  • For our society to move towards a more inclusive consciousness, diversity must be explored through thought and perspective, not by race or gender.
As a teenager, Vidya Spandana cofounded DMV.org, turning it into a multi-million dollar business by the time she earned her computer science and engineering degree. After extended emotional trauma and burnout, Vidya woke up one day and left her life and success behind. She spent three years traveling, studying the science of non-duality, teaching yoga, surfing, and making art. Vidya has since spent 15 years advising startups on strategic growth. In 2013, she became a Presidential Innovation Fellow working to bring President Obama’s Executive Order on Open Data to life, and working with federal agencies to prove how open data could drive economic growth in the world’s poorest countries.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

"Diversity of hues, form and shape enricheth and adorneth the garden, and heighteneth the effect thereof. In like manner, when divers shades of thought, temperament and character, are brought together under the power and influence of one central agency, the beauty and glory of human perfection will be revealed." ~ Baha'i Thought

Is that a typo? Does it mean immortality instead of immorality? Honest question.

Wow, that's quite a typo in the slide.

What she's really trying to say is diversity of thought is okay unless you're a white Republican Male that owns a business, or if you're in the top 1% then you're too "powerful" to have any say in the current political climate.

What's she's saying is many don't have the luxury of their own independent thought, whether through oppression by a small group, or via the fact that in our society the .1% distributes thought to the rest of us. In that our thoughts are highly influenced by where we go, what we buy what we do, and most of that is owned(controlled) by a tiny tiny group.

@@MtHoodMagic In that she's right. I just hope she herself doesn't believe in the corrects thoughts we're supposed to believe in that were sent from the top down. I find it odd though, for rich white men to support companies that send out the message that straight white rich men are the cause of everyone's problems. In my opinion, rich and powerful people's of al backgrounds involved in politics and corporations as a whole do cause many problems for us all, but not every issue is their fault.

Born in a country, the only country which treats Women with respect and calls it mother land and not father land like developed nations... you are trying to paint an ugly picture...
