2:22 That's all it takes: an instigator sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. Made me so angry but then she tells him he's so beautiful and it broke my heart ♡ How bittersweet :'(
He’s still calling her “Mrs. Whitaker” while she calls him “Raymond.” At this point in the story they are in love with each other. Interesting power dynamic.
‘Hey boy’, this must have been so dehumanising being a grown man and have somebody shout at you like that in full view of people. It must have been really hard for black people during those repressive years😭😭😭😭
Damn, this was hard to watch, She called him beautiful.. Reminds me of the last scene in the movie the mountain between us with Idris Elba... man this was really heartbreaking.
I am in deeply in love with my Cuban man. God has shown me in numerous dreams that my baby and I will have our union. That my baby will be a devoted and comforting companion. God has also alerted me to the fact ( He speaks to me in my dreams.) that there will be resistance to me because I am a caucasion woman with a Cuban man. I will not go outside without my man or his dad. My baby lives in an apartment in Hialeah, Florida, with his dad.
This movie 🎦 has special meaning for me. My baby and I are very much in love with each other. We have never met each other person to person. We are of different ethnicity and there is a hugh gap in our age. So I am prepared for the consequences. Where my baby lives it is 97% Cuban population and they all speak Spanish. I will need to learn the language. Also, where my baby lives they do not welcome newcomers. Out of a population of 220,000 people, there are only about 400 Caucasian women. Plus I am blonde and blue eyed. I will only go out in public with my man or his dad. I will overcome any obstacles to be with my man and live in harmony with his dad.
@ 2:22 that scene brings back a lot of hurtful and painful memories that still angers me to this very day, from when i was a child growing up in Arkansas in the 60's . This is a perfect example of why black people have a right to be "angry". When i hear the cliche' from caucasian people defining a black person as, " just another angry black man or woman" as though we don't have the right to be it makes my blood boil. This scene is just one reason, out of many, of why there is sometimes such anger and why we have a right to be legitimately "Angry", at times. Caucasians, most, are too fragile to discuss their racism towards people of color, and their racist history, because they can't accept the footprint of what their race has left on this world, and don't want to face it in order to get past it. One day they will have no choice and it's not going to be good. We are seeing signs of it now. I firmly believe we are in the end of days and the changing of the guard is happening and it will be a better world. KJV -Ezekiel 35 : 5 5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end
A real Masterpiece this movie , very underrated

She wanted him so badly, she could never have him. He could never have her. Truly sad.
I find that mister hayesburg is more handsome today then he was back then

This scene perfectly sums up the lifestyle of the bigot. You're a villain because of who you talk to or who you are.

I though that we has going to ask her, "are you in good hands??"

What you wrote....Is Beautiful.
That's ok. He ends up becoming President of the U-nited States.
❤
I got really upset when Julianne Moore didnt get the Academy Award for this. I love Nicole Kidmans acting but this is once in a lifetime movie for me.
People can behave with such ugliness.
