Merida might be a Pixar character, but she was perfect for the Disney Princess line. When she reappeared in Ralph Breaks the Internet with all the other princesses, she spoke Scottish Gaelic; she is Scottish after all.
1:28 "How will it feel when this day is done? And can we keep what we've only begun?" The whole song is beautiful but this part in particular sends shivers down my spine. Merida and her mother have finally begun to "mend the bond that was broken by pride" but there's the lingering question in the back of their minds of whether or not they can continue to heal and close the rift that has come between them. Can they continue to nurture this new, healthier, relationship or will they fall back into their old destructive patterns the next day? It's a question that haunts everyone who tries to mend a broken relationship, whether that relationship be familial (mother and daughter), platonic, or romantic. For example, a spouse that cheated on their partner and the couple's attempt to rebuild trust (assuming they don't just break up). Or a friend that betrayed another friend's trust by blabbing a really embarrassing secret. I think we all at some point or another find ourselves attempting to mend a broken relationship, whether that relationship was broken by betrayal, toxic behavior patterns, or simply drifting apart from a lack of communication. That's why I think this song is really powerful and has a universal message we can all relate to. Of course, this doesn't apply to abusive relationships. In order to mend a broken relationship, both people must be willing to put in the effort to change and both must be willing to put past grievances behind them. Abusers don't want to change (most of the time) and even if they do the other person might not be willing to forgive them. Which is their right, as the victim. So yeah, I'm by no means encouraging or condoning really toxic, abusive relationships.
I don't want this to sound bad.It a really beautiful song, and I'm glad that Merida and Elinor finally got along with each other. But i think all this catching fish was not the best idea, because it only hastened Elinor's ferocity and her inner transformation into a bear.
This song played in Brave as Merida taught her mother, Elinor in bear form to catch and fetch and ingest fish the way a bear always does and they played in the water soon after.
I think this is so well done, good job! I have been listening to this song A TON so i can memorize it and sing a beautiful song to my horse, and i have chosen this video every time! Great choice for the background, its very peaceful in an energizing sort of way, like the dreams you have before a drill team competition. (not that i remember mine ;p ) I love this lyric video!
Kelly MacDonald voiced Merida so far at this point. The character's name is also a location in Mexico; the biggest of all Spanish countries on the planet.
Billy Connolly who narrated the legend of Nessie and played Manfred Dargis in Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and the ultimate warlord in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies voiced King Fergus.
Merida isn't the only Scottish character, there's Duff Killigan the villainous golfer from Kim Possible; he too is Scottish, Scrooge McDuck from the Mickey Mouse Universe; also Scottish, and Donald and Douglas the identical twin black switcher steam locomotives from Thomas and Friends; they are Scottish as well.
Emma Thompson who played the captain of the RLS Legacy in Treasure Planet, P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks and Mrs. Potts in the live-action Beauty and the Beast voiced Queen Elinor.
Sean Connery passed away after playing one of the many different versions of James Bond and Indiana Jones's father in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Donald and Douglas the Scottish Twin Engines will appear in the cinema where I am viewing Time Shift along with all the rest of my favorite fictional characters.
Jesus had a brilliant follower who suffered the same crucifixion as he did, only diagonally; it gave birth to Scotland's flag, the bagpipes are Scotland's traditional instrument, haggis is one of the most flamboyant meals in Scotland, Nessie the fabled Loch Ness Monster was tracked down by Scottish researchers for generations, Hogwarts Castle from the Harry Potter franchise is set on one of Scotland's loch glens, Daphne Blake has a Scottish cousin named Shannon, a Californian boy lived in Scotland and helped a family of vampires reverse a dark spell, golf was born in Scotland and there are Scottish celebrities; Kelly MacDonald, Ewan McGregor, Billy Connolly, Robert Louis Stevenson; the author of Treasure Island and the late Sean Connery.
People have ridden United Kingdom trains across the Glenfinnan Viaduct to reach both England and Scotland on the same day. The Hogwarts Express crossed it to reach the castle.

Was there ever any doubt that she was Scottish?
Well she was Disney Pixar

I don’t know why, but this song (in its Russian version, “Flying Far Away Freely”/“Вольно вдаль лететь“) reminded me about the tale of the Snow Queen.
