YES I've been hoping you would react to this! Erra are my favorite band, and Snowblood is my favorite song of the year so far. If you ever decide to react to more Erra, I highly recommend their song Dementia
Those harmonic trills you hear around the 6:25 range in the song that you said you weren’t sure about are done thanks to the overdrive on the guitar. Between the natural harmonics there are other, harder to hear harmonics. So where the natural harmonics are on the 5th, 7th and 12th frets, you can get the sound in this song by barely touching the string while under a lot of gain on different frets and get different natural harmonics out of the strings.
Got the opportunity to see these guys live with Born of Osiris 9 years ago. They changed their sound a bit over the years but it doesn't make them less appealing. In fact, I think they're bigger now than they were back in the day. Singer Jesse also has his own band, Ghost Atlas.
In that first breakdown I believe the part that sounds digital is an artificial harmonic that they are just tremolo picking insanely fast. But great video. You should check Thornhill. They are a young Australian progressive metalcoreish band with a unique sound.
Join the family my guy! There are tons of great metalcore bands out there so plenty of styles to suit your taste. I remember my journey into metalcore very fondly so I wish you the same. Best of luck!
When I first found Erra years ago they were all I could listen to. If there was music playing and it wasn’t Erra, i didn’t want it and this went on for MONTHS.
Chase! My favourite reaction channel! love the thoughtfully considered commentary and the calm delivery, great stuff :) This track is brilliant (Eye of God is good too if you want to listen to another recent release), really enjoyed the guitar work in particular - and that part you are referring to, it's a speed picked harmonic rather than digitally created.
This was awesome. Always like it when I am introduced to bands on your channel, but it's even better when I like the song so much. Great reaction and looks like 30K is just around the corner!
I loved that solo and the overall “ grind n tone “ of the song. Enjoying the ride and experience of new music.....thanks for the great break down Chase!
This is in my top 10 songs of all time. I never really got into Erra in their Augment days, but this is just incredible. There is so much talent in this band.
Your analysis amazes me. The amount you pick up in the first 30 seconds is unbelieveable. Also, the singer sounds EXACTLY like the singer of The Ghost Inside.
YES I have been waiting for you to get your hands (ears?) on some ERRA. They can be super technical/complex, and I already love how you explain all that in music but seeing your reactions and explanations to an ERRA song is everything, LOVE it! Definitely recommend Eye of God by them, but anything in their discography would be awesome!!
Erra is so much fun live! another fun video. also, that main riff sounds suspiciously familiar to Doomsday by Architects. but makes sense, Architects are the grandfathers. Cheers!

In my eyes, ERRA is basically the next generation of August Burns Red. They feel like they carry the same essence of ABR, but with more modern elements of metalcore.
To make that high pitch sound at 5:58 before the breakdown. It’s a harmonic on the guitar. So basically, instead of pressing on the fret. You just lightly “touch” the string ever so slightly and it creates a harmonic sound!
Oh man this brings back memories. I remember listen to Erra alot when I was younger. Beating their song Demensia in Osu! was one of my proudest moments in that game, what a fantastic song! On another note, have you heard Make Way For Man? Their song Limitless is so incredible, Id love to hear what you think about it. Love how you analyse music, very digestible and informative. Also you are just so sympathetic like damn
Great job yet again, Chase. If you want a particular song from a long time Erra listener, I recommend Hybrid Earth from their album Augment. It’s their previous vocalist but to this day that album is still my favorite. Great clean production, and in my opinion just some of their best work. Jesse (guitarist/singer) goes wild with cleans and guitar work on that record. Have a damn good day, sir!
Also amazing reaction, loved how detailed you were in breaking down the technicalities of the music. Hoping you dive into more of the Metalcore genre, might not be the best at genre to grow your channel but the community is amazing!
Erra really are great. Loved the vid. You're really good at breaking down the different aspects to a song! Completely unrelated: You really listen to Kamelot some time. Something from the 'One Cold Winters Night' show in Oslo in particular. The band is really great in general and their old singer Roy Khan is an absolute god. In that show they have a song with Simone Simmons from Epica for example (The Haunting), so that might be as good a song to start as any.
Love your content Chase! You always provide a good insight to the composition of the pieces and your love and passion for music really shines through from your reactions. @@ChaseCarneson they released an album march of last year and a single called 'Fakers Plague' in December which quickly became one of my favourite songs by them
Yes! This is the kind of content I'm into! Kudos for exposing yourself to new stuff (although they've been around for a decade). These guys are phenomenal. After The Burial is another prog metalcore band you might like. Maybe start off with their song Lost In Static. Also, seems like you're into metalcore, hope to see bands like Crystal Lake, Periphery, Currents, Silent Planet, Kingdom of Giants and Like Moths to Flames here.

I really like giving the spotlight to lesser known bands. It often gets a bit tiring to see over and over the exact same lineup on every channel, while smaller bands never get a proper chance to shine. I've picked up through your videos that you like prog, intricate melodies and music composition, are into air drumming (me too!), you also like bands which bring external influences and make them fit, but have not reacted to Ne Obliviscaris yet. Do you already know them? If not, Intra Venus might be an "easy" song to get into them, with And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope being a 10+ min masterpiece with an outstanding official live version in their channel. Those are the easiest to recommend, but anything else from them is gold anyway. Keep up the good work, I had already subbed as your reactions help a lot understanding and picking up details, but it's awesome to see you give time to those who are not as well established.
I'm not the biggest ERRA fan, but I've loved JT's vocals ever since he was in Texas In July (their Bloodwork album is great!). I do really like the direction they're going, and I'd suggest the song Eye of God as well. As always, a great reaction. By the way, it seems like you should add a shirt to lineup that says "Get out of here! (and have a damn good day). The get out of here is when you know Chase REALLY likes something, lol!
Please check out much more Erra, they're one of the best prog metal bands, and they have so many bangers. Dreamcatcher, Vaalbara, The Architect, Efflorescent, Dementia, Drift, Valhalla, Signal Fire, Disarray... just about all their songs are phenomenal
Heard this song countless times and I missed that synth you mentioned at 10:51 because I was so distracted by the Tool-like guitar tone. Keep the fresh content coming! 'Smart' move 😆 Also, speaking of metalcore. I'd like to see your breakdown for Kingdom of Giants. Their new album is more to melodic metalcore. Wayfinder is their latest video release. But my fav is Sync. Your pick, either way you might like it because their tones are different than other bands of their league.
@@ChaseCarneson happy to know you're considering Kingdom of Giants. They're one of my best discoveries while in quarantine 😊 As for ERRA, I'd suggest Dementia or Dreamcatcher next.
Id recommend anything from Erra so I'll recommend imo the best song from each album or each version of Erra! Erra has also had a change in Harsh Vocals in their last 2 Albums. Hybrid Earth from Augment Skyline or literally anything from Drift Breach from Neon Eye of God (Single after Neon) and finally Seven or Vaalbara from Impulse
