Man... I absolutely LOVE Elaine Joyce!!! Frickin' gorgeous!!!
What a sweetheart =Elaine Joyce
Really? She seems like a passive bitch to me! Lol.
@Conway Twitty Good one.
@Conway Twitty That's okay. My grandmother met you many, many years ago and she said you had quite an ego and that you were a very arrogant man. She's also dead now.
@Conway Twitty She met him once and she was revolted by him. In HER words "He was the cockiest bastard I've ever met in my life!"
Buzzr is airing Super Password with new episodes with Jo Anne Worley, Patrick Wayne, Richard Kline and Tom Poston from July and August 1985.
Betelgeuse is actually a star in the Orion constellation. I don’t know if that’s what he was actually going off of but it is and I would figure the Orion constellation is a more well know one.
Great episode. Thanks for the uploads!
That opening doe...
Great clues by Elaine in the $5000!!!
Wow the door malfunctioned!!
Game TV (it's a Canadian TV channel) still shows "Super Password" every day.
one of the rare times we heard the whole opening theme.
This game show was on NBC in Burbank.
Aired on NBC daytime Monday, January 14, 1985.
Having trouble with the doors, were they?
Tom Poston had to push the door open.
sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Sutton Kellan instablaster =)
@Derek Titus i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Derek Titus It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass !
Did she say “Beetle Juice”?
Betelguese
Tragic that Bert and Allen Ludden of Password both died young.
Maybe it's just me, but... contestant "Bob" reminds me a lot of the late Gene Rayburn.
I can definitely see it. They do kind of favor and even seem to have some similar mannerisms.
He sure does
Something that 'chocolate' seller SHOULD have done....brought samples.
Too late now!
But, she kicks it!
Popeye eats spinach, so he can punch Bluto's lights out.
Do you anything from Buzzer's Time Machine?
+Adam Curry BUZZR Time Machine is nothing more than a grab bag of stuff that airs elsewhere on the network schedule. It's a nice touch, having a different Saturday night schedule every week, but it's nothing new.
I wish they show Time Machine w/John Davidson on Buzzr, in fact, Buzzr should also bring back Reg Grundy's Hot Streak w/Bruce Forsyth and perhaps Scattergories w/the late TV Icon Dick Clark
Betelgeuse is a star? 4 years before a name change and a movie.
😊
Apparently the clues on SP have to be in English.
It's cheating otherwise.
As they should be.
It was a stupid rule, since they were valid on Plus and on classic Password. Lucille Ball was notorious for her Spanish clues (all those years with Desi paid off).
There was also a brief period on Super Password where the clues had to be “clean” too (again, in contrast to previous versions). Of course Vicki Lawrence pushed that envelope so much that rule eventually was reversed.
A contestant came back, because NBC make a mistake in the scoring?

Bettina did that, with one clue.
I think the door was stuck.
Chocolate could get Dennis Hall hyper.
Hard to get good help these days!(ha ha).
Chocolates could people hyper.
Something always seems to go wrong on this show.
Fast Cashword clue.
Outside of game shows, what did elaine joyce DO?
She was a fixture in musical theater: on both the Broadway and LA stages. She also had a successful nightclub act along with her (by then, late) husband Bobby Van.
I think she was in Diagnosis Murder I’m guessing on that one.
Bobby Van
That was not the only issue they had with that set. Very cheap.
Bettina won $5,000.
Macho?!

It took almost three and a half minutes before the contestants even began to play the first game in this episode of "SuperPassword,. And only three games were played total. This version moved much too slowly. Give me the original version with Allen Ludden anytime. If "Dimples" Convy spent last time yakking and more time getting on with the game, perhaps more actual game-play would have happened in "SuperPassword."
It is also evident the contestants were less intelligent in this version of the game than the original "Password," perhaps because the playing pool of regular contestants was drawn largely from the New York area in the original version instead of natives of Los Angeles or tourists visiting Hollywood. But I am also guessing the contestants' screening process was stricter in original "Password" than for "SuperPassword."
Of course "Jeopardy!" is also produced from Hollywood. But the screening process of that game show is probably the most strict (with the possible exception of "General Electric College Bowl") of any ever played. And "Jeopardy!" contestants are definitely drawn from around the country, and first tested in regional game-play.
As bad as "SuperPassword" was, it was in the last version, "Millionaire Password," (hosted by Regis Philbin) where the game was really dumbed-down. It seems each generation of contestants for "Password" has become stupider. Not necessarily a reflection on Philbin, or on Bert Convy (although with him?) and Tom Kennedy, but perhaps the fact Allen Ludden had been a school teacher also had something to do with the original "Password" having seemed to least insult a viewer's intelligence.
And before "Password" Ludden had also hosted the aforementioned "G. E. College Bowl," a highly competitive game between teams from various colleges and universities around the United States. Sometimes "College Bowl" made even "Jeopardy!" seem like "The Gong Show" (or whatever would be the dumbest television game show ever produced).
Wow, so critical. It's a game show. Lighten up. And they couldn't keep Ludden on the show BECAUSE HE DIED.
Wow...Super Password is an updated version of Password Plus (that Allen Ludden hosted until his untimely passing in 1980.
The banter is half the fun of games show, thanks for the essay though on why "game shows can't be fun"
Eh, stop bitching
I agree with you though. Perhaps a game show, yes, but convey could never stop talking.
