And she rocks her music. All girls thinking of playing the horn should see & hear her play, one of the best in the world. That she made that gown look good is secondary to her enthusiasm & skill.
Beautiful work by all. Loved hearing Sarah Willis and Radek Baborák perform together. I wish the cameraman would have kept these two principal performers in his lens at all times. Focusing on the string section during the horn solos is very distracting.
The chairs for the Bass Violins are an awesome tool. I was never a Bass Violin player, just French Horn, but this is a great invention. I really love the Horn Duet, especially played by the best Horn players. Your still the best Horn on playing wonderful bass. Your choice of music was refreshing to wake-up too this morning. Thank you Sarah!
@@ariston8368 that's just ridiculous. I heard him live twice, once with Strauss 2 and you will not find anyone on the planet that can play that with such ease and spontaniousness as he does.
@@Apfelstrudl I did not say he is a bad horn player. He's still amazing. But in my opinion he's not the worlds best. I like Stefan Dohr more for example.

Bravi...what a fabulous performance. Such a treat. I will share with our other great hornists out there!! Great job Orchestra!! Great feeling of the style, great musicianship!! A real treat for us all!
Great playing by the soloists and the orchestra, but I wish the audio and the video were better quality, (although I do realize it was an outdoor concert.)
I have really enjoyed your informative and entertaining uploads on the French Horn and Wagner Tubas. Loved that video on the quartet of Wagner Tubas and Bass Tuba from Bruckner's Eighth. I saw Karajan conduct Bruckner's Eighth in London circa 1977/8. It was a staggering performance of monumental proportions. I have never ever seen so many brass instruments in an orchestra before and I still recall the players taking their place on the stage - when is it going to end! - two rows of them for almost entire width of the stage, not to mention two timpanists to boot! Do you recall a horn player called Alan Civil? Principal horn from the Philharmonia I believe and he featured on the Beatles 'Revolver' album on Paul McCartney's 'For No One' 1966. I recently acquired Karajan's 1966 DG recording of Bach's Brandenburgs on vinyl and on the back of the sleeve it noted the various soloists which included a certain 'Alain Cicil'? Any thoughts?
At first I thought everyone was wearing gray, which would be such a refreshing variation from concert black...but it might actually just be the lighting. Anyway, great music!
It's the lighting. It's black. But you have a point about wishing for something different. I'm reminded of the joke Christmas card with Santa Clause getting dressed on Christmas Eve and looking at a row of red Santa suits hanging in his closet. But one of the suits is blue. Santa is thinking, "Maybe THIS is the year." But it never is. One a practical level, many musicians move amongst orchestras and smaller groups or solo and about the only way to keep things coordinated in that particular music world is an "industry wide" uniform.
👏👍 Outstanding performance! I don't play the French horn; but depending on the embouchure that I use and genre of music that I play, I can make a pretty good facsimile of the French horn's intonation by playing either my flugelhorn or my alto saxophone. 😉 🎺 🎷 🎶🎵
Dette var for meg Fenomenalt. Slike hornister fantes ikke i min bardom. Willis er god og Radek Baborak er et fenomen,hør ham spille Straus. Brynjar Hoff
Kenneth Brush Does cutting a bell make any big differences when playing the horn? I’ve been playing a detachable double horn for years and never played the other so I’m kind of curious
@@seongchaelee694 The consensus seems to be that it doesn't. The folks at Gbr. Alexander say it doesn't. Though there seem to be strong preferences by some players. Sarah has a video on choosing a horn that was shot at the Alexander showroom, where it is discussed.
@@seongchaelee694 Imagine cutting a school playground hand bell or any such bell and adding a ring section. It'll not be the same. The horn rings differently the more you touch the bell, muffle it with a more closed hand, or turn it to play into your leg or clothing like so many. It depends on the sound that you're after and how it projects. Its a big variable, where detachable bell is only a part..
Why does the video note say "Haydn (Rosetti)"? Who wrote this, Haydn or Rosetti?

The work is not originally signed and could not be clearly assigned so far. In question are Michael Haydn, Joseph Haydn and Antonio Rosetti. However, most of the evidence speaks for Rosetti...

excelentes cornistas, de lo mejor del mundo hoy. Pero que pésimo camarografo que mientras los solistas estan interpretando anda por otro lado tomando la orquesta cuando deberia estar tomando a Sara con esos bajos o Radek con los altos. Un camarografo tan malo echa a perder una obra excellent concert artists, the best in the world today. But what a terrible cameraman that while the soloists are performing he is on the other hand taking the orchestra when he should be taking Sara with those basses or Radek with the highs. Such a bad cameraman spoils a work

This two Artist have made the horn very famose as soloinstrument. Great hornplayers,in a class of masters!
The godess and god of horn at the same concert. There are no words to describe

do you mean the cellos? violas? or double basses???

The first time I have heard Rosetti's music, and what a lovely piece.
Nick, Helen York lots of music recorded. It sound like early Haydn and Mozart but a few are really first class.
Great performance!

The audio volume, or the audio per se, leaves something to be desired.
