Cyrus did a good job. You just can't compete with a woman's punk nonchalant attitude of fame. Deborah Harry's nonchalant ambiance was copied the world over by other female singers of the era. It was sexy, impenetrable, and other worldly. She was perfection. She's a white gold masterpiece of womanhood, that today's singers lack. You don't have to tell the whole world your life story, leave a whole lot of it to mystery. Thats what Deborah Harry was in that era, a woman of mystery. And her voice was amazing. Miley's vocal range is not anywhere near what Blondie's is. It is very apparent on the RIF. Miley simply cannot hit the range of notes that Deborah can.

You don't have to tell the whole world your life story, leave a whole lot of it to mystery. Thats what Deborah Harry was in that era, a woman of mystery. And her voice was amazing. There's something haunting yet drawing about Miley. At once disliking her but then... It's kinda like you know its bad but you can't help yourself. That said, I have a different viewpoint about Miley's voice. But first, OF COURSE the original is ALWAYS better. That's a given. Back to Miley... I think her voice is like smokey whiskey. Strong. Not good for you. But can't stop till the bottles done. I didn't think she was straining her voice so much as she was straining her acting. It came across as melodramatic. Unnecessary. As you've guessed, I'm not a fan of hers BUT... if by one of those miracles she should read this post, I'd hope that she'd get the message that above and beyond all her musically royal genes, she's actually got an amazing voice. I think I've seen evidence that she is actually maturing. Miley, don't try so hard. You got this! Relax and just be. Your voice is unique and you have nothing to prove to anyone except to yourself.
