In RL APHE also doesn’t fuze at 45° angles and more because the round gets deflected, increasing friction in the fuze which rely on some detonator being driving into a firing pin or vice versa.
That’s like firing guns while pulling 20-30 Gs. The mechanism just fails under such circumstances.
