    SM all the way. Perfect for everyday riding like you mentioned but capable of going offroad when you wanna go explore. 🤘

    So Cycle World has reduced itself to using click bait style titles like "Don't buy this..!" "See this before...!". ???? It's not necessary for an established channel like this and turns me off. This just seemed to be a legitimate KLX review rather than what the title inferred, and as others posted didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know.

    I wish they made the supermoto in that kawi green. I know I can just switch them but would’ve been a nice option

      I agree. I got a 2023 in the neon green that was a year old with 4 miles on it, in the fall of '23. Got lucky. That periwinkle blue/grey or whatever it is for '24 just wasn't doing it for me. With a Kawasaki you just have to have some kind of green

      I thought the same thing. When my grandson said he bought a KLX 300 I thought oh good, bright green so he will be seen out there. Then I found out it was the SM in that blue and I was so disappointed.

    Option A:
    You should first know "your" own riding preference & where you ride then choose appropriately. Or just skip to Option D.
    Option B:
    (A friend told me about this:)
    "if you want a good compromise between a DS and a SM a simple adventure tire (70/30) swap solve the issue!"
    Wouldn't be "exactly" the same though, but remember it's "a good compromise".
    Best practical and also budget friendly advice!
    😎👍🫵🍻
    Option C:
    - "if" you have some
    hidden cash,
    get spare;
    hubs/spokes/rims/tires set then swap em out as needed.
    Option D:
    "if" you have cash to spare & don't want the hassles... get both!

    It's less about the "type of person" than it is what living situation they're currently in. If I live in the sticks with tons of fun dirt trails nearby, I'd get a dirt bike with off road wheels.. if I live in a city where the only dirt in a 50 mile radius is in the median of the highway - I'll get the supermoto wheels.

    If we put on a wider, lower seat & gave it a bigger fuel tank it would suddenly be a boring standard style bike that makes sense.

    Keep the street on the street and dirt on the dirt... You'd better take picture of that dual sport if you ride it on real trails. It's not going to look like it did when you're done.

      Rims will be expensive. A set from a decent company like Warp9 will set you back like $1000. The other thing to consider is the steering geometry. The rake and trail is different for both bikes, so the handling may seem a little more squirrly on 17" rims. Other than that, you should be good to go.
      Cheers!

      Coming from a guy who couldn’t decide which bike to buy the SM model or duel sport. I own 5 different duel sports, KLX230, KLX250, KLX300SM, CRF250, CRF300L. Also owned the DRZ400S, I ride the KLX300SM with and without a passenger. I bought the SM because I found the shorter front spring and the rake degree is different than the S model and your traditional duel sports. The KLX300SM can out corner all of my other bikes on the street on the twisty roads and I definitely feel way way more confident in the turns at 40-53 mph on the SM. I’m sure if you did the conversion you would love it too, you would have a little more suspension and it’s a little costly because you need different sprocket, rims and tires, maybe a different chain because the set up is three teeth smaller on the sprocket and if you cut your chain, it wouldn’t fit to go back to your off road set up. So there are some things to consider…don’t feel bad about your decision. Both bikes are so much fun, you would just feel more confident and a little faster in the turns on the street. But I can’t get off that KLX300SM, (I owned the Yamaha T7 too) it’s no T7, that’s a different kinda fun, but the gas savings and how light the SM is makes it unique and so fun to ride. You did good on your purchase. 🤙🏽

    A trailbike is always a trailbike. Fit hard terrain knobbies. Put road wheels on, and it's just a useless trailbike. See how slow the 300 was on the canyon road. 😂 Just buy a road bike.

      @crashdummysm Год назад +2

      Did you notice the whole motorcycle footage is slowed down? It is not a reference for anything.
      A supermoto has more agility than a road bike of similar displacement on the canyons because of its geometry and other factors. I have passed bigger bikes on slow and medium speed turns, and gave my friend a hard time on high speed ones.

      I've had many road bikes. I just got the KLX 300SM and it is as fun if not more fun than all my street bikes when riding on back country and mountain twisties. Guys on Supermotos smoke other street bikes in the twisties particularly Tail of the Dragon and similar roads. IF you had actually ridden one you would know.
