- My favourite live version of my favourite Bad Seeds song - 'The Ship Song.' Taken from the bonus disc which accompanied the 1998 pressings of 'The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.' The track was recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 20 May, 1997. The studio version can be found on 1990's 'The Good Son' released via Mute Records.

Shadows. Dots of light from the mirror ball illuminating beaming faces. Synergy. Every time I hear this version of The Ship Song I am transported back to a party from the mid-nineties where I danced the foxtrot with a very handsome man. Just friends, but there was something special about this moment. 25 years later, I cannot hear this song without returning to that moment.

This is the version that my dad had on his computer. And he put it on my veryfirst mp3 player back when i was small. I didn't even hear the cd version until years later. I just thought this was such an amazing song. Thanks for giving me such amazing music to listen to dad!

Another Nick Cave video has been invaded by comment bots for some reason. Every second comment from accounts with no profile pics in the last few months includes the spelling mistake "I crie every time" and the butchered phrase "best version of a sound tingling song" so presumably the original commenter mistyped it then the bots harvested that repeatedly.
It really annoys me when some random commenter proclaims as if it's fact that a particular version of a classic song is by far the best, or some such bullshit. No great song has any one version or rendition which puts all others in the shade. The very concept is just ridiculous. Have they heard all versions ever recorded from every concert ever? Obviously not.

He also sings "grown sad now" here, not "fallen sad now'.
