Maybe TOT could get really creative with that plumb Bobby thingamajig and cobble together something out of that oak tree stump? Kangaroos and scrap oak pieces....I can clearly picture a foggy kind of haze that could easily congeal into a mega shop that could house those two internet machining giants..... just so long as one of them kept busy outside. Anyway, I am well pleased to see that the two Titans of RUclips can coexist even though one of em might have to make room for the other one. Two legends trying to occupy the same space at the same time..... interesting, to say the least. Both of you big guys need to stay on your collective toes, though because there's a Gotteswinter coming to the corral any minute now. Had to come back re-watch mainly the 3 jaw chuck mode. With the Brides passing, I found my self at another auction, and picked up a 4in 3 jaw with live bearing center. Now to modify the Morse tapper shaft to fit tail stock of the LeBlonde 17,,, Great that the tree didn't find a car or house to land on,,hehe! Bear

I have used my Rockwell horizontal / vertical mill as a lathe to do some large diameter work and it only has a 30 taper spindle. I made a similar adapter but it was for a faceplate. A gang style tool changer would work great on your CNC mill for your lathe CNC lathe mode. ❤

You probably won’t see this Tony, but while so many comments here are expressing their happiness that you’re back (a sentiment that I share), I just wanted to say that I’m glad that you did the sane thing by taking the time off. Sometimes us fans/followers can act like a bunch of baby birds, hanging around with our mouths gaping open, chirping to be fed. I know that a lot of creators feel quite a bit of pressure from it (not to mention The Algorithm), and it’s refreshing to see someone setting an example by prioritising what’s actually important. I hope that you’ll do the same in the future should you need to again. We’ll still be here.

Hey Tony, just a little hint, as I do a lot of reverse engineering on daily basis, there is a VERY simple way to do it if you have any vector 2D software where you can create a drawing (not 3D cad). This works for flat parts only, but still. You just take a good flat picture of your part along with ruler in the same part, then you import that photo into for example coreldraw or illustrator, scale it there based on ruler on a photo, and everything else is super simple, you just outline it with vectors :-) Hope this may help someone :) Cheers!
@@AdvancedGT good idea actually, I haven't had a scanner since 2000s probably though. I ensure flatness now by taking a photo on top of 1x1 mesh film. Also this way you can do any size, my parts for example surely will not fit into any scanner :)
They make the pendulum things pointy at one end so you can hammer them into the brown cellulose foam material that trees are mad of for windy days. Just thought I would mention it. Good to see you back at it

Hey ToT, the Midge welder is more properly called a Grandma (GMA) welder since MIG is an acronym for (M)etal (I)nert (G)as. And since most steel welding is with a mix of inert and active gases, Gas Metal Arc is more accurate. Happy one million. Glad I put you over the top. A tour of the garage would be OK, but just send me the money you promised and we're square.
Absolutely wonderful video. Five stars for your creative genius made so entertaining. Makes me want to go out into my shop and make the world a better place by doing something like taking the backlash out of some gears, or sharpening the chain on my old Stihl, just in case I need to trim some limbs.

Just out of curiosity, the whole I need a MIG welder to build decorative iron fencing is in no way related to the felling of that Oak tree in an unintended direction and the hypothetical wiping out of a prior existing fence that may or may not be in existence any more, right?
@@juststeve5542 believe it or not, I saw a guy nail a wrought iron fence once... of course instead of a hammer he used a Corollla, but it worked! He drove that fence right through the apartment complex he was aiming for. Bet he couldn't do it again no matter how much he sobered up.
Trying to make a state of the art automatic machine out of an analogue system. Reminds me of the day i made a steel lathe from a trestle and two opposing cordless drills tied down with ropes and used a grinder as the shaping tool with a fat grinding disc. It worked for one project. The stop end i think was a philips head in the chuck pushed into a hole in the end of the steel stock. I had to use my off hand on it to keep the prssure up while the driving cordless used something like a screw jamed in the grip to the correct length and had to find one. My kingdom for a cable tie and enough to waste like a single use. Not hard to believe id rather a real one now it would be a lot of fun. They are so big and heavy my only option may be to build my own better thought out and bolted off everywhere and a slide system bolted to big steel table clamps used for furniture construction. Looks like a kanga jack made from super light gauge rail road track. Pretty sturdy when my trestle is light weight aluminium.

You said in that that you couldn’t cut helixes… well, with the 4th axis on the Maho methinks you now could…. Though it’s probably still cheaper, quicker and easier to buy your drill bits! So glad you are back, and I hope that means that the worst of the difficulties that caused the long gap in your videos are now more distant memories.

Better yet. Put it in a scanner on your printer. Scale is given too and flat picture ensured

Good craftsmanship is all about materials, like 5th dimensional spin-3 stainless. Takes alot of "time" to get a good finish but its quality stuff.
Just remember a flared base is VERY important when designing those.

Just out of curiosity, the whole I need a MIG welder to build decorative iron fencing is in no way related to the felling of that Oak tree in an unintended direction and the hypothetical wiping out of a prior existing fence that may or may not be in existence any more, right?

@@juststeve5542 believe it or not, I saw a guy nail a wrought iron fence once... of course instead of a hammer he used a Corollla, but it worked! He drove that fence right through the apartment complex he was aiming for. Bet he couldn't do it again no matter how much he sobered up.

Trying to make a state of the art automatic machine out of an analogue system. Reminds me of the day i made a steel lathe from a trestle and two opposing cordless drills tied down with ropes and used a grinder as the shaping tool with a fat grinding disc. It worked for one project. The stop end i think was a philips head in the chuck pushed into a hole in the end of the steel stock. I had to use my off hand on it to keep the prssure up while the driving cordless used something like a screw jamed in the grip to the correct length and had to find one. My kingdom for a cable tie and enough to waste like a single use. Not hard to believe id rather a real one now it would be a lot of fun. They are so big and heavy my only option may be to build my own better thought out and bolted off everywhere and a slide system bolted to big steel table clamps used for furniture construction. Looks like a kanga jack made from super light gauge rail road track. Pretty sturdy when my trestle is light weight aluminium.
Oh TOT, how I've missed you. I started breathing funny and making weird noises when I saw it. Checking YT every day for a vid from you, and every day disappointed but today, over the moon, Christmas has come early.

So glad to have you back Tony! Earlier today I was watching one of your old films in which you explained drill sharpening by making a drill bit (well, the tip of one). You said in that that you couldn’t cut helixes… well, with the 4th axis on the Maho methinks you now could…. Though it’s probably still cheaper, quicker and easier to buy your drill bits!
So glad you are back, and I hope that means that the worst of the difficulties that caused the long gap in your videos are now more distant memories.
