Welcome to The Thin Blue Line official youtube channel. In this classic police sitcom, Rowan Atkinson plays Inspector Fowler, head of the Uniformed Branch of the fictional Gasforth police station. Fowler is constantly in battle of wits with DI Grim and the Criminal Investigation Department. Created by Ben Elton, the series aired from 1995 to 1996.
I often wonder if Rowan is reading a script or just making it up as he goes along but none the less the man is hilariously funny in Blackadder, Mr Bean and in The Thin Blue Line. :)
I think the biggest skill that he has is funny expressions and movements. No matter the language, Mr bean is hilarious! You can put it on mute and its still funny
He doesn't do improvised sketches. Everything that Atkinson does is rehearsed extensively, he's said so himself during interviews.
Rowan is just THE BEST!!!

@@francmittelo6731 I think it's more to do with cost increases in production Vs inflation, if they were still the same size they would cost considerably more than a kids pocket money, so they made them smaller instead of increasing the price

I find it funny how Rowan mentions "Oliver!" in this series and is an inspector trying to stop pick pocketing. And 14 years later, he plays Fagin in the 2009 London revival.

There seems broad agreement that this comedy series is very funny; I thought so when it came out but seem to remember that there were no more series because the ratings did not warrant it? We can complain about the plethora of awful quiz shows but the fact is that, in a ratings-driven industry, drivel gets more viewers than classic comedy.
Speaking of classic comedy, I would highly recommend the Detectives starring Jasper Carrott and Robert Powell. Equally sublime as Thin Blue Line

I was watching as a kid in Afghanistan while the war was going on lol the first movie I watched was baby's day out will never forget that.

No, he did. Everyone Rowan Atkinson does, is rehearsed over and over again. He doesn't improvise.

They are real laughs it was filmed in front of a live audience, same with all British comedies.

In the hands of lesser actors, this would just be dreadful given that it is easily twenty years behind the times in terms of style and characters but instead it feels timeless and unashamedly clever, silly, and very funny.

Really not keen on jokes that'll date badly like the Noel's House Party line. Easily could have picked another line that'd last a bit longer.
Maybe a regional thing but Noel's Houseparty was one of, if not, the biggest UK TV shows of the 90s.
