Ohhhh, I knew this would be a fantastic review, and it was indeed!!! Thank you. I just love Vostoks for what they are. Rugged, reliable, and with some unique quirkiness 🙂 The bezle is a friction bezle held in place by a wire clip which sits in a groove in the case. Tension can be adjusted by changing the bends in the wire. No ratchet action though. To me however, the most unique feature of Vostok watches is the case back design. The case back is held in place by a locking ring threated to the case. As you screw the locking ring pressure is applied to the case back, which in turn presses straight down onto the rubber seal, thus there's no sheer force applied to the seal itself. The case back/cover is mated to the case by 2 grooves. Just ingenious engineering which Vostok has been using forever. I'm amazed other watch manufacturers are not using this design as it is so much better than the typical rotating case backs. I own 3-4 Vostoks and love them all. Thank you again for a wonderful review, and your incredible sense of humor. All the best. Cheers.
Thanks very much as always kind sir! Great info you've added there - really useful and much appreciated! I think I'll be adding a few more Vostoks to the collection soon 😀👍

Great review, love the pointing in the intro, interesting watch, would I buy one? Yes, would I cast you as a submarine commander? NO! Your accent is gash! Nice work, very enjoyable sir!
If you like the 100 case, the 160 case is slightly more curvy whereas the 170/710 and the 150 are more squat and square. The 090 like the 170 are actual "ministry" cases which refers to them both being issued to Russian divers and navy special forces, I've featured quite a few Vostok's on my channel including a pair of rare Soviet 119's plus my "home built" 090 white radio room I built using off the shelf new parts to throw together into what has remained my favourite Vostok to date.
Very nice. I have some Vostoks. I personally like the 710-series, also known as the ministry case. I actually got mine from Amazon, but hey were sold they a Third Party based in Russia. The date is a pain, but you are dealing with old tech here. I don’t where mine a lot, but I definitely would want the date right.
I really like the Vostok Amphibia, and I have several. With such history, reliability, value, and 10 year service interval, what more could you want in a rugged tool watch? Yes, they are a little quirky, but it isn't a deal breaker for me.
Hilarious review. Subscribed! I'm English and have lived in Moscow for about nine years. Your Russian pronunciation is...better than some of my expat friends, if a great deal funnier. I've become a bit of a Vostoholic myself, though I can pick up my fix from a shop in the centre. Sadly, they don't deliver outside Moscow 😪. Prices for Amphibias, Komandirskies and Vostok Retros range from £20 (yes, really! ) to about £170, with almost every other price point in between covered. Thanks again. Looking forward to your next review! Cheers 🍻!
Great review. This model is particularly attractive with the orange bezel and stitching. There is a brutal simplicity to a Vostok that I admire. Cult favourite.
Fortunately for my wallet, I haven't been fully bitten by the Vostok bug....yet! But I can see why they are so popular 😃. Yeah - the Oris is a stunner. They make some really lovely pieces. My wife has the 39.5mm black dial Aquis Date and she loves it!
"A shit ton" of Vostoks indeed. The available range is staggering. I too have just bought my first Vostok, a manual wind Komandirskie from ebay. Also seems to be infinite opportunities for customisation with a myriad of faces, hands, bezels etc. Pre-owned can be obtained quite cheaply. A nice solid watch for the money.
Nice review mate. Finally bought my first Vostock last nite .It's a custom model and bought it from a UK seller for a fast delivery so paid thru the nose @£139 but a one off so worth it .Blue wave dial and a batman bezel with an insanely sharp looking edge like a buzz saw on the shark mesh .Every collection needs a Vostock and hope it will scratch an itch .
I don't think in this case they've put any more money into the watch, but it does mean the overall price is kept as low as possible - which is all good to me! 😀👍 It's funny - when you look at most high end watches, the money that they spend on packaging must be huge! Breitling now offer alternative packaging on their watches (which is more to do with environmental impact rather than price) and the amount of people that moan about that is incredible! Thanks for commenting my friend - and have a great weekend 😀🤘👊
I recently got a Amphibian Classic 170549, from Meranom. Bit over £120 with an added mesh strap and express courier (and customs). free shipping was available, with I suspect no customs to pay, but was estimating 2-3 months. The one i got is brilliant if you want a more 'classy' Vostok, it screams 70s design and has no date so the lack of quick set date not a problem. Also has a glorious sandwich dial with magnificent blue sunburst and I'm really happy with it.
Great review, i purchased the same watch from the same seller. Unfortunately my watch stopped working after a week but Red Star Watches have asked me to send it back for them to take a look. Fingers crossed i get it back soon!
I'm awaiting delivery of a green wave Amphibia from Red Star at the same price. Generally, prices have risen in the last year and there are serious delays when buying direct due to the war. If you want one quickly, in a particular finish, you will have to pay a slight premium, which I was prepared to do.
Only just discovered your excellent channel and very funny videos. Thanks for the review on the amphibia and I agree that you probably paid a tad over for it. I recently picked up an amphibia Scuba dive from UK seller for £50. I have ordered a Komandirskie from Russia and tracking indicates its loitering in Russian customs. I paid £30 for that so I figure that even if it never arrives I shan't be too much out of pocket. Good luck with the channel. Very informative and entertaining.
Hi Tony. Thanks for your kind words sir! Well £30 is not a lot to pay indeed. And £50 from a UK seller is brill! Was that ebay? I think I'm going to have to get some more if they're that cheap here! 😃👍
Enjoyable review 👍 . That's a nice looking Vostok, not cheap but the bezel and strap are nicer than the standard ones so you got reasonable value if you add in the quick delivery. For me, the only major flaw is the quick set date, so I bought ones without. The bezel is handy for timing and I like the way you don't have to go all the way round again if you miss the mark.
Thanks my friend! Yeah the lack of quick set date is the only real drawback, but as you say - there are plenty of no-date models out there. Good point about the bi-directional bezel too! 😃👍

I realised that when I watched it back 🤣👍
Keep your channel going, your ganna be supahuge.
A thousand thankyou's my friend! Very kind of you to say 😊🙏
I like your Amphibia much better than your Oris.
Well that's testament to how nice the Amphibia looks! Just goes to show - if you like a watch, it doesn't have to cost a fortune 😃👍
Dude you got ripped...I paid $120 Aussie for mine
Oh I know mate! As I said in the review - I wanted to ensure it came quick, and getting it from a UK supplier meant paying a bit more 👍
At least the bezel will always line up! More than can be said for some watchmakers… 😂
Absolutely 😂😂😂
In soviet russia, the watch is not limited edition, but YOU!
😆 They are built to last forever! 😃👍👍👍
Great review Borat 👊🏻
😄 I did think Borat when watched it back! 😄 Thanks my friend ✊
That's what it reminded me of. I couldn't think what it is was 😆
Great accent - STRONG LIKE BULL!
😄👍
Vostok the B is a Cyrillic V
Try," MERANOM" web shop.Supper review!
Thanks my friend! Yes - I now realise Meranom is the place to go 😄👍
Russia is not in EU, just as Scotland is not in EU anymore :-)
Right Nigel, Vostok Europe is a different company from ukraine
Thanks Peter - and their watches are awful! (In my opinion 😄)
Not from Ukraine. From Lithuania
Normally amphibias are for sale for $68. If the Vostok bug has bit you, go dateless from Meranom next time!
Never seen a planet amphibia before.
Certainly will my friend! Thanks 😃👍
I am at 6 now ...
6!!! Nice one my friend! I've got to pull my finger out and get my second! 😄👍
Anne Phibia ha ha ha she’s a good old girl
Think il get a 100 case next. Btw 115 pounds for a vostok your getting ripped off mate. 60 quid all day long. Did you search the net for the most expensive vostok and think thats a decent price.
I new perfectly well it was a tad expensive, I think I say in the review that I wanted peace of mind by getting it from a UK supplier 😁
@@SirWatchGeek lol nice one. I enjoy the experience of getting them from Russia, parcel covered in Russian stamps and waiting about six weeks for it to arrive.👍
I've ordered about eight over the years and they've all arrived safely
@@Barnaby_bo That's good to know! I'll definitely be buying direct next time 😃👍
The vostok looks better than your Oris.
Well as they say - beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Just goes to show that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a cracking watch 😀👍
@@SirWatchGeek indeed sir!
haha! Brilliant
Thanks Mark 🙏👊👊👊
Даже учитывая кожаный ремешок и другой безель всё равно дорого,у нас стоят они примерно 4к р.(40 фунтов)
Next time I will definitely buy direct from Russia! 😄👍
