I have been watching your videos for about a year. You have a unique talent and quality. You just present factually with no subjective bias. Very difficult given some of the observations you present. I am a 73 old Brit, who hitched around the US for 3 months in 1970. I met many beautiful people and had a great time. I had such a good time, I wanted emigrate. The rest of the world gets one image of the US, Hollywood, TV and media in general. What you and a few other RUclipsrs are doing is true reality. I am disturberd by the levels of poverty you have revealed, given you are allegedly the richest country in the world. You are creating a truly invaluable record of life in the USA today. What you are doing is special and relevant for generations to come. Thankyou, keep going.

One of the best ways to help is just listen to the locals. I’m sure they appreciate any and all help. I pray this town finds the strength to carry on and move forward.

I am so saddened for the town of Rolling Fork. I hope many are volunteering to help all those people. Just a week later an EF4 hit Little Rock, Jacksonville and Wynne, Arkansas. Five fatalities. I know many other states have been hit also. This has been a rough Spring for many. When you film your travels and talk about the loss of population, I can’t help but wonder where is everyone going to? It just boggles my mind. Awesome video as always. Huge Kermit fans here! 🐸

Great Turtle Save! Thank you for going back to Rolling Fork. That was thoughtful and humbling. Tornadoes destroy homes, families, businesses, jobs, history and much more, and some people DO NOT have insurance. Withstanding, thanks for reminding us about Teddy Bears and Blues, and I hope that they replace Muddy Water’s replica home and the Teddy Bear Statue(s). I LOVE the Blues, Rock..! Notwithstanding, Kermit the frog was a great directional transition! I love "how" you document, etc. Have Fun, Safe Travels, and a Great and Creative Day! - Ron

Capturing a cat and inserting it in the video after the closing remarks is real dedication. Beginning the video with Nicole gratifyingly saving a turtle from senseless destruction was so endearing. Taking your numbers at face value, Leland is yet another example of a majority black municipality with an under average crime rate. Although it's impossible to be sure either way without further study, my guess is that the packaged liquor store, squeezed in between empty and rundown storefronts, in Leland, is operational because of it's overall appearance; its door and windows intact and protected by non-rusted bars; the fact it had a non-weathered 'closed' sign in the door; and an air conditioner in one of the windows. Your presentation-with before and after videos- of Rolling Rock shockingly portrays the enormous devastation that special village has suffered. Doing so was a public service. Thank you.

The cat footage was from a town inbetween Rolling Fork and Lelands called Arcola. I had to cut that town's footage out of the video because the video got too long, but I cheated and used the cat footage I got there, lol. :(

PS: Thanks for showing us Greeneville. Back when I was a kid and a big Red Sox fan, unlike the boys who memorized RBI's and batting averages, I'd memorize the towns where all the players were from. I remember George Scott, one of the few black players on the team, was from Greeneville, MS, which seemed like the other side of the world to me at that time. Years later we had Oil Can Boyd from Meridian MS (where I blew a tire moving to Houston in 1982). Anyway, I think ole "Oil Can" (slang for beer can) was one of the folks who probably got run off from one of the many bars in those towns with signs that say "No Loitering" But I really do appreciate you taking us through these towns!

    Good afternoon Lord Spoda,
A bit late on parade but still a very interesting tour.
Rolling Fork, I saw this reading via Reuters online and remembered you had been there. What a kicking the town took. Brings it home a lot more after having you drive me through it, terrifying.
I hate to tell you this but people here have no idea who Kermit the frog is, they have no idea about WW2 either. Does crime involve Dodge Chargers speeding?
Looking around these places brings home why they sing the Blues as I've always found it melancholy.
Releasing turtles is good fortune here in Thailand as they only go forwards and never go back, a symbol of longevity and prosperity!
Thank you as always even for this somewhat upsetting trip. Having seen the before and after makes me realise that I'm very lucky. Be safe!

As a European I find these old US small towns very fascinating. Specially compared to villages of around the same size in my country as in your video's. It is all so different. I don't mean the decay, but how these towns are set up and how even the small towns have a policestation ( there's no way a village of just 1000 residents has it's own police station or a Town Hall in my country for example) and a Town Hall, a downtown ( although granted, in alot of your video's the downtowns are pretty much dead in most of them), the wide main street...stuff like that......anyway; your video's can never be too long imo. Tbh; I'm even dissapointed when a video is just 22 minutes.I love it when your video's are over 40 minutes..Just discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago and going through all your video's watching a few per day......can't get enough of these small towns....and sometimes get surprised; I always thought Baton Rouge was a relative small town. In my mind it was a town of around 20, maybe 30.000, but it's actually a real sized city. In movies and tv series it always looks like a fairly small town...but I guess thats because you mostly only see the really old parts of the city...or the swamp part near it........edit; also; I hope the people in Rolling Fork will recover from all that destruction and get all the help they need. Thats alot of destruction. Those poor people and animals.

It is amazing how many older videos and now newer ones mirror what we saw. We watched them as an add to our pics to relive the journey. Of note for us on this one is that we stayed in Vicksburg the night of the tornado with plans to travel up US 61 the next day. We had to reroute to Greenville via route 1. I have only heard of, not a history buff really, it's just that I was raised in little rural town in Vermont for fifty-two years and have just been awoken to how big and wide our world really is. Thank you RUclipsRS everywhere!!! Sentence Vermont is so rural in nature I'm interested in where you're thinking you would like to do your videos I may be able to suggest a few places. Vermonters will tell you if you want to get anywhere in this state you're going to have to drive because our state is more countryside and Mountains. We have one major city which is Burlington, then we have Montpelier which is not, as big as some would think being a state capital. I'm sure you do a lot of internet searches but I myself have seen a lot of businesses popping up that are quite not onto platforms yet, let me know how I might help.

For instance, in this video I found myself singing Mississippi by Pussycat ............. "I'll be longing for the day, that I will be in Greenville again". I have thought of many, many more as I've watched. Thank you for reviving my memories from over the years and putting a smile on my face in these hard times. Your wife is such a sweet lady! I once found a little painted turtle on a road, thought I'd take him home to show my husband and his tenant (an avocational herpetologist and friend of mine). Put him in a bucket in the passenger side.... BAD idea! He crawled out and boy, could that guy move! Didn't have an accident (close), and after everyone admired him, we took him out to East Branch and put him near the water. We counted about 7-8 turtle heads that popped up while he stood there getting his bearings. Good times - especially for that turtle!

Horrible tornado damage in Rolling Fork - definitely a life-changing experience for the people there - I can't imagine losing everything. Many will never rebuild in that town further decreasing the population. It appears that carved wooden bear is crying ...🎼🎶Do love Muddy Waters - have many of his albums!🎵...A different world down the road in Leland - and another blues town with many tiny bars as well - most appear closed now though. ... and finally, Greenville... wondering why people are leaving - appears to be a nice place. Maybe no blue collar jobs there but right at the end of town I did see railroad tracks so there might be some sort of industry... Thanks for the virtual tour! Happy Easter weekend!

Rolling Fork looked like such a nice town. What a tragic contrast, before and after. Those bear statues are something, especially the one done with a chainsaw. The catfish sandwich looked terrific. And I loved the turtle rescue! 👍❤

That is not the Mississippi River by the Casino. It is Lake Ferguson. The Mississippi River is on the other side of the trees.

Greenville has a beautiful courthouse. Surprising how many beautiful courthouses in poor places. I liked the wide roads and seeing the Mississippi River. I admit that I wondered if you played the jukebox. We’re ready for Alabama and Florida! 👍👍

Man, wow, this is surreal. I was watching storm chasers and ryan hall that night, and saw a bunch of aftermath footage from drones, etc. but its another thing entirely to watch you cruise into town like that, not to mention your before and afters. prayers for all effected by this.

Cool second town! The Muppets! Jim Henson! I’m so glad that the museum didn’t take a hit. I’ve heard that they have their Christmas parade floating down Deer Creek - where you said Henson was born! Wow, I didn’t know that. What a place to be born! I thought it must’ve taken a hit when it followed Rolling Fork. 🐸… “It isn’t easy being green.” 👍👍

@LS. My Heart goes out to the people who suffered the devastating hurricane. Your video brought back some very fond childhood memories. Loved Henson. .my dad was a taylor, made us a kermit puppet that me and my siblings had great fun with. Sesame Street was aspirational. Really enjoy your video. Blues is also a big staple in our family, put the name Quearney into RUclips, that'll be us.
