- This mould caused me and others a lot of frustration. IT doesn't come with instructions on how to build or how to pour. If you're not careful then you will waste lot of resin, time and sanity with this one. I show an easy hack to get around the issues with this mould so that you can make a beautiful dominos box.

Brilliant solution Steve. I love the flowers in there. I love the little corner brackets. And don’t worry about the length of the video because you have helped us find a solution to this issue & it may be applied to other boxes in the future that we make.
If it was me, I would sand the sides of the lid a fraction to get it to slide in & out a little bit easier, but not too much that the lid just slides straight out. The other thing I would do is maybe add a little ribbon to the lid to pull it out. I may even get another mould that has lots of tiny little shapes in & make one of those but I’m a solid colour & as it is thickened up, put in the head of a tiny nail or screw & leave it to set firm. Then I would use the fine drill bit like you used & drilled a hole into the outside edge & carefully attach my little homemade drawer handle to pull it open.
You’re not supposed to take the lid fully off in regular use, that’s why the last bit of slide is harder. Keeps the lid from coming out completely and the dominos more secure in there. I loved the corners you used!

I am a body and paint man on cars and my suggestion not a demand to your resin problem is.
resin is like a clear coat on paint it does not stick to anything shiny and smooth it has to be scored with a knife or sanded a little bit to give the uv resin something to bite on even the 5 minute epoxy will eventually peel off of the shiny resin if you don't give it something rough to grip on to
Hello fellow car painter/resin enthusiast!
Just run a little bit of sand paper over where you are gluing them together to give it some texture to grip to (with your uv resin )
That was exactly what I was thinking lol and because you are going over it with resin, u won't be able to tell it was sanded :)

Edit, Additionally, you could use CA glue.
I am so glad I passed on that mold. I was looking at buying it a couple of days ago and when I read the reviews i decided not to get it. Now that I have seen Steve even struggles with it, I know I would have never gotten a nice outcome.

I kinda cheated for Domino boxes. I found that the wooden treasure chest shaped boxes from The Works fit a set in nicely. All I did was decorate it & it was done

I have a slight tremor as well. I never did like the box to open on top and bottom. All of mine are closed on the bottom. I also use glue instead of UV.
I have those flowers but I still didn't get the mold yet. I was thinking of getting it but I still have not bothered with it. I do have the mold for the dominos which I love so much. I think the box came out so beautiful. It's perfect to give it as a gift. You always make us laugh. As for me I think I would of through it against my wall because I would of fight with it

I lost patience with my domino mould the amount of resin I wasted coz it would not for life of me work so I threw my mould in bin lol xx I absolutely love the box u done I think I have to buy mold again and try it u way lol
I made one for my daughter, what a pain in the rear lol 😆 I made a small divot with my dremel on the lid to help with sliding the lid out.

Ok I see it was a pain ... But the corner pieces you added made it totally awesome ...but I think it needed a matching handle to open with an would be easier an as always beautiful work .

If it’s difficult to slide into place a nail file could widen the line where the fit is snug

You Steve are a better person than me lol I don't take that kind of frustration calmly, that box would have been chucked out with a primal yell! I sure as heck wouldn't' of taken the time to find a workaround and then actually made a video of it to help all of us.
Try a light sanding on the edges before you do the UV resin. Should get a bit better adhesion.

Well Steve, over all I think the box turned out great! So, I went ahead and ordered a mold for myself and I think I'll give I've it a go, I plan to use flowers in mine as well. So wish me luck 😬

I have this and the dominos mould but I don't think I will bother with the box
to make it slide easier, rub a little Vaseline on it.
I dnt know if I have patients for this haha

I’ve made twelve of these so far in varying sizes with no issues at all. I love the clear floral one you did. Please do one thing though, stop with the ridiculous fake opera singing or whatever it’s meant to be. It’s very childish and very irritating
That's the worst mold to use.
