This video was extremely helpful. I was able to quickly figure out why my brake lights were staying on and fixed it so it would work until I can go get the piece that I need because the stores are closed now. I am a female that needs to know these things. Thank you so much for this great detailed video. The videography was great too. I am subscribing.
Here's a helpful tip. Before you remove the old switch, take a pencil or marker and mark the spot against the round ring on both sides. Then remove the old switch and align it EXACTLY alongside the new switch. Then mark the new switch at the EXACT same spot where you marked the old switch. This way, both old and new switches have the EXACT markings. So when you install the new switch, you can use the markings to guide you as to where to lock it in place. I did this and got everything to work on the first try by using the markings on the new switch as a guide.
This made changing that switch very easy the shifter would not shift out of park and the brake lights would. not come on. I changed the switch, did the easy adjustment and it was a fantastic and easy job thanks to this video!
i just want to add the quick comment. this video helped me out a bunch and i was able to get my brake lights working again. what i did was took the switch apart which was very easy just the two clips on the sides and cleaned the contacts off on the switch because they were covered in carbon and wouldnt make a connection so my lights never came on. just cleaned them up with paper towel and alcohol and put it back in and it worked perfectly!!
This same switch (the other 2 contacts) are for the cruise control. One set of contacts can go bad or shift and the others work fine (brake lights can work like normal but you need to press the button much further in for the cruise to stay engaged). So sometimes you just have to replace the switch.. That's where I am. Great video to describe how the switch comes out and is adjusted.
This was such a helpful video. Fixed my problem on 2004 Honda civic. The little rubber stopper had completely worn away. Bought a new one for $10 at autozone and replaced it in less than 10 minutes! Thank you so much!!
I knew my grommet fell apart because it was laying on my floor mat and the brake lights stayed on. I found this before my battery died! I knew what was wrong. Same problem with multiple vehicles over the years. I used your video to remove the panels and gain access to the switch/grommet area without breaking anything👍 lol
I really appreciate your video. This was EXTREMELY Helpful and detailed. It just saved us a lot of time and money. Luckily I read the comments and noticed that my gromit had deteriorated off after I bought the new part 😂
Thank you for this video. Yep that showed me just what I was needing to know. My little plastic or rubber stop under the switch broke out and the break lights stay on. Thanks again.
i agree with Kei Lyn...This video was extremely helpful. I was able to quickly figure out why my brake lights were staying on and fixed it so it would work until I can go get the piece that I need because the stores are closed now. Thank you so much for this great detailed video. The videography was great too. I am subscribing.
This video confirmed another problem I have been having with my 2003 Accord 3.0L. My TCS warning triangle and TCS letters on my dash lights. It turns out that this switch for the brake lights can also cause this trouble light to come on, making one think the traction control system is misbehaving! FYI
Thanks for this video. I was searching the net to find out the wire functions on the switch and I came across ur video. Very helpful. So the red gets power from the fuse then sends to the black n white when brake pedal is depressed.
I didn’t watch this for the switch, i needed to get to the lil stopper behind it, because it broke! xD i had to pull the fuse out too (because I couldn’t work on it over night and didn’t want my battery dying again) thank you!
Great video. Thanks also for pointing out the right fuse location. That's all that was causing my issue. For some reason the fuse was in the #10 location (unused) when it was supposed to be in the #13 location (brake lights and horn). As soon as I switched the fuse to the right location in the fuse box, the problem was solved. Not sure how the fuse got in the wrong location, but happy it's fixed.
Thanks for this video .. Found out it was the broken clutch brake pedal pad.. I found the broken part first. Thought it was a point of a blue crayon lol
One day I found my 2004 Accord with a dead battery, and the grommet on the driver's floorboard. I took off the panels, reinstalled the grommet, and I'm good-to-go. Thanks!
You're the best, thank you for kind of video... you helped me a lot cause I just got this issue on my 2003 Honda Odyssey today 8/27/2022 .. thanks again
Very, very helpful... I picked up the switch at O'Riley for $8 and plan to install it over the weekend. My LED brake lights on my 2006 Accord are dim most of the time. Some say it's the switch. We'll see, I guess!
I had the left and right lights not work while the center light remained functional, no blown fuses/relays and the brake switch and bulbs were fine. I fixed the problem by disconnecting and re-connecting the plug towards the back of the trunk on the driver side close to where the wires split to go to the rear/middle light.
Great video! Thanks for posting. Question on the brake switch "fine tuning" ... If the switch is not replaced tight enough. Is it possible that the brake lights will work like they're supposed to... But the cruise control function could be impacted to not stay on (because it thinks the brakes are being applied)??
Very insightful video. I noticed some small plastic fragments on the driver's side floor board. Never made the connection between the brake pedal switch pad and my lights staying on. $5 and 10 minutes later my brake lights now turn off. Thanks!
They don`t sell the broken piece that press and seats against the brake switch at the part store, only the switch. I had found the both parts at the Honda Part dealer.
Great video! But I am having trouble with the very first step; when I remove the one screw at the bottom left of the front panel, the panel does not come cleanly off the way it does in the video. It is sticking very hard on the right side of the panel, and no amount of pulling will get it off! In fact , the cover is bending in one place to the point of breaking. Is it possible there is another screw holding it in? If so, I am damned if I can see it, let alone access it! Any ideas/suggestions?
Does the switch also affect the horn? On a 2001 prelude my fuse is fine but no brake lights or horn(that I didn’t even check until now and it went out too)
replaced the switch and the lights are still coming on. The plunger on old switch did not seem to be stuck as in other videos. Checked the 20amp fuse, it looked ok? Could not tell if TCS motor fuse was good or not? My meckanic says to clean battery terminals and the fender wall wire harness connection. Which i will do today. What else could be happening to keep the triangle ane 'TCS' coming up on dash?? any help? the pump module is around $1100, so i am hoping it could be just wheel sensors or something cheaper.
I have a question, I hope you see this. So my taillights won’t come on or my dash won’t light up when I turn my lights on. My high beams and headlights are good, and when I tap my brakes the brake lights light up. I’m so frustrated and can’t figure it out. My car is a 2000 Honda accord
Hi not sure if you will see this but I changed the break switch and my break lights still don’t come on I checked the horn fuse and it’s blown. I replace it and burn right away when I install it any suggestions
Question - if this part is faulty, can it lock my gear box in park? My shifter is locked in park even when i depress the brakes and I checked the fuse - nothing seems wrong. Would replacing this part be a viable solution?
Hey I am buying an used Honda account 2004 but it has tcs and break light on and the guy who selling it to me said that one of the Mechanic fried his computer by connecting the battery backwards and that’s the reason why the TCS in the brake light is on and said he forgot to clear it but I’m not sure if I change the brake switch and it would fix it so if you have any advice please let me know as soon as possible I’m gonna buy the car tomorrow
Will this fix a red “Brake” light on my dashboard as if my emergency brake is on ? My light came on after I abruptly slammed on brakes to avoid a dumb driver in front of me.
I love when people know exactly what they're doing. No bs, just straight to the point. Thank you!

Best video I've seen on this fix! Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Yep that showed me just what I was needing to know. My little plastic or rubber stop under the switch broke out and the break lights stay on. Thanks again.
Thanks! Simple straight forward right to subject no music or begging for subscribing etc. Hand Salute! 👍👏
Thank you for this video, I used your information to replace the switch today and it solved my intermittent brake light issue.

Thats tremendous! I am thrilled that you were able to fix your brake lights. Have a great year!
Just saved me a trip to the mechanic (04 Accord brake lights were out (ALL 3). Had the job done in 20 mins 👌🏾💪🏾

Yo tengo el mismo problema, se me prendio el tcs y el abs y el breaker tambien, alguien que me oriente
Thanks for this video. I was searching the net to find out the wire functions on the switch and I came across ur video. Very helpful. So the red gets power from the fuse then sends to the black n white when brake pedal is depressed.
Very clear info, instructions and video angles, helped me change the break light switch in my accord with ease. Thank you!
You are AWESOME!! The trick about the fuse was all I needed. You saved the day with that one. Thank you, thank you!! Toni and Cara ❤
this video showed me exactly what was needed and how to solve an issue on my accord euro ( Australian model). thank you.
Wowwwwwwww I'm so grateful for this bro. I would have just spent alot of money for something I can fix myself; and I just did😁. So grateful sir
I didn’t watch this for the switch, i needed to get to the lil stopper behind it, because it broke! xD i had to pull the fuse out too (because I couldn’t work on it over night and didn’t want my battery dying again) thank you!

I’m currently watching this video and holding that plastic piece in my hand as we speak. I’m glad it’s something simple as such.
Thanks!
I appreciate you!
Great camera view at it with a great explanation. Was able to fix the switch myself. 🥳 Thank you for the help.
Thanks for this video .. Found out it was the broken clutch brake pedal pad.. I found the broken part first. Thought it was a point of a blue crayon lol
🙇🏽 Looking under the dash next to the brake panel switch, I noticed a gray connector not connected to anything. Does it connect to somewhere?
Very helpful video. I would say the best and clearest instructions of all similar videos. Thank you.
Best how to video ever! Many Thanks! Made me a happy subscriber!

You are a very good teacher, straightforward and simple, good job my friend
Thank you!!! I needed this!!!!!
very good information and video. showed good detail on what to do and what to expect.
you mentioned putting a fuse in the switch if you had one what fuse would you have used???
..thank you.. this saves me a lot of time, and I don't have to struggle trying to read a crappy schematic or service manual, with my crappy eyesight 😆
Hey Thanks Man, Just the info i needed.
Very, very helpful...

Would this fix a taillight that doesn't turn off?
is that 20 fuse also control
the cruise ctrl?
Nice!
Thanks for the video.
Do you know if the white/black and red wires are the same on all Hondas ?
Would this switch cause the shifter to get stuck in park?
What are the other two wires for?
A great video. Thank you
Is it the same for 2004 accord
How do you change the pice the switch goes into?
Awesome video great help thank

You are the 🔝! Thank you
Hi i have a 2010 accord LX i jumped the switch and i can hear the relay pull somplace but still no lights. Any other suggestions?
Does the switch also affect the horn? On a 2001 prelude my fuse is fine but no brake lights or horn(that I didn’t even check until now and it went out too)
Great illustration
Doea this also effects cruise control? If yes then how. Please help
Thank you soooooo much for sharing this👍🏻👍🏻

Can this be a problem for a car not going into Park
I have a question, I hope you see this. So my taillights won’t come on or my dash won’t light up when I turn my lights on. My high beams and headlights are good, and when I tap my brakes the brake lights light up. I’m so frustrated and can’t figure it out. My car is a 2000 Honda accord
Thanks for saving some money the brake light kept draining my battery
Thank you for sharing this video. Very informative.
Your welcome!
Hi not sure if you will see this but I changed the break switch and my break lights still don’t come on I checked the horn fuse and it’s blown. I replace it and burn right away when I install it any suggestions
Do you know the name of the 3rd brake light blade fuse . I just got a ticket for that being out
Life saver. Thanks
What is this switch called? Don't know how to look up online, tried brake light switch but no
Question - if this part is faulty, can it lock my gear box in park? My shifter is locked in park even when i depress the brakes and I checked the fuse - nothing seems wrong. Would replacing this part be a viable solution?
What did u end up doing mine did the same thing?
Super helpful. Thanks a lot.
My brake lights won't come on at all, and I checked fuses and bulbs! Maybe this is what I need.
Super helpful, Thank you!!
I replaced the brake light switch and the brake lights still do not work, however, the third brake light does work. Any ideas?
Did you get this fixed? I am experiencing the same issue. Thanks
Thank you, very helpful Video.
lifesaver. Much thanks
What about the park lights ? Everything else works but the park lights and tag light

Encontraste respuesta a tu problema, yo tengo el mismo problema, tiene encendido el tcs y el abs y el breake
Will this fix a red “Brake” light on my dashboard as if my emergency brake is on ? My light came on after I abruptly slammed on brakes to avoid a dumb driver in front of me.
*2004 accord
Honda Accord 2006 model's left Tail light is not working and I checked the bulb it was not blown up. Please help me.
