I'm so curious whether we know whether Chevalier d'Eon was a real transgender, or was she forced to put on that role (woman) to hide his real identity as a spy?

Certainly seems like the latter, at least at the beginning. Got into it, though.

When he returned to Frznce the king asked him to choose.

She was always trans, the spy mission merely made her aware of that fact. She made the choice to remain outwardly-presenting-female because it's what she wanted.

The anime brought me here! (Of course, there's a sci-fi aspect to it.)

cool! I don't see people's issue with this, they don't want to believe that people have broken gender for centuries.

The life of Philippe D'Orleans, brother of the king Louis XIV, is interesting too. Considered as the grand father of Europe he was wearing dresses since childhood and was openly gay. And he had a lot of children with his two wives because it was his job...

no one finds it strange that its the americans and brits putting on this show and not the french. sure you'll get a couple interviews. you guys are always shaping history. lets see if you put this in its appropriate and proper historical context or do you beautify it and align it with todays current narratives?

    • @WillowTitov
      @WillowTitov 6 месяцев назад

What's being changed here? What's being "beautified"?
It's a historical account of a Transgender Woman working as a spy for King Louis, and then, when finished with her mission, remaining publicly transgender with the King's full approval.
That just sounds like a woman who had her life together.

Everybody knows the name of Chevalier d'Eon in France and the meaning. The first time I heard his story was in elementary school and the teacher was spoken about mysteries in french history. And the secret that doctors never talked about was to know if his sexual attributes were male or female. One century before Chevalier d'Eon the brother of Louis XIV, Philippe duke d'Orleans was educated since childhood like a girl, wearing dresses.
Another mystery for historians was to know if Richard Lionheart was gay because he was sleeping in the bed of a prince of France.
I think that in France, catholic country, the transgressions to the norms are assumed and people accepted it.

This is gorgeously delightful but I am going to take it to the 21st century because the law has.
Concerning women sports - one of the opposite gender can only compete in womens' sports if that one is anatomically correct. No apologies.
The playing field has to be leveled off.
IF transgendered females were allowed to play pro football, in the USA - the bone went through JOE THEISMANNS' skin, when they broke his leg, I watched it - they'd kill a woman. I am not saying there are no bad women out there. I am saying, if a transgendered man wants to compete in womens' sports, they must be anatomically correct and vice versa.
    Great documentary.
