I used to trust Western media without a blink of the eye. Now I listen to the news with an open mind and fact check with other news source such as RT and CGTN.
When I realized that they used Nepalese police photos to impersonate the local police in Lhasa, from then on, I lost all trust in their reports on China.

When I was still a teenager I constantly received informations from CNN/BBC/Times etc. Yet after spending 1 year studying abroad I came to see how the western media lying about my hometown, so basically I just read their articles as political jokes when they turn to write about China😂
Great video and I totally agree: foreign journalists working in China should at the very least speak conversationally fluent Mandarin. It doesn’t seem to be the case in most instances, which has always baffled me. I was in Zhengzhou and Xinxiang reporting the floods, and after the whole BBC and Mathias thing went down I was approached by many locals while doing my work, and a short conversation was usually more than enough to allay their fears. Sending non-Mandarin speaking reporters to China is nothing short of insulting.

By simply standing there and not communicating with the Chinese, he was igniting more confusion, mistrust and anger from the Chinese. He was hoping to see some over-the-top behaviour that he could spin in his story.

As a Chinese who lives in Vancouver, Canada, it is amazing to see the number of comments and the unbiased video content! Thank you, OP. And sadly, the news industry, while being able to expose facts to a certain extent, is still just an upper-class tool for controlling. Whether that is in China, controlled by CCP, which is worse, or in the western world, especially the US who sees China as the biggest threat which is slightly better. It is simply more time consuming to get the facts nowadays especially if it is about the US or China. But the good thing is at least you get the news if you are outside China mainland, that does prove that freedom, or First Amendment is working somewhat. That however does not mean having the same thing is the best for China where average citizens wouldn't know the nation's true direction. Friend, I totally agree with you. The major culprit for me is BBC, NYT, and FT, and Economists. Why? I am a Singaporean, born and bred here since 1960s. And whenever I these specific media reporting on Singapore, I cannot but get angry at how they twisted the truth. I have so much better knowledge of Singapore and so can easily compare what I read with what they report. These media just make me disgusted - since 1990s.

And sadly, the news industry, while being able to expose facts to a certain extent, is still just an upper-class tool for controlling. Whether that is in China, controlled by CCP, which is worse, or in the western world, especially the US who sees China as the biggest threat which is slightly better.
It is simply more time consuming to get the facts nowadays especially if it is about the US or China. But the good thing is at least you get the news if you are outside China mainland, that does prove that freedom, or First Amendment is working somewhat. That however does not mean having the same thing is the best for China where average citizens wouldn't know the nation's true direction.
This hate between nations are really slowing humanity down and all I am hoping for is more Elon Musks.

Friend, I totally agree with you. The major culprit for me is BBC, NYT, and FT, and Economists. Why? I am a Singaporean, born and bred here since 1960s. And whenever I these specific media reporting on Singapore, I cannot but get angry at how they twisted the truth. I have so much better knowledge of Singapore and so can easily compare what I read with what they report. These media just make me disgusted - since 1990s.
