I loveeee the format!! Multiple versus lists in one is just such a cool idea! I haven’t dove too far in racing games, but now I really want to get downforce and some others on your list!! Thanks for the list friends! 🥳
I love racing games too…my favourites are 1) Rallyman GT (on Board Game Arena) 2) Pitchcar 3) Flamme Rouge 4) Jamaica Also backed kickstarters that are racers 1) Rallyman Dirt 2) Tiny Turbo Cars 3) Long Shot
Some racing games that you might want to try. Formula D (or formula De) - straightforward racing with dice.more realistic version of racing where you down shift and up shift each time you roll dice. Royal Turf (redone as Winners Circle) same designer as quest for el dorado. Basic horse racing and dice rolling and some basic betting. Simple, but fun. Pitch car - flicking a disk on a track with Jumps and turns and loops. More of a party game but a lot of fun. snow tails - sled dog racing. Only played once but liked the mechanic of controlling how you move the sled. Odins ravens- 2 player only. Race between Odins two ravens. It’s a bit abstract but definitely has racing vibe to it. Also. The remake may not be as good. Think they changed some of the rules and newer one isn’t quite as good (though looks better). Try the Kosmos version. Ave Ceasar - chariot racing, one of Tom vasels earlier recommendations. Is a lot of fun in how you can cut people off. Movement controlled by cards. But it may be a bit old now. Would prefer if they added ability to have chariots fight one another while racing.
It's a year since this video was posted, and I agree with your No1 BTW, Camel Up rocks(!), but have you tried Ready Set Bet? It's an absolutely brilliant game, and Heat would press Down Force hard, indeed I think it's better. Very good video, really enjoyed this one!
The racing game that I've played most online has been Rallyman: GT (on BGA). The racing game that I've play the most in person is PitchCar. Actually, I suppose Mille Bournes would count as a racing game; I played it a lot in person back in college.
PitchCar works really well as a family game, or with groups of mixed abilities. There's obviously dexterity involved, but also tactics as well. It takes a little time to set up the track, so my brother's family tends to set it up and keep it out for a while before they put it away again, but that assumes you have a table where you can leave it set up.
"Winner's Circle"(2001) is a fun game of horse racing where players bet on several of seven horses and try to gain the most money by the end of the game.
Cool video! After watching this, I realize this is a mechanism I need to add more of to my collection. I definitely recommend Summer Camp as an alternative to El Dorado. Really fun deck-building/racing game my partner and I love at two player.
Great idea & format. Here are some ideas for your new vs series: -Disney Villianous Character rankings -best 2 player only games - best roll / flip n writes - best games to play on board game arena vs in person Was on the fence about buying camel 🐪 up and cubitos... I'm sold! My next purchases 👍 Good luck 😃
Cool video! I like this idea & format. We really like Downforce but haven't played the others yet. We did just pick up a used copy of Jamaica, but it's still on the shelf. I've been trying to find Camel Up but it looks like its between printings. Happy gaming!
have you played any escape room style games? that might be fun :) I only have the Quest for El Dorado from your list and we love it! I make my own elaborately hard routes which is a fun challenge. my other races games: Odin’s Ravens (really fun quick two player card game), Summit the Board Game (climbing a mountain, cool design and the designer is from Thunder Bay! 🇨🇦), Mush! Mush! (which I got to play with my dog sledder friends but haven’t yet) and Amber Route (I love because it’s kinda weird) :)
We’ve played one exit game I believe? Would have been awhile ago and I rennet there were too many cooks in the kitchen to make it enjoyable. Definitely going to check out these recommendations. Odins Ravens seems really cool and love the Canadian connection on Summit!
Nice. Have you heard of Lacorsa? I think the games you reviewed are more accessible to more people, and I do like several of them. Lacorsa is more of a niche game for people who are really into grand prix racing, but I really like the mechanic of the mix of playing cards plus the cars overtaking and the way they handle gaps between the cars. It plays really smooth and is pretty quick to me, and is simple and elegant.
After watching the gaming week with Camel up I'm not surprised its higher , but downforce is super fun! Maybe you could make a list of your top favorite 2 player games (Like 10?) and do this format with that?
My wife and I very much enjoy racing games, typically at larger player counts though. Some of our favorites are: Ave Caesar, by Wolfgang Riedesser Mississippi Queen, by Werner Hodel Powerboats, by Corné van Moorsel Turf Horse Racing or Winner’s Circle, by the good Doctor Knizia Um Reifenbreite, by Rob Bontenbal Leaping Lemmings, by John Poniske & Rick Young (not a traditional race, but feels like it should count)
Hi! Out of curiosity, if you ever got to play them, what do you think about these racing games: Snow tails Mush! Mush! : snow tails 2 Long shot: the dice game Ready set bet Heat pedal to the metal Rallyman GT
We’ve played Snow Tails, Long Shot: Dice Game, Ready Set Bet, and Heat since this video. I would say first off, Ready Set bet is way more of a betting game than a racing game. Snow tails was super unique, haven’t played much else like it. Long Shot is very good and a much smaller footprint than the others. And Heat deserves all the hype it’s getting
Great list and fun format But it is Pitch Car by a hundred miles for me. But after that probably Flamme Rouge and Downforce. I like all the games on your list a lot except Camel Up, not sure why, it just doesn't work for me.
Nice, I was thinking about doing something like this except for a top 100 haha. Games like viticulture or root are kind of racing as well, just to a point threshold rather than a spacial element.
I just don’t like Downforce. I try and try and try but no. Just no. Probably my least favorite racing game. Camel up is a far superior betting/racing game imo.
I really enjoyed this format 👍. One day when you run out of ideas form your shelves… I’d love to see you do the same thing for games you play on BGA!
Great idea!!!
I loveeee the format!! Multiple versus lists in one is just such a cool idea! I haven’t dove too far in racing games, but now I really want to get downforce and some others on your list!! Thanks for the list friends! 🥳
Thanks so much Tim! Highly recommend Downforce, it gets a lot of love around here. Hoping to land a physical copy soon!
This is a really cool format. Can’t wait to see more.
Yay! Glad you liked it
I loved this format. Camel Up is one of my favorite. When my brother and his family come into town, we have spent hours and hours playing this game.
It’s so good!!! Love that you have that experience with it.
I love racing games too…my favourites are
1) Rallyman GT (on Board Game Arena)
2) Pitchcar
3) Flamme Rouge

Ohhh we need to play some of these!! Thanks for this!
You really should revisit this list as you talk so much about racing games and I would be interested in your current rankings!
We might do that in 2023!!! Stay tuned for it!
I will also say this is an amazing way to rank! I would be interested in your favorite worker placement games or co-op experiences.
Thank you! Definitely two we will be doing down the road!

Very nice series. Have only played Camel Up of those. I like it.

We’ve heard a lot about pitch car! Seems cool

@@DarinMcGrew we don’t yet (animals), but soon!
Yeah, I get the animals thing. We have our Christmas tree on a low table to keep the ornaments above dog level.
"Winner's Circle"(2001) is a fun game of horse racing where players bet on several of seven horses and try to gain the most money by the end of the game.
Ohhh thank you!! Will check into it!
Impressive that would be my ranking too, except Cubitos that i never played but i saw people playing it (i want to try that game).
You should try it!!
Cool video! After watching this, I realize this is a mechanism I need to add more of to my collection. I definitely recommend Summer Camp as an alternative to El Dorado. Really fun deck-building/racing game my partner and I love at two player.
Will check that one out for sure!
Diggin' the VS. series! Jamaica is so good, you have to play it with the Crew expansion if you haven't yet.
Ohhh we will for sure look into that!
Rank the best (most fun to play) Disney Villainous characters, including all the expansions.
You know you want to.
We may already be doing this. No spoilers!!!
Nice! I'll continue to take credit for the idea though. 😉
""You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.' -Wayne Gretzky' -Michael Scott" -Jon Tripp
This has me roaring laughing. Well done.
Great idea & format. Here are some ideas for your new vs series:

I would love to see the top of your tile placement games :)
Love this!

Definitely get Jamaica to the table - then let us know what you think!
Love this format would love to see more videos like this
More are coming!!
I am so relieved you picked Camel Up as #1.
No brainer really!
have you played any escape room style games? that might be fun :)

Love it! Adding this to the content list!
Formula D, you have to shift gears while racing. What gear you are in depends on what dice you roll. Whole bunch of different maps to play on too.
Yea I have heard this! For sure a game we are likely to pick up at some point.
Really enjoying your content. Have you tried Rallyman GT?
Not yet! But it’s one we really want to try out
My wife and I very much enjoy racing games, typically at larger player counts though. Some of our favorites are:
Ave Caesar, by Wolfgang Riedesser
Mississippi Queen, by Werner Hodel
Powerboats, by Corné van Moorsel
Turf Horse Racing or Winner’s Circle, by the good Doctor Knizia
Um Reifenbreite, by Rob Bontenbal
Leaping Lemmings, by John Poniske & Rick Young (not a traditional race, but feels like it should count)
Ohhh thanks for the suggestions!!
In Downforce, you BID to get ownership of a car at the beginning and you BET on cars three times throughout the race.
Thanks for the clarification!
Nice video. Try flame rouge. Excellent list. Since I play mostly 2 players camel up is not an option.
Fair enough on the 2p restriction. We are for sure getting Rouge, just a matter of when!
Hi! Out of curiosity, if you ever got to play them, what do you think about these racing games:
Snow tails
Mush! Mush! : snow tails 2
Long shot: the dice game
Ready set bet
Heat pedal to the metal
Rallyman GT
We’ve played Snow Tails, Long Shot: Dice Game, Ready Set Bet, and Heat since this video.
I would say first off, Ready Set bet is way more of a betting game than a racing game. Snow tails was super unique, haven’t played much else like it. Long Shot is very good and a much smaller footprint than the others. And Heat deserves all the hype it’s getting
@@FostertheMeeple Thanks for sharing your opinions on the games!
You two should check out Magical Athlete! Crazy fun.
Awesome we will! Thanks Ki
take a look at Snow Tails
Awesome! We will for sure!
Once out, I'd be curious where long shot ranks.
We are hoping to get a copy for sure!
How about a game like Scythe, where it’s really just a race to complete objectives. Did you not consider games like that as “racing”?
Nope! Just the actual “racing” mechanic. I think almost all games would fall under the “race for points” category!
Great list and fun format But it is Pitch Car by a hundred miles for me. But after that probably Flamme Rouge and Downforce. I like all the games on your list a lot except Camel Up, not sure why, it just doesn't work for me.
Ok for sure gonna try pitch car and flamme rouge! Camel up shocks me a bit but it can’t be loved by all! Haha Thanks for the ongoing support Jay!
Thoughts on Steampunk Rally
Haven’t played it! But I now really want to!
I think you wonderful folks would enjoy Chariot Race.
Ohh haven’t heard of this! Going to check into it! Thank you so much!
You know, some people consider Clank to be a racing game….
I’m not one of them, but there are people who do.
Yea I think I agree with you here ! Haha
My favorite game is Odin's Ravens, but I also really like Camel Up 👍
We really want to try this one out! Been mentioned to us a few times now
@@FostertheMeeple You should definitely try it if you get the chance, it's two player only, really fun to play and it takes under half an hour.
#1 Rallyman GT
Definitely one we want to check out!
No Thunder Alley? That's a good one.
Haven’t played it!
Flamme Rouge!
Definitely on the list to pick up!
I think it's better if most of the times what we see is the actual games instead, right?
Nice, I was thinking about doing something like this except for a top 100 haha.
Games like viticulture or root are kind of racing as well, just to a point threshold rather than a spacial element.
Yea, I mean if we are going to open that can of worms a lot of games would fall into a “racing” category haha
@@FostertheMeeple very true 😂
Saludos desde México
Bonjour du Canada!
Why is Jamaica pronounced like that??
East coast accents?!? I don’t know haha
Isn't Sheepy Time a racing game of sorts?
Racing adjacent I would say. You don’t necessarily win by being the first across the line, but you are definitely racing against the nightmares!
Why leave Formula D out of this rank?
This is only a list of games we’ve played, unfortunately we haven’t played Formula D yet!
I just don’t like Downforce. I try and try and try but no. Just no. Probably my least favorite racing game. Camel up is a far superior betting/racing game imo.
Hey that’s fair! Nothing is going to be a hit for everyone. Camel up is a fantastic game for sure!
Disney!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately covid has altered our Disney plans for this fall - but hopefully next year!
