First with Finshots and now Ditto Shrehith and Co have been doing awesome work in much needed fields of financial journalism and now insurance (MBAInsurancewaale hai who log waise). This venture looks set to disrupt the industry. I was so stoked about it from the start and now I’m hearing about Ditto from everywhere.
Too much focus on Advt for Ditto. Subtle mention would have worked better.
I don't reach out to any such policy or "online-startup" because they are more interested in collecting customer's mobile number via OTP, so that they can either sell it or spam it via marketing calls, despite number in DND.

I love Varun and Achina as speakers on Aevy, but the acting by others wearing wigs etc is very childish.
It makes a difference, but for serious watchers, it is unnecessary

The fact I love about ditto is that they don’t ask for your contact details while you are exploring their site. You can use all their data and analysis for free and anonymously.
Most other such companies don’t provide this luxury.
This is a big reason that pushed me to use ditto.

if you took Indian history, a king could had more than one queens. And if a woman was in a relationship before marriage, it was like a sin. They thought, woman should have only relation with her husband, if they do not follow this, They are considered as a unholy. And in western countries, these type of rituals does not exist.

It's because of how our previous generation was brought up back then people didn't used to have these kind of relationships so they are not used to this. I remember once my dad told me that they and their friends didn't even know what boyfriend and girlfriend meant till 10th grade so you can understand most people didn't even know what relationship meant back then, they all thought it only starts after marriage, even if they did know what relationship and love was they never really tried it because it was looked as something only high class people do (like actors, businessmen etc) rest middle class and lower class people never thought about getting into romantic relationships, Thus they expect their children to do the same.

Good work on educating on insurance. But the part where you explained about room rent is partially true. Though many insurance companies do this other insurance companies pay the room rent up to the limit and the treatment costs you have to pay the extra room rent. There are other variations to this and takes time to explain in detail.
I am an ex employee of one such Insurance company. Companies hired me directly from college in December to increase sales as Jan - Feb - Mar is the all time high period when people buy insurance to save tax . We got offered 25k a month in a Mumbai Suburban town which was good back in 2010 for me . I worked for 3 months and left because of the toxic work culture, the tomfoolery that was going on and chasing impossible targets of selling 4 policies a day .
To anyone who's reading this - Never buy a Unit linked Insurance plan. It's basically insurance plus investment plans. It's basically bullshit, companies are pushing these plans , never buy it . Always go for plain term insurance.

Hospitals covered should also be checked before buying health insurance. Some insurance don't cover the hospitals which are near to you.

I recently consulted with Ditto about health insurance. They do have a good pool of information available. But their consultant / representative kept pushing for one particular plan. Whereas as per their own website's info I had other better policies available fitting my requirements. At the end of the day everyone has to push-sell things with a better margin.

If you’re young and going to get your first life insurance… DO NOT buy ULIP or Market-linked Insurance schemes. It doesn’t give you the returns that Mutual Funds can give you nor can it give you the coverage normal term insurance can give you.
Banks and Insurance cos love to upsell you these ULIPs with a rosey picture but the reality is it’s filled w fees that goes directly in their pocket.
It’s designed in such a way that you’ll atleast get 105% of premiums paid. So basically, you’re better off putting that money in a simple term insurance or an FD.
Keep your insurance money and investment money separate.
Oh! If they're market linked, shouldn't they work as a mutual fund does, generating similar kinds of returns? (As long as both as invested in the same underlying asset such as Nifty 50.)
@@danlightened Great question! They do work like mutual funds. BUT... and there is a big BUT... they charge exhorbitant fees for combining market-linked products and insurance.
For e.g., you buy a ULIP w annual premium of 1L that you pay for the next 10 yrs. What these guys do is they charge managing fees, mutual fund fees, insurance fees, etc., and end up putting only 50-60k into market-linked products. So basically ~40k down the drain in fees. Also they'll never offer low expense ratio funds like index funds as part of the market-linked scheme. It'll more often than not be funds with expense ratio ~1%. If you know anything about compounding, you'd know how expensive that is.
Compare this to paying 20-25k p.a. in insurance (for a coverage of a crore compared to the 10lacs of a ULIP) and then separately investing in index funds (or any other MF of your choice).
Conclusion, over a span of 10 yrs, I would've paid ~1 lac in fees rather than putting that money to work directly in the market! I'm saying this from experience. A costly lesson my parents learnt.

Having a health insurance is very important when my mother got cancer and all the surgery and stuff costed around 3 lack in a private Hospital and most of the expense was covered by the insurance company and we at the end only needed to pay 10k for her treatment.
Though this was a necessary video, but I knew that this was a marketing campaign of ditto insurance by finshots backed by zerodha. Nice move gurram sir. This video was also no scam marketing.

I myself experience the horror of claiming insurance when my dad was admitted in covid 19.....it was truely a nightmare....these guys complicate the process so much that a normal person goes to the extent of maddness

I have been watching and following your channel, I felt it was unbiased. For the first time, I feel that this video on insurance is highly biased and only based on research by 'ditto' ,whereas any subject on insurance is incomplete without LIC. This video seems to be an ad campaign for ditto, which is not in the spirit of your channel.

Copay is put sometimes so that people don't file fake claims. Also the premiums work out to be lower in that case. So it's not entirely a bad thing. It would have been nice, if you people mentioned how to ask the insurance companies to pay the full amount for the medicines if my room rent is higher than what they will pay for it.

That is really informative and thank you for this video but there's a huge market where insurance is provided by the employer (at least in IT space) and we can't choose our own. How to deal with that? Usually, their insurer isn't the best, at times not even good but since the medical insurance is compulsory, one can't opt out then why would I go and buy another insurance which covers 90% same things. I would really appreciate an opinion or suggestion.

Insurance in India is a scam. Especially health insurance. 18% GST is skimmed from the top. Hefty commissions are paid to the insurance agents. And the worst are the hospitals who put you through unnecessary tests and procedures just to make a hefty bill. If you are young, start a small cap or a mid cap SIP of the premium amount and soon enough you would have a large enough corpus to take care of any eventuality.
I have a doubt! While explaining the "room rent limit" part, she said medicine and surgery bills costs higher with the private /deluxe room rent, right? Well, if we just request the hospital to provide us a shared room, then the insurance won't bother us by paying partially, right? It just sounds like it has more to do with the hospital and the room you're admitted in than the insurance you're having. Or am I wrong?
