There's a lot of strange accent issues in VG. Half the Dalish have different accents from each other- and I don't mean just regional differences, but different nationalities.
Neve's VA performance takes me out of the game many times even though I like and romance the character... I'm wondering if other language like French performance have the same problem?

I play with the original voices (same for movies, I always watch it in the original language with subs) because french dubs are from a very different school of thought. It tends to be very focused on cliché voices focused on giving trope pointers regarding the overarching nature of the character, rather than being unique to the character, if that makes sense? It also tends to be very flat as a result

And where is German and French Voice actors list? Ur english ones where anounced one month or more before Release. Even after release Theres no list for FR/D. Even when u hear the voices in this languages u cant identify typical fame voice actors on urself while playing.
“Some other better option” makes me cringe and no, it’s not Solas’s VA’s fault. He’s quite nuanced and realistic in his delivery. One of the better actors. It’s 100% the writers who can’t be concise or natural with their wording. “Some better option”, or “some other option” or “I had no other alternative”. Instead we got some clunky ass word salad. And don’t get me started on three different NPC’s saying the exact same thing “magical elven artifacts waking up” all within five minutes of each other.
That line stood out to me when I heard it but to me it seemed like the pacing and emphasis that was the issue. The subtitles have it as "Some other, better option" with a comma, which implies that he first wants to say "Some other option", but then stops to clarify that the option should be not just different, but better. A pause after "other" and more emphasis on "better" would make it sound completely natural imo
This line in the trailer made me go "eek." But I'm glad solas' dialogue got a lot better after that. He's my fave. In general, I think the writing got better after the first few missions. In the beginning it's particularly jarring

Imagine being a voice actor on this turd. I love the Varric character, and they utterly destroyed him. The writing was middle school kid level at best. They completely stripped out any RPG elements. It's just an action game masked as an RPG. If that's not bad enough, you get lectured about how you should physically punish yourself for misgendering someone. Leave the identity politics out of fantasy RPGs, please. They're an escape from reality. My wife couldn't even make a feminine female. They all looked like muscled up lesbians. Just horrible. These voice actors did an amazing job. They're professionals. Unfortunately, the employees of BioWare are not.

Not being able to create a feminine character is a skill issue. I know the presets aren't very feminine but there is plenty of examples online of people making cutesy characters even, so look online if you need a bit of help/inspiration
