As a Panthers fan, the hit from Trouba doesn't strike me as a 'dirty' hit. Just looks like a player who gets caught out of position and is trying his best to prevent an easy goal. Regardless of that, you can't be letting up short handed goals and expect to win when Shesterkin is in the other net

I don’t think it was premeditated or intent to injure at all. He’s just getting beat and is trying to get a piece of him so he doesn’t get completely walked. Reckless and bad play for sure, but there’s no way he’s out here TRYING to throw the most blatant elbow of all time.
Whether he hits people on the head or not, the fact that Trouba CONSISTENTLY uses his elbow is ridiculous. Goon tactic. What will it take for the league to actually start caring about player safety and do something about it?
Besides the other angle where trouba doesn’t make full head contact, and the precedent of the wennberg hit, I think the thing no one is talking about bc it’s trouba is that the Panthers brought this kind of play into the series. You cannot call for a suspension on Trouba and not Bennet. Period.
Trouba, whether you like it or hate it, leads with his forearm when he throws clean hits. He basically reaches out to his opponent, and puts his forearm on them, and then proceeds to run through his forearm and them with his body. When players literally dive out of the way in non-hockey ways, like in Carolina, or are able to make a last minute cut and weave, like in the last game, that lead forearm he is just trying to get on you, so he can follow through, ends up, sometimes, being elbow-ish contact to head-ish area. This last one doesn't even make contact with the head, and he elbow/forearm shivers him in the back of the shoulder, which maybe hurt or maybe the player was hoping for an Emmy. Literally nothing "dirty" about it, but if I guess if you don't understand anything about physics, or anatomy, or geometry even, your simple brain screams "elbow! head height! i'm so shook that is just happened! oh no!".
Exactly he just missed . Ironic trouba connected. I can count atleast 10 knees elbows thrown by florida players . Fwk them. This is why rempe must play incase they act up. They don't want that rempe smoke. Ide like to see tkchuck square up against rempe. And see that is not pastranak out there .bennet.. who ever LFGR
Lol its not even that serious. Yea he used the elbow but he wasnt aiming to hit him in his head with it, hes hella hunched & any head contact in slow mo looks bad. It was a penalty. Validly. He was more tryina push him to the outside than make a big hit on him or hurt him. He needs to not do that tho when hes frustrated/lookin to stop a rush but doesn't have the reach
Big Rangers fan who definitely has not liked Trouba’s overall play going back to late regular season. Chicken wing after getting beat here another example. We were fortunate it was called a minor. Don’t expect points from Troubs, but he HAS to be better defensively and physically(clean hits!). That said, agree Florida has no business complaining about calls. LGR!!!
Rodrigues fell down like he was shot and cradled his face hoping to draw a major. Trouba caught his shoulder. It was an effort worthy of a soccer player flopping on the ice like he lost an eye.
Not even sure that was even a penalty. Elbow never makes contact and the hit is on the shoulder. Penalty 2min at best maybe and you're talking suspension lol.
Yep standard was set when the hit on wennberg wasnt a 5 minute so i have no sympathy for the retaliation, and rodriguez sold it insanely to make it look worse. Extremely dirty is hitting a guy who doesnt have the puck and launching into his head blindside for absolutely no reason.
Both dirty hits, but not comparable in magnitude. Kulikov made a shoulder hit on a player who had just touched the puck. He was too late, but he would have been okay otherwise. Trouba stuck his elbow out, deliberately. This is never okay in any way shape or form, regardless of puck possession or intent. And he's a repeat offender, even if the league pretends he isn't.
And Rodrigues got hit in the jaw/neck area. Let me elbow you right there and try not to "sell it", would you? With all these insane comments saying Rodrigues faked, it's pretty clear the Boston fans are still mad.
Rodriguez clearly flopped though. It was a chicken wing for sure but he tried to sell it too much. Also the Panthers have gotten away with a few hits so it’s fair game.
I love how Trouba’d elbow is being the talking point when it only took up about 3 minutes of the game and Panthers were given 4 minutes to score… and gave up 1. How can there be no criticism for Florida when they haven’t even scored more 5v5 goals than the Rangers. It would be the talking point if the Rangers did that… acting like they’ve been perfect and dominate every period. Like gtf over it, we’ve seen what refs allow now dont be so dumbfounded. Ya’ll let 2 minutes of dominance at the end of periods take over your whole memory of the game.
Shots, attempts, possession, face offs, chances - everything was strongly in favor of FLA for the whole game. Rangers made some key plays but overall they were outplayed badly. this was a Shesterkin steal.
I genuinely don't understand how people can't see this...he hits him in the neck/shoulder. I agree that it's an elbow, and that it's dirty, and that it's dangerous...but the head is not the principle point of contact, which is what's required for a major. You can tell that's what it was by the way Rodrigues went down. He didn't collapse like he got his bell rung...he reached for his neck/shoulder because he got the sharp end of an elbow jammed right in there, which hurts like an absolute bitch. Hell, I fucking hate Trouba right now, he played an atrocious game and that was a dirty as hell play...but it's just not a five minute major, unless we're going to start using "intent to hit the head" as that standard.
It was a bad intent with the elbow, but he hit him mostly in the shoulder, Rodrigues was selling it trying to get the major, and if they didn’t give Kulikov a 5 for a late interference hit to the head with the shoulder, then they couldn’t give this one a 5. If they gave Kulikov a major, then I would have fully expected Trouba to get one here too
@@DDWyss ok so what do we say about Kulikov? He’s lucky Wennberg wasn’t severely injured after hitting him directly to the head with his shoulder after not being anywhere near the puck. Intent doesn’t matter in the letter of the law. What matters is what happened on the ice.
Exactly, I think they got the call right. Principle point of contact was the shoulder. 2 minutes for elbowing, 5000 dollar fine for a dangerous play. If anything a suspension would help the Rangers being Trouba has been nothing but a liability all playoffs.
so respectful of you to only have the game on your phone and not on the tv at that birthday party lol! i would have pushed to get the game on the tv haha
As a Rangers fan even though they keep winning so far, it just seems like there's no energy or fight most times. Igor just absolutely steals games for them and they just get that one bounce their way. Other teams are just heavy on the forecheck and physical but the Rangers aren't as much. Just want to see that power play get dialed in again
Reminds me of Richter and Lyndqvist teams playing without speed or energy and losing a majority of the effort battles. No Stanley Cup winning habits... Still, 🤞🏻🤞🏻L💙G🤍R❤
It's an elbow to the shoulder with the offender leaning his head into it. If people want to call head hits at every opportunity, then just skate with your head down the whole time and people can't hit you.
2 minutes maybe. The elbow hits the shoulder, it's a legal hit if his elbow is down. And Rodrigues sells it by falling backwards while leaning forward after being hit in the back?? He's flunking out of diving school with a preposterous performance like that. But good grief it's absolutely hysterical watching Panthers fans melt down when the chickens come home to roost. Take your licks and move on.
fan of neither team. Your boy throws blatant elbows all season every season and gets away with it. You can be a fan of the Rangers and also see a clearly cheap player. I'm sure devils fans 25 years ago knew Stevens was a dirty asshole
I don't really think he sold it, it probably hurt like an absolute mother f'er. Try jamming your fingers into the top of your shoulder between your neck and see how it feels...now imagine it's an elbow with a 200 lbs man behind it. I also don't think it was a five minute major, but it was honestly probably more painful than a hit to the head.
Yea, two wrongs don't make a right , so Trouba's hit was illegal. I would prefer my team, the Rangers, to stay within the rules, but the play in general in the NHL has degraded so much. I don't think Trouba plays dirty like Tkachuk , or Bennett.
Nothing new here -- Trouba has been getting away with this stuff for years. Not that I mind -- just karma coming back to the Florida Panthers for the mountains of dirty plays they have dished out
Florida made it pretty clear they were going to throw those kinds of checks when one of them almost took a Rangers head in game 2 and only got 2 minutes. Give them what they give.... I'm just glad this was one of the only times the refs made a call consistent to the way they called it in the previous game. 2 minutes for elbowing, fine. It's the playoffs, gonna do what you gotta do. Both teams are doing
All I gotta say, is turnabout was fair play... when trash Bennet punched Marchand in the face everybody jumped in the air with glee and said oh well. OH WELL.
@@BodyofWater_ I'm not from NY or condoning Trouba, but this is really the pot calling the kettle black. Not only that, the Panthers are a bunch of divers.
*I was about to make a comment on a SN video about Rangers fans thanking Trouba for his double-minor if the Panthers score another PP goal and tie it up when Goodrow scored that shorty.*
Trouba's problem isn't that he's a dirty player, it's that he's slow. He lines up checks, ends up being is a step (or two) late/behind and is forced to make a decision.... either completely whiff with his shoulder, or extend his chicken wing to try and at least get a piece of the opposing player. So I don't think it's fair to call it "premeditated". All that said, most Rangers fans wouldn't mind Trouba getting suspended for a few games.
I appreciate you mentioning that just because other things are missed/not called, that does not negate the fact that the trouba play was reckless and should have been called a major. Not saying that the Panthers did not deserve calls going against them, or even some retribution. But Trouba has had a couple of chances to chill out, and continues to try and end guys' careers.
All these people saying Rodrigues dove haven't taken a shot to the chin in a while. In fighting sports, MMA, boxing, etc, it's a pretty known effect that a shot on the chin will generally stun someone. You can say Trouba initiated contact with Rodrugies' shoulder, but that elbow went straight up to his neck and chin.
thank you for calling out this turd, he's honestly hurting the rangers being in there. also they didn't give him a double minor for that hit, he already had a hooking penalty and this happened on the delayed call
Trouba was pretty bad this game. Like he knew he was getting beat left and right and started making bad plays to try and make up for it? Trying too hard and doing poorly for it. Reffing has been poor the whole series. Not excusing what Trouba did, but it's as much a major as I believe it was Kulikov's hit on Wennberg was. Call it a wash and hope that Trouba squares his crap away.
As far as what's a penalty and what's not, or what's 'embellishment' and what's not, all I can say is in the NHL, You win some, you lose some. Thus it has always been and ever shall be.
Rodriguez flopped there; acted like he was really hurt and was back in on his next shift like nothing ever happened. Boudreaux on the NHL channel called out Tkachuk for flopping later in the game. They need to start being called for embellishment!
I don’t like that kind of hockey. I blame the coaches for that playstyle. Winning at all costs, fairness who ?, reckless. If I want to see that kind of hockey I watch boxing or MMA. And when another player gets dangerously hit all cry again and say NEVER AGAIN. Stop that BS and go for the puck and not the scalps of your opponent. You lost track NHL. Winning by killing doesn’t sound like something we should be proud of. It’s more a shame being only able to win by killing players. I really hope all your Mums and Dads are proud of their sons who have chosen this way of being successful. Rempe is poison for this game btw. But it’s the coaches creating such monster. Send him to wrestling. In a real sport based on fairness he is absolutely not well placed. You guys need anger management. Some of his fouls would end in court as he is attacking players to hurt and not to play hockey. Or maybe the US and Canada are just more into aggression, hurting people and joking about it, it’s all about sensation right ? Sex sells and violance and schadenfreude.
Well, so was Kulikovs hit in game 2. A team that has Lombard, Kulikov, Tkachuk and Bennet are not a team I want to hear complaints about the opposition being "dirty". Is what it is. On to the next.
It was an elbow that did not hit him in the head. 2 minutes was the right call. Rodriguez oscar winning performance then back on the ice in 2 minutes. Everyone can stop crying.
That was absolutely a elbow and shouldve been called as such but wasnt deserving as a major at all he hit body first Rodrigues definitely deserves an Oscar for that acting performance
Trouba's elbow was NOT a double minor penalty, as you called it at 1:01. Trouba was called for slashing against Bennett at seventeen thirty-five of the second period, AND elbowing Rodrigues on the same play. That gave him four minutes of penalty time. The four minutes was NOT from a double-minor elbowing call, but rather two separate penalties. The refs even reviewed it, so you may have saw something they didn't as to why you felt it was a double-minor?
hes trying to get a massive audience outside of regular rangers fans he does this all the time and doesnt call out the bullshit on both sides, because people love to hate the rangers all the time so it works out for viewership.
As a Panthers fan, it wasn't a major in my opinion. The elbow barely got him in the head it's targeted more towards the shoulder area. Wouldn't say it was much worse than what Kulikov did and that was also 2 minutes.
I’m a huge Rangers fan, but Trouba has been nothing less than dirty. Usually when he gets caught flat footed or just beat, which has been way too often during the playoff run.

As a Rangers fan, you can have him. Besides the borderline dirty play, he’s just terrible defender. I want him suspended so we can play better. Check our record this year without Trouba
The NHL fucked up by not suspending Sam Bennett for his sucker punch on Marchand. Now where they are already under major suspicion for being fixed could not suspend Trouba for that whiff of an intentional elbow.
Trouba leads with the elbow and somehow gets away with it. He is known for leading with the elbow. For some reason, the NHL protects him. In any case, this is looking like the Rangers year. They have lots of players contributing goals.
1:11 but Eck don’t you remember the hit on Wenburg in game 2? He didn’t even have the puck and was in the defensive zone when he was absolutely freight trained?
I agree it should have been a major. But the refs probably saw it differently... that he was trying to hit the elbow. He actually HITS the elbow first if you look at the video closely.

Literally nothing "dirty" about it, but if I guess if you don't understand anything about physics, or anatomy, or geometry even, your simple brain screams "elbow! head height! i'm so shook that is just happened! oh no!".
Intention? What about Erod whiffing the exact same thing later in the game...."the intent was there" so he should be suspended too right?
Common Trouba W
Thanks for your honest analysis here, Eck. A lot of your fellow Ranger fans can't bring themselves to drink from the trough of reality.
I was just looking for this! Perfect timing!
Extremely dirty is hitting a guy who doesnt have the puck and launching into his head blindside for absolutely no reason.
good thing thats not what Koly did. maybe watch the hit after you pull your head out of the rangers ass.
Panthers have Tkachuk, Lombard, Kulikov and Bennet and were talking about dirty play from the Rangers??????
@@justinmiller5660 Panthers are the dirtiest team in NHL why should anyone care about anything that happens to them.
That's jack edwards homer comment right there.

@@fananon1039 not going to comment about conquest here 😉
That laf goal imo is the goal of the playoffs so far
fr it feels like no one’s talking about it. especially considering he had an absolute beauty of a back hander earlier in the game
@@microwavesgommmmmmm yeah laf has got quite a good back hand very underrated
You mean when he beat Shesterkin? I agree.
I would say 2nd. Definity not better than Makars coast to coast
That's not the major requirement at all.
It was a bad intent with the elbow, but he hit him mostly in the shoulder, Rodrigues was selling it trying to get the major, and if they didn’t give Kulikov a 5 for a late interference hit to the head with the shoulder, then they couldn’t give this one a 5. If they gave Kulikov a major, then I would have fully expected Trouba to get one here too
Trouba should have been ejected for dangerous play. Rodrigues luckily not being hit worse should have nothing to do with it.
@@eroq it seemed like Miller and Trouba were trying to give that game away
@@xchirs_ shhh they nobody wants to talk about it unless Trouba does it
so respectful of you to only have the game on your phone and not on the tv at that birthday party lol! i would have pushed to get the game on the tv haha
Its like the hockey Gods are finally on our side because without a doubt, the Panthers owned us from the 3rd period on
Sorry but game 2 hit on rangers player just as dirty
💯🎯
It was to the shoulder that came up towards his neck, I’m more upset about the dive and embellishment from the panther player

Trouba chicken wing compilation, maybe they should get him on Hot Ones
Knew this series was gonna be brutal. B's can't muck up like the Panthers, but Rangers certainly can
Tiny detail: No double minot but minor for the slash and then the elbow the way you say it sounds like a double for elbowing.
5min major. All. Day. Long.

If you see the other back side view Trouba grazes the back of his shoulder how about 2 for diving
It's an elbow to the shoulder with the offender leaning his head into it. If people want to call head hits at every opportunity, then just skate with your head down the whole time and people can't hit you.
2:35 Very scary moment when LaF gets tripped and his skate slices through the air near Bobrovsky's neck.
Nailed? Grazed maybe, but Rodriguez gets the Oscar. Terrible take today eck
Rodrigues
The panthers have been the most dirty team in the playoffs. And the refs are on there side
Its playoff hockey. You've got to do something terrible to get a major. Had trouba connected it would be a different story.
I'm sure devils fans 25 years ago knew Stevens was a dirty asshole
he was just trying to give the florida floppers something to actually fall over for
The elbow hit the shoulder/pad before head. You can see the jersey ripple before the head contact and Rodriques sold the call hoping for a 5.
LOL what a hot take. It doesn't matter where it landed - its that he threw the elbow. Again. Dirty play from a dirty player.
@johnwalter9696 Are you guys required by law to post imbecile takes on the internet?
True.
@JBbird702 against a dirty team so it evened out
Yea, two wrongs don't make a right , so Trouba's hit was illegal. I would prefer my team, the Rangers, to stay within the rules, but the play in general in the NHL has degraded so much. I don't think Trouba plays dirty like Tkachuk , or Bennett.
Nothing new here -- Trouba has been getting away with this stuff for years. Not that I mind -- just karma coming back to the Florida Panthers for the mountains of dirty plays they have dished out
Barclay is so clutch he play for San Jose and he got the ot win and game 5 goal and just clutch in playoffs and when they need it.😂
Florida made it pretty clear they were going to throw those kinds of checks when one of them almost took a Rangers head in game 2 and only got 2 minutes.
OH WELL.
Florida getting a taste of its own shit? No way.
Exactly. I guess no one watched game 2
@Hatemode_NJ bro exactly. Nobody is talking about the Florida guy almost taking a Rangers head off. Wtf?
His elbow is leading. Y’all are delusional and smooth brained. Not surprised if you’re from New York
Omg thank you! I’m not condoning rangers doing it, but game two was like Saturday night raw fir Florida. Now Florida fans wanna pearl clutch? Gtfo
Didn't Trouba do this to Sid a few years ago? Dude is a total menace.
But they lost.
Trouba had a TERRIBLE GAME......but he hit him in the shoulder.
Rodriguez flopped there; acted like he was really hurt and was back in on his next shift like nothing ever happened. Boudreaux on the NHL channel called out Tkachuk for flopping later in the game. They need to start being called for embellishment!
Clean all day!
He didn’t hit his head. How about embellishment?

Captain Elbow
That elbow is like grabbing the tights in wrestling without the ref looking.
It was an elbow that did not hit him in the head. 2 minutes was the right call. Rodriguez oscar winning performance then back on the ice in 2 minutes.
Everyone can stop crying.
Nothing any Pantherhasnt done and got away with for 3 series so far. . Panthers want to play this way, fuck em.
Trouba is just bigger then a lot of players, so it just looks bad , honestly he is not out there to play dirty 🤷♂️
He never hit his head. You claim to know his intention. Know the winning lottery numbers?
Your jaw is part of your head
@@sacul7572 See the reverse angle. Shows ZERO head contact. Don't be fooled by the view you are seeing here.
Did you not see all the non call illegal hits the panthers made
hes trying to get a massive audience outside of regular rangers fans he does this all the time and doesnt call out the bullshit on both sides, because people love to hate the rangers all the time so it works out for viewership.
@@thegreatmrt your probably right honestly
As a Panthers fan, it wasn't a major in my opinion. The elbow barely got him in the head it's targeted more towards the shoulder area. Wouldn't say it was much worse than what Kulikov did and that was also 2 minutes.
I’m a huge Rangers fan, but Trouba has been nothing less than dirty. Usually when he gets caught flat footed or just beat, which has been way too often during the playoff run.

@GooseGumlizzard your not making it to the conference finals without him....some rangers fans are delusional.
They have lots of players contributing goals.
im not really that surprised since the kulikov hit was almost the same and ruled a double minor (i think)
Not even double minor, standard 2 minute minor for interference.
If any team deserves it, its the Florida Panthers

I talked about that in the video for that game
goody has been so insane these playoffs
I agree it should have been a major. But the refs probably saw it differently... that he was trying to hit the elbow. He actually HITS the elbow first if you look at the video closely.
