    I NEED an Altra shoe with drop so I can work all day… they are SOOOOO comfortable on my feet but I can’t do the zero-drop🥺 i’ve been buying other shoes and now I may end up buying these all the time if they work out! I know I’m not alone😅

      A good choice although on the firmer side which for standing all day I think is better than softer. Also look at Topo Athletic, many with 5mm drop and at least as good a fit toe box room

    looks like a hoka rincon and no ego foam! music to my ears! Looks like I'm going to give this one a whirl. The elephant in the room will be the duraibilty.

    Ah altra Clifton woww wowow! This is Wild. 4mm sounds really nice I don’t know a lot of shoes at 4mm anymore, Saucony use to. I would love to see an escalate at 4mm would pay some serious money for that.
    Seems like this is more on pair with the zoom fly series or concept rather then a Clifton I guess the wider toe box and firmer midsole

      More like a Mach in feel and use but also similar if firmer more uptempo in feel than a Clifton.

    A regular Altra shoe, with 20-30 mm heel cushion might actually be a minus drop shoe. Heel sinks more than forefoot, and creates calf and achilles overstretch, that affects plantar fascia damage, and intrinsic muscles\tendons alignment and movement.
    My transition was: Saucony freedoms (1-2-3) -> numb toes -> Xero HFS -> damage from using minimal cushion on hard surfaces, and changing my walking pattern -> escalante 2.5 -> unbearable PF soreness -> Lone Peak 6 -> better (more rigid sole) -> Paradigm 6 (Best so far, but still with room for improvement)
    So a 2-4mm drop Altra could be a good thing.

    Sounds like a terrible idea. Brian Beckstead, co-founder of the Altra Running brand coined the term. "When Altra coined the term 'zero drop' it was never about minimalism, it was about getting your foot into natural and stable positions…SOOO much for that

    That foam is so basic for them. It doesn’t make sense to me for a shoe that has been a long time coming. I do get that the price would be higher if they used a more advanced midsole, though. I’m sure this shoe will evolve.

    What's the stability level for a neutral shoe?

    • @RoadTrailRun

      Very good as on the firmer side and broad platform

    • @RoadTrailRun
      @RoadTrailRun  Год назад

      But lack of gusset and narrow tongue might be an issue higher up for some

      After finishing their review, sounds like you guys felt like if it was really wide and I have an hour ft. So it may not be an option?

    Which is better, this or Topo Phantom 3?

    • @RoadTrailRun
      @RoadTrailRun  Год назад +2

      Actually I would suggest if you want more max cushion less uptempo feel upcoming Topo Atmos. Review here: www.roadtrailrun.com/2023/09/topo-athletic-atmos-multi-tester-review.html

      Yes I saw that one. It’s tempting though I think I’ll try this one out. I’m a fan of the latest Torin and Provision from Altra. Also the escalante racer. The vanish tempo is a little too bouncy but I use it to strengthen my ankles.

    Altra has been a disappointed lately. They stopped selling shoes for kids and now they have a complete crisis identity

      Yes it is. I did note it required some stretching and packing from 1st runs. For sure if you have a narrower lower volume foot do not size up

      @RoadTrailRun  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes for me it was with narrower to medium feet. Initially I thought it was short but it stretched out after a few runs. Very narrow low volume feet may struggle a bit with the width and tongue rotation. . See also our full written review here: www.roadtrailrun.com/2023/09/altra-fwd-experience-altra-rises-above.html
