I think the days of huge jumps from generation to generation are basically over. I remember playing Mario 64 at a store kiosk for the first time in 1996 and being blown away. A few years later, people who didn't even play video games were raving about how Madden 2001 looked so great on the brand new PS2. It's not a big deal, but games look so great now there's really nowhere to go but for minor changes. It was bound to happen.
We did get a noticable jump from 7th gen to 8th gen. 8th to 9th is just lighting, HDR, 4k and faster loading speeds because of SSD. Which to me is fine. Loading speeds on 9th gen have been cut by about half.
The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the menus and loading times which may not sound like a big deal but when you’re playing NHL22 on the PS4 you actually start to get pissed off at how much lag there is when you’re navigating the interface, lol.
My favorite is pressing a D pad button, nothing happens, so you press it again and this time something happens so you hit X to confirm, but then you realize it took 6 hours for your first press to register and so now you’re in a different menu cuz the game thinks you meant to press X on the next thing. It’s super fun 😂
I’ll be honest the PS4 Version of the game looks like it has advanced lighting than PS5, what all PS5 is bringing is shadows n hardly any light into the players, arena etc. If you look at the IRL hockey lighting, the PS4 version its lighter than PS5. The PS5 version looks like NHL 14. While the PS4 version looks more cleaner
The shadows are a bit overdone for sure, but that’s not the only difference between the 4 and 5. The PS5 has better reflections as well as higher quality textures and more dynamic faces. If they toned down the shadows just a touch, the next gen version would be better than last gen by a fair bit. The PS4 version can look pretty muddy at times because of the inferior textures.
It’s not identical. Lighting is different, more details in some faces and higher quality textures on pretty much everything. It’s not a gigantic difference, but it’s de definitely different

The biggest difference I see is the ice looks more realistic. I don't think developers have tapped in to the full potential of PS5's power. The game I have noticed the most graphical difference on so far is MXGP 2021 and I consider that more of a budget title.

That’s normal. The Xbox One S runs the last gen version. This is a comparison between the next gen and last gen versions. The only thing the Xbox One S will do better than the Xbox One while running the last gen version is an increase in performance, but the graphics will be the same.
Not much different to me. Just like these phones they claim are better. Truth is from here on out you can’t get much better than what graphics are now. Unless, they make it look so real it looks like real life. Any complaining about how graphics are now is just nitpicking.
There are plenty of areas they can improve on. Facial animations, lighting as a whole, equipment rendering, dynamic effects… graphics get a fair bit better than this, but there’s no denying that none of these games look bad anymore, that’s for sure.
I think the graphics is far better in this game than last games. I also think its a bit cleaner on nxt gen I think u notice more when u play then in youtube videos because it usually takes a bit of the resolution off. To me its more with the ice, arenas and faces. I would still like them to scan more faces like if ur a player who's played 150+ games u should get a game face and the 1st round draft prospects & top end future picks like Shane Wright, Connor Bedard.
Sounds like it's a server issue which we all knew was going to be a problem because of Next Gen being on different servers. This is about graphics which is different thing entirely and I play a lot of offline, Franchise, BAP, offline for me was always terrible due to living in europe & although I've only played the EA 10hr trial on PS4 (i have bought it for xbox nxt gen as I couldn't get a PS5 but not played yet due to work) I do think is 1 of the best sports games the AL seems far better and Graphics do improve the whole experience.

it really depends which game. If you look at GTA 6 or Last of Us 1 remastered, you can really see the difference.

Looks identical too me. Only difference I really see is the ice looks clearer or shinier. But other than that.. nothing
There’s a fair amount of differences in lighting and texture quality as well
