I was born in 1982, 28 years after this song. I knew this song because of my mother who used to sing it to me. My daughter was born in 2009. I used to sing it to her as a lullaby and she used to immediately calm down and go to sleep. Today in 2022, she still knows this song. She is now 13 years old and still calms down whenever i sing it. 70 years after this song was created....

When I was a kid, I used to hate whenever Baba used to play this and other songs of Hemant Kumar. We had a lot of cassettes collection back then. Fast forward thirty years today, I now understand understand why he liked these songs. May be one day my kid will hate these songs only to realise later that these are the real gems.

It is one of many marvels of those times. Composers singers and songwriters of that time were extraordinary. These songs will live forever. I am in present day Pakistan but in no way ready to part myself with this common heritage
