@@jscottupton Driving is by no means low risk nor a necessity. Climbing is a sport, not a leisure activity. Yeah it's dangerous as fuck but that doesn't mean you can't have sympathy.
Why have sympathy for everyone who engages in dangerous activities then pays the price? Hyman Roth in Godfather II said it best when he was telling Michael Corleone that’s the life we have chosen, and paying the consequences (dying) is just part of the deal.
In the end, I think they all know that this is how they will die. One base jump teacher once said, each climber has two jars, an experience jar and a luck jar. Prairiedoggen ironic coming from you.
@Prairiedoggen so have you been rock climbing then? Do you know what it entails? Do you know what to look out for and what could cause problems? Because I do. Driving is significantly more dangerous than climbing. Accidents happen just like when driving. Idiots attempt stupid things in both climbing and driving. Calling an entire activity moronic, dumb, or stupid without understanding what goes into it is ignorant.
@Prairiedoggen and yet you keep verbally abusing people on the internet and have resorted to name calling. You say you do all these things and yet shame anybody who do them. I am honestly lost on what point you are trying to convey. Any activity is dangerous, and assuming you do in fact participate in the activities you claim to do, you should know that. The man in the video died repelling, not free soloing. He was not doing anything stupid or dangerous. It was an accident, and yet people like you claim that it was wreakless. People die all the time doing the activities you claim to do. Are they wreakless too? There is dumb in every field, sport, and activity. For crying out loud, people have died playing football, soccor and baseball. And yet they aren't called wreakless. I am done with this conversation as you don't seem to be getting the point and taking everything as a personal attack. True I don't know you, but you don't know me or the man in the video. I was new to climbing 2/3 the way up I got stuck, decided to climb back down and discovered that that was harder than UP! Calmed my shaking legs and finished to the top. Learned valuable lessons, A. I would never free climb again, and B. I loved climbing but would always climb with protection. learned how to safely climb, mentored by a very experienced climber. Climbed for 20 yrs. loved it.
It isn't.
I have zero sympathy. You wanna play with the devil, accept the results.
Play with the devil??🤣🤣🤣🤣 He was living!! Devil has nothing to do with this..

Not only the death is hurtful, but the visual had to be gruesome...😓😓😓
I know right. Falling 1000 feet the body probably just turned to mush after hitting the ground. I hope he didn't feel anything.
Imagine being so jaded that you click on a video about someone dying chasing their passion and having to comment about how he deserved it. Shame.
it's akin to playing Russian roulette. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
@@lolekbolek916 do some research about free soloing. It is far from playing russian roulette. There are often many precautions taken. Not to mention, he died in a rappelling accident, not while free soloing you fucking vapid twat.
@@lolekbolek916 And there he is... the most interesting man in the world...
@@lolekbolek916 millions are hurt or killed in car accidents every year. But like you said, play stupid game right? Means you must not drive too right?
Thousands choke on food and die. So you don't eat either, right?
How about ladders, those things a deadly! Don't go on those, or stairs. Too many people die falling down stair. How about swimming? Can't risk drowning. No alcohol, because of alcohol poisoning. No keeping pets, because they 'might' turn. No going outside when it's cold, because ice is slippery. No planes, trains, or buses. No homes with gas, might as well cut electricity too, can't risk a fire. Even heard that hundreds of people die because they got caught in their sheets!
It's almost as if life itself is dangerous! What a thought. People are more likely to die doing any of these than climbers have of dying on the mountain. These instances are on the news because they are rare.
@@_Mute_ He may not have balls, but he's got memes and catch phrases (other people's, of course.).
You can enjoy mountains and climbing without having a death wish. This guy was toying with death and found it. He was reckless and stupid.
It kind of blows my mind there are as many people doing this as there are.
No! I'm Here To Warn You ! he was on a rope and repelling. This kind of accident is more in line with a car crash than anything else. He wasn’t putting himself in any kind of ridiculous danger, he was doing something fairly routine that happened to go wrong. People who aren’t in the climbing community don’t seem to understand that while there are risks, they are significantly less than people like to make out.
Because it’s fun
I rather smoke a rock ,then climb a rock

damn I thought this was that lanky guy that I've seen some stuff on.
hulivar he’s next
Its the mexicans fault
Im Trash Y
I don't blame him at all, he lived his life to the fullest, he was passionated about this and for sure knew that this could happen someday. RIP mate, you were awesome
Yeah but why did they have to say American in the title? Just say climber ffs
Alcala Money I know that, but couldn't have they said he was American in the video? Why did they put it in the title too
Bro people should realise that not everyone's Alex Honnold.
U dont even need to do a mistake to die out there everyone can die there. A rock could give in and fall off or a heavy wind can knock u off
Stop
He wasn't soloing when this happened
Our addictions will destroy us, if we don’t learn to quit while we still have time.
Yeah tell that to my mother, alcoholism is a slow suicide.
It's very brave to climb with equipment. Why take a chance on losing your life? Not brave....stupid
How awful. My condolences to his family and friends. ❤🙏😢
Lunalovania would you say that about someone that swims with great white sharks and got eaten? Hopefully this fruit loop didn’t reproduce.
I tAke enough risks while driving in traffic every day
They all have the stare
There’s a price to pay for the chance you take. To me climbing is pointless, certainly not worth dying for.
I am in shock .My son did his first ever comp at Hanger 18 in Upland , Ca with Brad . Brad was a delight and his mom and dad were so helpful and gracious to us when we knew almost nothing about comps or climbing. I am so deeply sorry . And I am so very deeply grieved for his father and mother and the pain and loss they feel and must endure. Truly heart breaking . R. Mills
Basic probability theory. Small chance of death for each dangerous climb, multiplied by many many dangerous climbs, what do you get? High chance of death. Play with fire often enough, and you'll get burned at some point.
He died chasing his passion.
Not as sad as people think.
RIP
Thrill Seeker
No it is sad because his family will never see him ever again. This was one life that he had and he's unfortunately dead now. He's gone forever.
@@TheCamper-zu3sk he spent it well and spread a lot of joy. rip

(Luke 13:1-5) "There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilæans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. {2} And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilæans were sinners above all the Galilæans, because they suffered such things? {3} I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. {4} Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? {5} I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
He died doing his passion
@M L so will we
I have mixed feelings on this, after I nearly died on a treadmill last week from Rhabdomyolysis. I think I’d rather die fit and doing stuff than old and having wasted my life being afraid. But in that moment when you realize “shit, I may die now” it is certainly a moment of clarity.
@M L jeez relax man... we get it your dark, alone and most likely have a miserable life😒... I'm pretty sure everyone already knows death is inevitable, so unlike you they make the most out of it; even if it means dying while doing the things they love.
Patrick Chole okay then go harder on the treadmill next time pussy. If you’re a man of your word.
The pucker factor would be so great that you couldn't drive a tenpenny nail up their rear end with a sledgehammer. Sheer terror to an unimaginable degree.
Jesus just imagine those last few seconds of him in free fall knowing he is about to fall so hard his limbs are gonna explode out of their sockets and his brain willl be crushed 😰
That is totally insane that anybody would consider a sport climbing straight up a cliff. The word Mountain climbing is not true they are more Cliff Climbing than Mountain Climbing. Those climbers have my total respect Why? Because I would never climb a straight cliff.
Wow. I've been watching videos about these guys all week , it's almost like I know these guys. Alex Honnold is a class act. My condolences to Brad's family and friends.
This is like saying an acrobat pilot died in a tragic unexpected accident.
I think you mean aerobatic
I've done some control indoor climbing in seattle with gear on 5.11d & 5.12A there comes a point and time during the climbs when the body gets fatigued & legs begin to quiver fingers begin to cramp then you start to look, search, feel for comfort & relief holding on with all your might and strength until you can't hold on any longer then it happens. Your body quits on you: you fall to the mat the whole way down thanking god or whom or whatever you believe in that you're glad you have your harness on. Now imagine free climbing in an uncontrolled outdoor environment. "YOU DON'T STAND A CHANCE". So why chance it?
Could have placed a bucket of water to stop fall damage
Imagine free falling for 1,000 feet to your death
No. I’d rather make smart ass comments on RUclips from my safe/comfy chair with a bag of chips!
He wasn't killed, that's basically suicide. At least he was doing what he loved
It's not suicide, jesus, when will you people understand the difference between suicide? He fell off, it's not suicide, suicide is where you physically hurt yourself ON PUPROSE.
That fact that you are comparing his death to suicide is making me sick.
