I am more interested in purchasing power parity (PPP). I guess many would not understand the importance of evaluating currencies using PPP, it's not about the strength of a currency, it's about how much you can buy for products/services using your currency in your domestic country. PPP will help you to understand whether your country currency is overvalued and undervalued when compared to other currencies.
I have lived in botswana south africa Zimbabwe and Swaziland and I have a business interest in both south africa and botswana and in the last 22 yes the pula has been stronger than the rand and these others are pegged to the rand that's namibia Lesotho andswaziland
Msi Ndhlovu You re right the rand of south Africa is weaker compared to the puula .So the person Who gathered the information needs to make enough research
People getting salty over which currency is stronger. IF you've studied economics, it is completely and utterly meaningless. 1 USD is 1000 Korean won. (It fluctuates around there). That just makes importing from Korea cheaper. Even the Kenyan shilling is stronger than the Korean won, but does that mean anything? South Korea is far more developed and has a bigger economy than any African country. The only time a currency matters is in the case of inflation (among a few things). Do people not realize that central banks actually control their currency.
Can you elaborate further am interested because I sense something wrong especially our Ghanaian Cedis. They says its strong but in reality its rather weak. Any help?
Get your facts right. All the above are false. Botswana is the strongest currency on the African continent. According to Time, Forbes and Financial institutions based in New York and London.

Having a weak currency is not necessarily a bad thing expecially if you follow an export promotion strategy; it makes your product cheaper in the international market. That's one reason why countries devalue their currency. Japan is a case in point...
