even if you don't like this kind of music one truly has to admire the incredible skill involved in a production like this. i wonder how much of this dance is choreographed and how much is improvised.
I would imagine not much is improvised, certainly not the ensemble work. Hoyas and del Sol probably worked together a lot before filming, where improvisation could have been incorporated into the final choreography. Remember, we are watching a film, and that means that camera angles and set-ups would have been determined beforehand. There are many long 'takes', and minimal editing. This is a brilliant work - blew me away when I first saw it years ago. I think it is just about criminal that this, Saura's 'Blood Wedding' and 'El amor brujo' are not available on DVD or BluRay. Fantastic works of art, all.
