I’m a 91 year old AI from Calcutta who emigrated to the UK. Like many of us, only learned to cook after leaving India. I have cooked pish pash but the addition of mint and ghee takes it to a different level. It is my comfort food especially when the weather is cold and grey, it brings back such great memories. Thank you for sharing. Do you have a recipe for mutton mulligatawny?

Thank you for the video for Pish Pash Bridget, my mum used to make it for us when we were kids. She used beef instead of chicken, and we loved it. Going to try out this recipe. Thanks again for all the delicious and easy recipes on You Tube. I enjoy making so many of your recipes. 😊
I am Bengali but I think our family physician told my mum to make this for me when I had any stomach upset when I was a child. Our family physician studied in Doon School and he introduced us to a lot of more European or British food.
Dear Bridget. Thank you so much for demonstrating cooking Pish Pash. My mum used to cook this for us when we were starting to recover from illness. (Back in the UK) But I never knew about the Cinnamon, Garlic Ginger and Mint! So I just boiled up the rice with onions and Peppercorns. It still tastes good with a knob of butter on top when served up. Actually, I think I will add some chopped onions now, as I remember it also helped the flavour. I will let you know how I get on! I like your additional accompanying 🎶 music. 👏 🙏 Mary
Thank you so much Mary. Glad it brought back memories of your mum. Actually each recipe differed a bit according to each family. I add the cinnamon, garlic , ginger and mint to enhance the taste
@@bridgetwhiteangloindianrecipesI miss those days when i got fever and had a runny nose - mom rubbed my little feet with vicks and put my socks on - and then feed me Pish Pash and put me to bed. No school next day😁
@@santanugmail thank you so much professor. Your English lessons have been amazing. Thank you for teaching me how to read 😇 I wouldn’t have ever been able to read without your teaching
@@bridgetwhiteangloindianrecipes I only have arborio rice at the moment, as used in risotto. Would that be OK, or would it use the moisture up too quickly? Also, I have no ghee, so is butter ok?

True. Pish Pash was given to us whenever we were sick as it is easy to digest

You could try to use your risotto rice and see if it comes out well. Add more water as the rice has to over cook. And yes use butter instead of ghee.
