Queen was the first band to have all of their members inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Each one wrote hits and because of that Queen was never stuck in one genre of music. You will not regret going through their catalog of music. “I Want It All”; “Innuendo”; “The Show Must Go On”; “Who Wants To Live Forever” and “White Queen Live at the Hammersmith Odeon” are just some great songs of theirs among many. White Queen in particular is amazing!

Queen had three (yes, three) amazing lead vocalists which is why nobody could imitate their harmonies. In the early days of Queen, Freddie, Roger, and Brian all sang lead, usually on songs they had written themselves. Freddie always had throat issues which is part of the reason for so many cups.

Dude welcome to the wonderful world of Queen! Roger is amazing, and let's not forget Brian May on the guitar. He's consistently rated in the top guitarists. Sometimes people overlook the bass but their songs would never have been the same without John Deacon. Every one of those guys are in the Songwriter Hall of Fame. Their studio work is great but they're one of the rare bands who are better live. I'm sure you've been told to watch Live Aid and you absolutely have to do that. Their early work also definitely deserves to be listened to also. Check out White Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon. I promise that your brain will explode. Step into the Queen rabbit hole. You won't regret it.

  • @Tara_S125
    @Tara_S125 Год назад +22

Haha!! The look on your face when Freddie hit that first big note is priceless! Welcome to the world of Queen! 😊
There was beer on the piano, but Freddie didn’t drink beer at a live show because he didn’t want to burp. He usually kept a cup of tea with honey and would drink that before he was going to hit a big note. If you notice, that’s exactly what he did. He sat down at the piano and took a sip before hitting that big note.
Freddie is considered the best front man of all time and Queen is the best live band ever, in my opinion. They didn’t have auto tune back then, but these guys didn’t need it. Each live performance is a little different because Freddie didn’t want to sound cookie cutter and felt that the audience can hear the album version anytime, so he wanted to give the live audience something different.
The official video of this song has more harmonies with a gospel feel. Freddie was a huge Aretha Franklin fan and she inspired the song.
Thank you for acknowledging Roger Taylor! Many reactors don’t mention his vocals while playing the drums. I can’t imagine how hard that would be. He wrote a song called I’m in love with my car and you can check out the live performance of him singing it while on the drums. Another song that both Roger and Brian sing is No One But You. Brian wrote the song after Freddie passed and plays piano and guitar along with the vocals.
If you decide to watch the movie, just know that it isn’t completely accurate. They changed things for dramatic effect. Also, in the movie, it shows Freddie first meeting Brian and Roger, but they were actually all friends beforehand. Freddie was the lead singer of a different band and Brian and Roger were in a band called Smile. Freddie would give them suggestions and stuff and when their lead singer left, Freddie joined Smile and the band was renamed Queen and they found John Deacon to join as bass guitarist. Roger has said that it was difficult to find a bass player because either the person could play, but didn’t get along with the band or they got along with the band, but couldn’t play.
Roger Taylor is considered one of the greatest drummers and Brian May is considered one of the greatest guitar players.
I look forward to more Queen reactions!! 😊

If you'd like to hear Brian and Roger sing, they did a beautiful tribute to Freddie after his death called "No One But You", the video is beautiful but very emotional. Freddie kept tea with honey on top of the piano to keep his throat from drying out during long concerts. I'm sure some of the glasses had beer, but Freddie said he would never drink beer on stage and risk burping into the mic, it would be disrespectful to the audience.

Roger (drums) and Brian (lead guitar) are both lead vocalists in their own bands and were both lead vocalists before Queen. They both do sing lead on a few Queen songs. John (bass) doesn't really like to sing other than to occasionally add some backup vocals. Roger sings most of this song along with Freddie and Brian adds in the harmonies. The main two writers for Queen were Freddie and Brian but all four members wrote songs, each had at least three #1 hits, each of them is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the band is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All four are college grads. Freddie had a degree in Design, Fashion and Advertising, John an advanced degree in Electronics, Roger a degree in Biology and Brian a PhD in Astrophysics. Brian built his guitar as a teen along with his dad from things they had laying around the house. The main part was built from wood from a 100 year old fireplace. Brian still uses that same guitar nearly exclusively, His guitar is known as "The Red Special" and fondly referred to as "The Old Lady" or as Freddie called it "The Fireplace." John Deacon built a small amplifier out of things he found in a dumpster that could uniquely distort sound. The amp is known as "The Deacy Amp" and Brian uses it to make his guitar sound like horns or strings. Many have tried but so far, nobody has been able to duplicate The Deacy (pronounced DEE-KEY Amp). John was called Deacy by the other band members so the amp was named after him. Roger was in Dental school when he had to drop out because Queen was now big enough to be touring and making albums and there was no time for him to continue with his studies. So that is a little bit of history on the band members. Roger records these days as Roger Taylor but in the past his band was called "The Cross." Both Brian and Roger still tour as Queen + Adam Lambert and continue to sell out every show that they do. Roger and Brian are both in their 70s and still rocking it the hard way.

Roger Taylor AND Brian May have both done solo albums as well as sung lead on various Queen songs! John Deacon, the bassist, was the only one who didn't really sing (backup on rare occasion), though he played a wide variety of instruments and wrote some huge hits (You're My Best Friend and Another One Bites the Dust, among others!) They're the only band whose members have each written at least one number-1 hit, I believe. Everyone could also play more than one instrument, and they all had college degrees. Freddie was a talented artist with a degree in design, and guitarist Brian May actually has a PhD in astrophysics. Yep. If you want to see more of Roger singing live, I HAVE to suggest I'm in Love with My Car from this same concert! It follows a shortened version of Killer Queen (which I also suggest you watch the official video for!) EDIT: And yes, they're all still alive except for Freddie, who sadly passed in 1991 at the age of 45, as I'm sure you already know.

Roger Taylor is one of the best singing drummers, check out his song from his solo career Say It's Not True, the original lyric version.
Queen was the most diverse band, they wrote their own stuff in cca. 15 different genres, created beautiful harmonies in the studios, but the live versions were on another level, Freddie with his insane energy, charisma and stage presence put the crown on them. They were a tight bond band with equal rights and talent. Freddie was a huge fan of Aretha Franklin who was the queen of soul music and he wrote this song as a tribute to Aretha.
I enjoyed your reaction and hope you will stay with us for a long Queen journey. Pls, check out Fat Bottomed Girls at Milton Keynes 82.

With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila.

@James Crane - Ratty has the firsthand knowledge, but I have a question: I thought Freddie drank only water and what I think of as his throat potion, during concerts. I know Freddie liked beer, but is it just a myth that he didn’t drink beer during concerts because he didn’t want to burp while performing?

    - Under Pressure (either live at Wembley 1986 or live at Montreal 1981 are both great options)
    - Killer Queen and I’m in love with my car (live at Montreal 1981, same video for both songs)
    - Dragon Attack (live Montreal 1981). If you enjoy Another one bites the dust you’ll love this one.
    - Dont stop me now (live Hammersmith 1979) A bit older but amazing vocals from both Freddie and Roger
    - White Queen live
    - We are the Champions live Wembley 1986
    - Radio Gaga 1986 live
    - One Vision and Tie Your Mother Down (live Wembley 1986). In this one Queen’s energy is incredible, specially Freddie.
    - Another one bites the dust (Montreal 1981)
    - Who wants to live forever (Wembley 1986 or Budapest 1986)

All four wrote hit songs. Worked together to bring us perfection, on albums and on stage! btw. The songs you mentioned - Deacon wrote Another One Bites The Dust, Freddie wrote Somebody to Love, We are the Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody. Brian wrote We Will Rock You. Roger Taylor has many Albums...excellent singer. Deacon doesn't sing...says he can't. The are lovely guys...all well educated..Brian now has PhD.Roger BS in Biology, Deacon, advanced degree in Engineering and Freddie College Diploma in Art..designed the Queen logo. btw...you heard Roger's high notes in Bohemian Rap...

Roger Taylor is the lead singer of his own band called The Cross. And yeah, he also sings the David Bowie part of Under Pressure in concerts now opposite Adam Lambert, but originally opposite Freddie of course. They're still touring the world with Adam Lambert singing lead and Brian, Roger, and their 1980s+ keyboard player Spike Edney, as well as a newish bassist whose name I can't remember. John no longer performs or tours with the band, though he's still involved in the financial management, I think.

@Debra Moore - I’m picky, I know. I think Roger himself said that he got bored with studying dentistry and switched to Biology, completing a degree. Brian deferred his studies a l-o-n-g time due the band’s success. He resumed, going on to earn his PhD in Astrophysics. John’s degree is in Electronics, not electrical engineering. Where things get confusing is that John was an *electronics* engineer, leading to his creation of the Deacy amp.
