This video was extremely helpful. I was able to quickly figure out why my brake lights were staying on and fixed it so it would work until I can go get the piece that I need because the stores are closed now. I am a female that needs to know these things. Thank you so much for this great detailed video. The videography was great too. I am subscribing.
Here's a helpful tip. Before you remove the old switch, take a pencil or marker and mark the spot against the round ring on both sides. Then remove the old switch and align it EXACTLY alongside the new switch. Then mark the new switch at the EXACT same spot where you marked the old switch. This way, both old and new switches have the EXACT markings. So when you install the new switch, you can use the markings to guide you as to where to lock it in place. I did this and got everything to work on the first try by using the markings on the new switch as a guide.
This made changing that switch very easy the shifter would not shift out of park and the brake lights would. not come on. I changed the switch, did the easy adjustment and it was a fantastic and easy job thanks to this video!
This same switch (the other 2 contacts) are for the cruise control. One set of contacts can go bad or shift and the others work fine (brake lights can work like normal but you need to press the button much further in for the cruise to stay engaged). So sometimes you just have to replace the switch.. That's where I am. Great video to describe how the switch comes out and is adjusted.
i just want to add the quick comment. this video helped me out a bunch and i was able to get my brake lights working again. what i did was took the switch apart which was very easy just the two clips on the sides and cleaned the contacts off on the switch because they were covered in carbon and wouldnt make a connection so my lights never came on. just cleaned them up with paper towel and alcohol and put it back in and it worked perfectly!!
I really appreciate your video. This was EXTREMELY Helpful and detailed. It just saved us a lot of time and money. Luckily I read the comments and noticed that my gromit had deteriorated off after I bought the new part 😂
Thank you for this video. Yep that showed me just what I was needing to know. My little plastic or rubber stop under the switch broke out and the break lights stay on. Thanks again.
I knew my grommet fell apart because it was laying on my floor mat and the brake lights stayed on. I found this before my battery died! I knew what was wrong. Same problem with multiple vehicles over the years. I used your video to remove the panels and gain access to the switch/grommet area without breaking anything👍 lol
This video confirmed another problem I have been having with my 2003 Accord 3.0L. My TCS warning triangle and TCS letters on my dash lights. It turns out that this switch for the brake lights can also cause this trouble light to come on, making one think the traction control system is misbehaving! FYI
i agree with Kei Lyn...This video was extremely helpful. I was able to quickly figure out why my brake lights were staying on and fixed it so it would work until I can go get the piece that I need because the stores are closed now. Thank you so much for this great detailed video. The videography was great too. I am subscribing.
Thanks for this video. I was searching the net to find out the wire functions on the switch and I came across ur video. Very helpful. So the red gets power from the fuse then sends to the black n white when brake pedal is depressed.
Great video. Thanks also for pointing out the right fuse location. That's all that was causing my issue. For some reason the fuse was in the #10 location (unused) when it was supposed to be in the #13 location (brake lights and horn). As soon as I switched the fuse to the right location in the fuse box, the problem was solved. Not sure how the fuse got in the wrong location, but happy it's fixed.
I didn’t watch this for the switch, i needed to get to the lil stopper behind it, because it broke! xD i had to pull the fuse out too (because I couldn’t work on it over night and didn’t want my battery dying again) thank you!
Thanks for this video .. Found out it was the broken clutch brake pedal pad.. I found the broken part first. Thought it was a point of a blue crayon lol
You're the best, thank you for kind of video... you helped me a lot cause I just got this issue on my 2003 Honda Odyssey today 8/27/2022 .. thanks again
One day I found my 2004 Accord with a dead battery, and the grommet on the driver's floorboard. I took off the panels, reinstalled the grommet, and I'm good-to-go. Thanks!
I had the left and right lights not work while the center light remained functional, no blown fuses/relays and the brake switch and bulbs were fine. I fixed the problem by disconnecting and re-connecting the plug towards the back of the trunk on the driver side close to where the wires split to go to the rear/middle light.
Very insightful video. I noticed some small plastic fragments on the driver's side floor board. Never made the connection between the brake pedal switch pad and my lights staying on. $5 and 10 minutes later my brake lights now turn off. Thanks!
Very, very helpful... I picked up the switch at O'Riley for $8 and plan to install it over the weekend. My LED brake lights on my 2006 Accord are dim most of the time. Some say it's the switch. We'll see, I guess!
I have a question, I hope you see this. So my taillights won’t come on or my dash won’t light up when I turn my lights on. My high beams and headlights are good, and when I tap my brakes the brake lights light up. I’m so frustrated and can’t figure it out. My car is a 2000 Honda accord
They don`t sell the broken piece that press and seats against the brake switch at the part store, only the switch. I had found the both parts at the Honda Part dealer.
Great video! Thanks for posting. Question on the brake switch "fine tuning" ... If the switch is not replaced tight enough. Is it possible that the brake lights will work like they're supposed to... But the cruise control function could be impacted to not stay on (because it thinks the brakes are being applied)??
replaced the switch and the lights are still coming on. The plunger on old switch did not seem to be stuck as in other videos. Checked the 20amp fuse, it looked ok? Could not tell if TCS motor fuse was good or not? My meckanic says to clean battery terminals and the fender wall wire harness connection. Which i will do today. What else could be happening to keep the triangle ane 'TCS' coming up on dash?? any help? the pump module is around $1100, so i am hoping it could be just wheel sensors or something cheaper.
Great video! But I am having trouble with the very first step; when I remove the one screw at the bottom left of the front panel, the panel does not come cleanly off the way it does in the video. It is sticking very hard on the right side of the panel, and no amount of pulling will get it off! In fact , the cover is bending in one place to the point of breaking. Is it possible there is another screw holding it in? If so, I am damned if I can see it, let alone access it! Any ideas/suggestions?
I love when people know exactly what they're doing. No bs, just straight to the point. Thank you!

Thank you for this video, I used your information to replace the switch today and it solved my intermittent brake light issue.
You are AWESOME!! The trick about the fuse was all I needed. You saved the day with that one. Thank you, thank you!! Toni and Cara ❤
Very clear info, instructions and video angles, helped me change the break light switch in my accord with ease. Thank you!

this video showed me exactly what was needed and how to solve an issue on my accord euro ( Australian model). thank you.
Thank you sir,short and thorough.
I’m currently watching this video and holding that plastic piece in my hand as we speak. I’m glad it’s something simple as such.
Great camera view at it with a great explanation. Was able to fix the switch myself. 🥳 Thank you for the help.
Thank you so much! I fixed my car myself due to your video

Hey Thanks Man, Just the info i needed.
..thank you.. this saves me a lot of time, and I don't have to struggle trying to read a crappy schematic or service manual, with my crappy eyesight 😆
Very, very helpful...

🙇🏽 Looking under the dash next to the brake panel switch, I noticed a gray connector not connected to anything. Does it connect to somewhere?

My brake lights won't come on at all, and I checked fuses and bulbs! Maybe this is what I need.
Hi i have a 2010 accord LX i jumped the switch and i can hear the relay pull somplace but still no lights. Any other suggestions?
This helped me out thank u!!!
Excellent.
Would this fix a taillight that doesn't turn off?
You are appreciated
you mentioned putting a fuse in the switch if you had one what fuse would you have used???
lifesaver. Much thanks
Super helpful, thanks.
Would this switch cause the shifter to get stuck in park?
How do you change the pice the switch goes into?
Great video! Thanks for posting.

Great tutorial!
What is this switch called? Don't know how to look up online, tried brake light switch but no
Good job
Can this be a problem for a car not going into Park
replaced the switch and the lights are still coming on. The plunger on old switch did not seem to be stuck as in other videos. Checked the 20amp fuse, it looked ok? Is it the same for 2004 accord
Appreciate it fr fam💯
I replaced the brake light switch and the brake lights still do not work, however, the third brake light does work. Any ideas?
Did you get this fixed? I am experiencing the same issue. Thanks
Great video thanks
Thanks you sir !!!!!
Thanks so much!
What's the next step after you replace the TCS switch and you still have no brake lights and your car still won't go in gear
What u end up doing about?
