"Yücel's Flowers" Documentary Film - English Subtitle

Produced by Cengiz Özkarabekir... “Yücel’s Flowers” is a docudrama, telling the story of the Village Institutes through the biographic portraits of the legendary Minister of Education Hasan Âli Yücel and then Director of Primary Education İsmail Hakkı Tonguç. The narrator is Muhammet Uzuner who acts Tonguç. His inner voice tells about Tonguç’s friend, Minister Yücel and about their arduous journey of Village Institutes.
As the Ottoman Empire is nearing its end, they’re both in their days of youth. Despite the limited possibilities, they get a good education. They reach success through to the revolutionary attainments of the Republic of Turkey, and found the Village Institutes. The documentary focuses on what two friends can achieve together. In spite of its tragic ending, they both remain as monuments in the history of education and their names always come along with the Village Institutes.
“Yücel’s Flowers” sends a clear message about the undeniable importance of Ataturk’s reforms for Turkey’s education system.
