The Death By Rock And Roll album is an homage to two hugely important people in vocalist Taylor Momsen's life: Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who died by suicide in 2017 when Pretty Reckless were touring with them. The band's longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died in a motorcycle crash the following year. Pretty Reckless' longtime producer Kato Khandwala died on April 25, 2018, aged 47, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Khandwala, who was also their manager and friend, worked on their first three albums. This song, the title track of their fourth album, serves as a tribute to their late and lamented comrade. Khandwala coined the phrase "death by rock and roll" as the band's de facto motto. During this song, penned by vocalist Taylor Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips, the singer talks about her desire to live and die by rock 'n' roll.

I think some people miss that fact that all the ways she says she wants to go out are all ways that famous rock singers have died. Its a great song.

Fun fact: This song was written by their guitarist Ben Phillips in 2005 while he was a member of a band "Famous". That band included 3 members (Ben - vocals, guitar; Mark - bass; Jamie - drums). Then, in 2009/2010 Ben was writing some songs with Taylor for her band and then all of them decided to work together, so they like "teammed up" and took the name "The Pretty Reckless" which was created by Taylor. All three members from "Famous" joined Taylor. Taylor had a band before but members were always leaving due to taste differences.
You can find Bens' version of this song somewhere in vk i guess. The differences are: half step down, no solo (so Bens' song is shorter a bit) and as a result no 3rd verse. And this wasn't a full song because as Ben said, it was a demo song.
