Thank you Catfish Dave for your explanation of the working of floats. Very informative and entertaining! I appreciate your time and experience that you put into your videos! Respect from Alberta Canada.
It’s August 2022 and it amazes me how much more advanced you’re fishing techniques are now versus just a year ago. Compared to today seeing that tiny bait and manually dropping a anchor is kinda weird to me 😆 always looking forward to every video!
@@BrandonX444X well im round old hickory and right now it's either we suck at fishing or they ain't biting. We all having issues on old hickory but it is beautiful. I'm a few hours west of old dave there.
@@BrandonX444X I was just looking at lakes up your way.... Looks great to me lol we just need a change of scenery it seems like 😂 maybe we should visit each other. I've got a boat but it's just a tiny jon with a trolling motor but I'd be up to taking you out if you came here and vice versa. I'm actually only about half hour from Franklin ky.
I am so glad that you took the time to explain how these work. I am going to try it out tomorrow morning when i get off work. Thanks for all your hard work. " This is a video there were fish in the video that makes it a fishing video"
Great video, great tutorial on slip floats. Trying to get set up for a trip to watts bar with a family member to try my luck for a PB. Keep on keeping it real Dave.
Thanks dave! I am gonna try this slip float deal! I agree with the other comments.. "nothing better than a live bait Flathead video" I sure enjoyed it!
Catfish Dave, you have the most awesome and informative videos. I really do enjoy watching them. I was wondering if you could do a video on how you rigged your catfish rattles and floats? Thank you again for the knowledge that you share with us all.
Love the video's catfish Dave. I really don't fish with live shad but do you always hook the gill behind the dorsal? I found i do better with it through the lips making sure it's not through the brain. The only reason is because fish usually strike head first,so I get better hook-up ratio. The only drawback I found is they cast off easier and don't last as long. Thanks bud
Dave can you do video how you use tour sonar to find catfish befor fishing that spot and how you set you boat up for the big take down....Thanks Leland
In most cases the bait is suspended just a couple feet off bottom but there are occasional instances where big cats may come up from the bottom and hit a surface bait. My first choice would be a couple feet off bottom
Thank you so much for the video and it answered many of my questions. One last question remains in my head. In the example you gave you were 5 feet deep with your bobber stop. How deep of a water depth would you use that 5 foot rig?
Is there any benefit in the through float bobber compared to the ones that use a line slide and clip on like the MRC floats? Or is it just preference? Great video Dave.
Hey Dave do you ever go cat fishing with just using worms?? You should do a video with just using worms & see what you can catch using just worms!!! I’d definitely like to see a video like that for sure!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do that but I have seen other RUclipsrs use worms & do very good at it!!! Thanks Dave!!!
He’s a Tier 5 catfishereman, next level legend! On the bottom, with a bobber- makes no difference to Catfish Dave. Flatheads on the bobber- a call shot from our hero 👍
Would love to go catfishing with you. I'm about 10 mins. away from Cherokee Dam on the river side. I fish the same river , just never caught any catfish that big. Love the videos, do you ever keep any of the fish you catch? Also if you don't mind what bait do you use to catch the skipjack?
Love catching the flatheads. Taking my grandson gar fishing on the Ohio River today. He just doesn't know what he's in store for if we get one to run. Don't have to get it in the fun is in the run. I Will have to make some of the noodle doodle.
Thank you Mr. Dave I needed a good video after the weekend I just had. !!!!! GOD Bless you and your channel !!!!! James and Judy Hopper Romans 6:23, Jer. 15:24.......
Are you running a generator while filming? You m watching your video on my iPhone and there is a lot of noise like something running. Maybe it’s the aerator.
I just have a question. I don’t know and I’m a fisherman no moral stuff I’m just curious. Is it possible that places like Fort Loudoun aren’t as good anymore as opposed to better because the fish are dying after they released at least some of the time maybe from other anglers why would all the sudden there be no blue cats shouldn’t there be more do people eat those big things.?
My boat up against those rocks whoa I’d freak out. Of course, I’m a railroader so I never have time to use my boat anyway, but do enjoy watching videos about it.
I make my floats out of 6" foam balls through which I run a coffee straw. I heat up a piece of coat hanger to make the hole through which the coffee straw goes. The straw is anchored on each end with hot glue. These work great and are very weight and amazingly bouyant.
Once my cousin caught a flathead while we were fishing for bluegill. That flathead was as mean as a striped snake and just plain ornery. The hook was a very small bluegill hook so there was no way it was going hold that flathead even if it could hook it. That doggone fish just decided it wasn't going to let go of that bluegill until my cousin pulled it onto the bank (I think she had 4lb line) and it promptly spit that bluegill out. It was both my cousin's first flathead and her first catfish. It weighed right at 15 pounds. I swear it's true. lol
If I recall Dave you had a video showing you make um. You should do what other tubers do and leave a description link to that video. You'll get more views less questions.
I know your stand on eat'n anything out of the Tennessee River , but man that woulda been a great size one for a catch , clean & cook ! Flatheads eat awful good !

Sweet. The All American canal steep bank drop offs with lots of bottom grass. Awesome.😂🎉❤
Love your vids Dave. The shorter ones are easier for me to watch due to time. I try to break the longer ones up into 2 or 3 pieces but it's tough.

? Dave if i am fishing in 30ft of water with a float how deep should my bait be?

You are truly a good cat fisherman. 🙂
Now that was a good informative video Mr Catfish . Thanks for sharing
Thanks for going through and explaining. Maybe one day when these damn kids get old enough I’ll get to fish again!
This is a great informational video. Thank you catfish Dave!
What do you all consider the best tasting type of catfish? Blues, flatheads or channel?
Since I deep-fry mine breaded in cornmeal, they all mostly taste the same. I know the smaller they are the tastier they seem
Flathead>blue>channel
@@JackedJacobOutdoors thanks
Flatheads and blues are both
Far superior to channel in my opinion.
Nice comprehensive explanation on your tackle rig.

Flathead catfish are my favorite....thanks Dave

Dave what's going on man! That was a nice flat head! Great informational video Man I lived it!! Keep on getting down!
Good show Dave. It's time I use the big slip floats that my Son gave me.......a few years ago. BAD Dad !
Why do you cut the back tail fin off of the little fish before hooking it as bait?
Would you give your oponion on jon boats, what are they ok for?
Would love to see you do more Bank fishing videos
Why do you cut the tail off the fish and how deep was the water there, thanks.

Thanks for answering my question from your last video on how the slip float is rigged.
If you think about it, maybe you could do a how to video when or if you make one of those floats. Enjoyed this video very very much Mr. Dave
There's already a video. About 2 or 3 years back of one way he did it. He used pole floats in the middle but there is several ways to do it.
Very informative video. Thanks Dave.
Does that joining knot get caught on the guides and wear down when not getting caught on the last one?
Very good description of making and using a slip float
Love the videos Dave!!
Where'd you buy that particular slip float?
You may have made the best youtube catfishing video ! Has all the right stuff 😉🦾👍🏻👍🏻
How deep do you set them?
He said he sets them at about 5ft. 4ft to float and 1ft of leader line.
Those thin stiff little coffee straws would be perfect for those floats.
I use those making my noodle bobbers.
I have those same floats, wild wolf I think , he’s out of tenn. I’ve not used yet gonna have to dig them out give it a try
Enjoyed the vid great job
good video , what size weight on the float rig ?
I've got 3 ounce egg sinkers on there
