As someone who owns an upgraded Neo and pulled 5 shots a day with it for nearly 6 months, I feel that cheaper is better. Why, because if you really drink a lot of espresso, you are probably going to upgrade, I did. So, for someone getting their feet wet or who only drinks the occasional espresso, I think this flex is a fine deal. I feel like the workflow of the flair is more involved than most realize it is going to be before they buy it. Having said that: is my routine faster on my Bambino Plus? I don't think it is, but it feels like it and clean-up is easier. Those things are important. The price difference is dramatic though. For travel, I'd take the Picopresso. (Actually, we use a Minipresso NS2 atm but plan to upgrade.)
Definitely- been thinking about dipping my toes into home espresso. This is just coming into the UK at £99. With both baskets can start using with the Wilfa Svart and if enjoyable will get a Barazta Encore ESP. I really fancy a Cafelet Robot but that is now £299 so quite a jump up to start with. So have now pre ordered one.
I have a Pico and love it just as much for home use as well as travel, and the portability is quite a big perk over the flex at the same price point IMO. Wouldn't feel the need to upgrade from the Pico until I had the budget for something with alot more control like the Flair 58. Btw I'm also using my aeropress go lid as my dosing tray, the flexibility works great especially when pouring into hand grinders :)
I was going to buy this exact machine, i ended up up buying the classic because it was all metal so it seemed more stable, then a few days later before i even received it i got buyers remorse and bought the flair 58😂 still happy with my decision, much more difficult to use as its a legit portafilter but its a fun learning curve
Never had a Neo, but this one looks affordable and seems to produce high quality espresso. Maybe it's a good way to start and if you really like this hobby, you can start saving for the most premium model and/or also buy something like a nanofoamer
I had flair neo, it almost broke my table with how much force i exterted. After that i say no more to hand press unit. becareful if you use wooden table.
I'm glad I bought Flair Neo for 125$ during holiday season because this one looks a bit like a gimmick..almost the same price as Neo's,but much cheaper material..they are definitely cutting corners with this model
Thanks for the video! The "overpressure valve" is not really a valve. They are called burst discs. Usually they have an X embossed to have a reliable burst pressure and known fracture pattern.
What do you think about the Flex? Will it make home espresso more accessible?

Did you not need to preheat the chamber?

I stated on a 2020 Neo. I loved it. I moved to Flair 58 in 2023 and gave the Neo to a friend’s daughter to start her Espresso journey.

Yes, as far as I'm aware there will only be one Neo going forward

Yeah, my guess is that the Neo was a bit too good and cutting into sales of the Classic. I actually think it looks nicer as well.

If I had the counter space, I’d get the steel neo so I can go outside pourover/ filter coffee.
