You didn't realize it but in this mission you learned how to play as Zerg. Look at the map at the end of the mission: Many small bases all over the map, multiple hatcheries to produce, Nydus canals to communicate your bases and Overlords spread out to watch all over the map what your enemies do. This is how to play with zerg, always try to do that, sometimes the game doesn't let you do it, but try. Don't forget this mistake: never spend your last minerals on troops if you don't have a new base to mine minerals from. A little tip that might be useful: Nydus canals are good for defending but they are also very good for attacking quickly, can you think of a way to use them for that purpose?
Hehe the drones moved around a big lava ravine. Thats what the canals are for.the nydus canals are like a subeway network connecting your bases. The drone massacre!
Congrats! Controlling multiple groups of units in different places at the same time is probably one of the most challenging things to do in RTS games. So even if the attacks aren't particularly hard hitting in any place, its insanely easy to just not be in position when you're focusing on so many different things at once. The terrifying thing that wiped out your guardian flock is a high templar. They don't have a conventional attack and are super frail, but they do have the ability psionic storm, which deals absurd aoe damage over a ridiculously long period of time. Spellcasters in this game are insanely hard to control, so in return spells are completely busted. One or two psi storms casted in the right place can and will wipe out entire armies.
Before she had her troops abit spread out more to catch the dark templar and not being sure what the routes were. Air units have more of a tendency to clumb up in bunch where they all get caught in a psistorm. One psistorm can do over 1000 damage if you ad it all up. I am sure she will have fun with high templar in the later protoss missions.
Congratulations on a well-earned win! 🎉 It's amazing to see how much you've grown not only from your previous attempt, but since you started playing as well. Failure makes us stronger!
Ah the big ball of energy. The protoss mostrousity. 350 shields. Hitpoints only 10. But the 350 shieldpoints are the problem. 39 damage with splash. It is not fast. I hope you used hydras. Because this thing eats mutas for breakfast. It can take an ultra one on one.
22:45 Dont know if it is by design or not. Your mutas were drawn to the fight with the scouts. Like the scouts created a diversion attack (or mere coincidence.) The few zerglings could not hold the templar. A dark templar has a 40 damage attack and a zergling has 35 hitpoints. Zerglings have no chance vs a dark templar without the overlord. You need 5 or 6 zerglings anyway to win a fight and the dark templar will kill 4 or 5 of them. Leaving you with 1 or 2 left.
You played this mission very well, especially compared to your first attempt. Your unit control was good, you split your units across all 3 beacons to make sure they were all defended, you prioritised building units early as you needed them rather than trying to advance all the way to mutalisks, and you kept growing your economy and upgrading your technology at a sensible rate. You did make some mistakes, of course, but your overall gameplay was a lot better than it's been in previous missions. I think you're getting the hang of Starcraft! The high templar's lightning ability that killed all your guardians is "psionic storm". Infested Kerrigan also has the psionic storm ability, so you could try using it yourself if you want. It damages all units in an area at a very fast rate, and is especially strong against units that tend to clump close together, such as marines, zerglings, mutalisks, and guardians. With fast units like mutalisks, you can move them out of the storm to reduce the damage taken, but you need fast reactions in order to do this. When your mutalisks got psionic stormed a few minutes later, the reason why you didn't lose them was because they were all at full health when the storm started - most of them only had 8HP left (mutalisks have 120HP, and psionic storm deals up to 112 damage against units that remain in the storm for its entire duration) but survived, while when your guardians were hit earlier, they were all at less than 112HP because they had already been damaged by other units, so they were all destroyed by the storm.
The hatchery at 1:10:00 was destroyed by a dark templar. That sound was its attack. And it got killed when the overlord arived. Congrats. You beat the mission! The high templars do 116 damage with their lightning attack. Mutas have 120 hp. Guardians 150 hp. High templars run out of mana then they run.
Over thousand damage by 2-3 storms lol. Had to put speed back to 1.0x to see your reaction. Glad you make air/ground upgrades a priority.. Scout have highest air-to-air damage, so sending mutas against them is not recommended. Mutas best against Reavers (snails). Hydras best against Scouts (close to worst air-to ground damage in the game)
GG & well played! We all struggled with certain missions first time, 'kid' me was ready to give up on life after failing this 10 times or so, as far as I remember it was Guardians/Muta's that done it for me too in the end. I'm looking forward to the next 2 games, Man they are difficult, but that's because I try to wipe out the entire map (mission 9) ,really hard -- but you don't have to do that, just mine some shit with a drone and bring it back to a beacon at your base, it's still hard though. Good luck have fun! :)
I like the air approach, much better against those reavers. I beat this mission with a combination of zerglings, ultras, gotta be careful and split zergling groups when attacking reavers, if they are bunched up one scarab can kill maybe 9 zerglings haha. and a few control groups of scourges for the scouts.
The next mission, is probably going to be the hardest in the entire game. Perhaps Protoss mission 9 can get close to it. You, as the Swarm, will have to launch the assault upon the sacred Protoss homeworld of Aiur. The protoss will bring to bear everything they have. You must prepare for multiple Archons, and entire bases defended by star-ships and high-templar. The High Templar work as follows. The reason they keep running away from your army, is that they cant attack. They are by far the weakest Protoss unit in terms of Health or damage. However, that electric storm you ran into a few times. It happened at 1 hour 12 minutes and 44 seconds, you nearly lost your entire army of Mutalisks to a single High Templar. The electric lightning does 112 points of damage inside the area. It will automatically delete all Zerglings, Hydralist, almost all Mutalist. Only Ultralisk can survive it, and having Ultra's fight Archons is game-over. Its really unfair. However, you have acces to the most powerful strategy unit ever created. You can create Defilers.
"An archon!? No no-no-no-no no-no!" made my day. Definitely an appropriate reaction to those guys.
Those dudes are scary!

Yeah did much better this time around :)
Yay! Awesome! Keep going!
hooray! nice one. times like 1:13:00 when i feel i'm close i just A + Move all my forces to the enemy positions 🔥

Haha oops! I only wanted to send them a short distance - I didn’t realise they had to go the long way around! :D
Congratulations on beating this mission. We shall return more powerful. (Congrats man , I failed this on my 1st try aswell)

Ever considered a playthrough of Impossible Creatures? It's a strategy game from 2003 with a twist that you can design your own units.
Never heard of it but I’ll have a look :)

Scouts only do half damage against mutas though. It's not the worst match-up in the world, especially considering how expensive scouts are.

Has anyone explained to you how control groups work? They would've been really useful in this mission.

28:22 that is a psionic storm, a powerful special ability especially useful against Zerg or Terrans. Kerrigan also has this ability.
The Dark templar is my unit favorite of prootos
so the plague deals 300 damage said the tips
plague is not worth it against protoss anyway because it doesn't work on shields
I’ve forgotten who casts plague spell, anyway, lol :D
@@JN-hs5xl still fun to inflict plaguuuuu damage
