Well done ln passing. I passed last december but on my 3rd month of driving. It is daunting but Just think of it as Within 6hrs after u put ure card in make sure u have 15min break. If ure 4.5 hrs comes before 6 hrs working time have 45min break or do 15 then 30min. Then u reset ure driving hrs. If u want to extend driving by an hour have a furthur 30min break. (Can only do this twice a week) hope this makes sense. Good luck with ure career and safe driving
Hi Gaz, I passed my Class 2 back jn January and been working casually over and above my main job. Love driving the lorry but not sure if the tipper work is for me. Totally understand how easy it is to make mistakes with WTD and driving hours. I always find myself cutting it a little neat but so far I've avoided any infringements. Good luck with Class 1.
im the same with the working time i allways thort it was just the driving time etc etc on the tacho dident realises it was also the working time directive its can get really confusing and hard to work a brake into that particullair time especially if you are like me and drive long distantce then a large amount of manual handling at the other end with off loaders who are on job and knock its really really hard top get those brakes in without letting every one down
I'm a new driver but apparently I'm too slow for the company which is a shame cause I liked the job. I'm supposed to do 3 drops but I only ever manage to get 2. It takes me an hour to unload compared to half hour for other drivers. Today, I stupidly followed my sat nav when it said a road was closed. It took me all around different country lanes. The job was supposed to be a 45 minute drive... Didn't happen. I left at 12 and came back at 6. It took ages to park it, ages to unload it. I thought "fuck this" and took a break on the roadside which they weren't happy about but I was just so frustrated. It's night shifts as well so easier than days. I'm kinda disappointed that they want me to use cruise control all the time too... I like having control of the vehicle. Anyway, I'm really down about it. It's a shame cause I really wanted this. There's things I don't understand as well like the retarder and all that... I read about it but never really understood. Anyway, whatevs, I'm going back tonight but if it keeps going I'm sure they won't keep me long
I get infringements quite often. But from now on I'll be pulling over after 5.5 hours to get my WTD break in. If I stop for 45 it'll reset my drive time no matter what it's on. I do not usually do more than 5 hours of daily driving with the company I am with, so if I stick to this 5.5 hour rule I'll reduce those types of infringements. The other one is overspeed. There is a spot on the M5 South which catches me out every time. I don't realise until the truck is bouncing all over the shop. The decline is so gradual but the wagon picks up speed very quickly. Some wagons won't allow me to go 60 or above, but others will go 100 without warning and bounce me out of the window. I think the tacho rules are bollox. I think car drivers need a retest every monday morning
Hi mate I passed the 26th April myself, I thought the tacho (some tachos) put the truck in rest mode when it comes to a stop? Luke c did a vid years ago and his old truck used to just change itself after a minute of standstill. I’m over paranoid about the tacho lol
Hi mate. It doesn't go into rest mode it will go into other work. You have to physically put it on break and it will automatically change to driving once you move off from your break
Good to hear things going ok you need that 6 months min exp before u do u class one it helps when u do u test I just doing class 2 shunting work at the moment dead easy ....
Class 2 won’t really help with class 1. I was on training with a guy who has had his class 2 7 years and was worse then me at driving and I’ve never driven a lgv or Hgv
Any tips for a new pass? I passed Friday just gone, just gotta get my licence back and then do my CPC Mod 4 and I'm sorted (already got drivers card) Any advice on what to do or where to go? Any advice on who or what to avoid?
Hi Pete it all depends what you want to do. Try to find a reputable agency, or a few. Sign up with them all and let them know when you're available. Then just crack on. Try different things with the agency and see what you like then look for companies offering full time in that area. Nights are ok for the pay if you want more. Keep up to date with your tacho rules and try to avoid infringements
@@gazthemanc3835 I work back door at a supermarket so I talk to a lot of bread, milk and RDC Class 1 drivers and they all look good but I'm worried I'm seeing it through rose-tinted glasses and it'll be shit if I actually get a job there 🤣
Hello, newly passed Class 2 driver here too! the tacho rules also seems daunting as a new driver!

How did you get on mate? Try and keep your head up: it’s hard for everyone in the early stages - it does get easier 👍🏻

set the cruise control
@@justinbieberlake5635 I think you mean 'limiter', not all cruise controls stop the wagon from going above 60
It’s 4.5hours before break no wonder your always got infringements
@@billionone4100 typo, but will leave it as is
@@billionone4100 WTD is 6 hrs that's different from EU drivers hours regulations. Two different things
You do not do a manual entry?
Passed my cpc & theory, practical is in 2 weeks!! Was it hard getting a job ?
Did you go through agency . What agency you with. Good luck
I have my class 2 off road reverse test today and main one tomorrow, I hate tests thought makes me want to vomit!
Good luck. The reverse is dead easy. You will do a few practice runs and the test will come naturally

I did mate. It's all CGI now. Good luck with your test mate

Yes you can pal. I only found this out a couple of days later. I do print outs all the time now
