What's interesting about rF1 that I was never a hardcore simracer, but the mod selection, the customizable nature and the ease of running a dedicated server made me hosting a small league for like-minded weekend racers. Mostly random friends and friends of friends. Everyone had they custom team with their custom skin, so before each event I published a private mod pack with the cars, skins and tracks. We also used the rain plugin to spice things up a bit. We had a regular touring car series, and a bunch of "fun races" with Porsches, F3, trucks, historic cars, rally cars, rallycross cars, etc. You really made me sound like a boomer, thanks.
I loved Rfactor 1 especially with the Enduracers sportscars mod (LMP1, 2 and GT1 and 2 (period 2004 till 2009 I believe ) and had a league racing championship.. 4 hours of Le Mans in a corvette, great memories
@@lnzob It is interesting when I set rainy races... The 1992 rFactor Belgian GP was most interesting... Out of 26... only 7 finished... for me... A Ligier won the race... followed by Lotus duo in P2 and P3
rFactor 1 is one of the best. The fact people still make mods for this game, show how loved it is. I am currently playing an F1 1981 mod and yeeting the Lotus 88 around old Montreal. There are the latest F1 season mods as well. The F1 2024 mod just released a while ago. The AI is horrific though. You can make a move on the inside and they turn into you like you are not there. Highly advised to tone the AI aggression to around 30-40% otherwise you will just get rammed. As well as have damage set to 15-25% because of the ramming and the fact that the AI never survives Monaco.
Man I haven't seen this menu for a while... I remember when rFactor started gaining popularity I was not willing to go to it as I found it to be less than F1 Challenge 99-02 because it didn't have animated drivers arms and pit crews. Little did I know that only few short years later some of my best online experiences would come from rFactor racing in Balkan league using Renault Megane or a league with Fiat 500 with guys from a small forum I used to frequent daily. Oh, those were the days....
There´s nothing like drive old school f1 cars on Rfactor. The FF and the sound is perfect. 1979, 1988, 1990,91,93, 94 are my favs. The sound of 1990 and 1994 is real like.
Argentinian Simraicng still uses rFactor one as its base game (On here we have our own game made with the rFactor base, called Simulador Turismo Carretera) and to be honest, the quality of some mods arent very good, some are not well optimized or doesnt have accurate models, physics or sounds to their respective categories. none the less, at league level it has different levels of drivers depending in which league you might race. But the game is still enjoyable with the correct people.
I loved this game, I plan to play again with a proper pc. What I loved is that you could leave the pits during at the start of practice and stop at the lights at pitlane exit till they went green
I still play the VLN 2005 mod today and have reworked everything myself. It is the only game in which you can drive the VLN on the Nordschleife with over 100 cars.
Wooow, It sounds so damn strange people saying they were actually getting born when rFactor 1 was launched. Actually I was a veteran in Sim Racing when rFactor 1 was launched. I used to play Grand Prix franchise games, NASCAR Racing 1 and IndyCar Racing 2 before you even was born! You probably havent lived the big Grand Prix 2 and Grand Prix 3 hype before rFactor 1. Those were the days!
I used to race the Clio cup 2.0 on public server and it was so much fun, and then the Megane Trophy which again was great fun. When you could hop into a pub and people were actually trying to race properly instead of driving the wrong way. The F1 Ligier at Kyalami was great fun too, mental but good fun, this was all on a crappy wheel that would do like 460. The VHR Nascar mod was pretty good too, although I had nothing to compare it against it seemed like the thing to play at the time :D
CART Factor and the idt Champ Car mods were my gateway drug back to loving American Open Wheel Racing, and by extension, all motorsports again. I had stopped playing and watching for years.
I started sim-racing in late 2022 with f1 22 and rfactor and gtr2 now i even bought (legally) f1 21,20,19,18 because of nostalgia of watching the careers of youtubers,and now i have f1 24,assetto corsa,rfactor 2 and many others and it all started with rfactor because f1 22 i only played 80 hours
rFactor had some great mods but the vanilla fictional content was super solid. You should also look into SportsCar GT and the EA F1 games. ISI made those before rFactor with earlier versions of the same engine and a lot of rFactor mods were ported in from those games. CTDP and SimBin both got started on the EA F1 games, and Virtua_LM started on SCGT.

You can get any track you want, you can get any kind of cars you want, any most likely most of the addon contents are FREE in rFactor 1, not like the sequel and Assetto Corsa.

Is great seeing people revisit rfactor 1 For me i enjoy how easy is to modify small details, f1 challenge is better in offline and gtr2 is the best in endurace, but this game is the great mind point where you can race online (there still a great amount of leagues, specialy latinamerica and europe) and also the offline is enjoyable but sadly the default rfactor AI comes with limitations that can be fixed with tweaking .plr file, with some chsnges become like a step dow to F1 Challenge and GTR2 (for me the games with best AI along with GP4) Thanks for the video

Comedic timing aside, I know it will get old, and maybe already has, but you can’t stress enough about how impressive it is for an F1 mod to track down all the livery and upgrade changes throughout the season. I mean, CTDP 2006 came out 2 years after the actual season has concluded, in 2008, and updates were rolling out until 2010. (I’m not an oldie, just someone who likes reading changelogs if they aren’t too long) The Monaco one doesn’t happen to be Monaco New Layout 1.10, right, because I swear it is the spitting image of what I’m having, but what do I know, I got it this afternoon, after scouring the net for a year. And hey, I want some (or all really, I haven’t had any clue where to get 2006 season tracks 😭😭😭😭) of those tracks you have for singleplayer, if you could hit me up with them things. I’m only slightly older than you, sim racing wise, after all.

If you're still into rfactor 1 and want to try something new, than I can't recommend enough WCORR and PFL1 Rallycross Supercars. They're so unique and aren't well represented in other games

I think Trulli was actually sacked before the end of the 2004 season, even though he was ahead of Alonso in points. Just Briatore things.

Same. Back in the day you could literally download the demo from their official website, install it and then just get the full version executable from somewhere, replace the demo executable with that and boom you had the full version of rFactor. Still have it on my PC
