Good for David. He's getting so much flak right now because he went after a member of the British government who says and does terrible things against the LGBTQIA+community. He's not afraid to use his voice and I admire him for it.

@@barryledgister4496 It's not my job to educate you on the things that woman has said and done with regards to the LGBTQIA community, especially the trans community. You'll either look her up or you won't . David has been an advocate for the trans community for a long time now and has used his voice in opposition of the hate and vitriol and the hypocrisy that person espouses on a regular basis. Him finally telling her to shut up mirrors the anger and frustration that many of us have with her and people like her. It was a very human moment for David and most of us get that. It's up to you to look up her dangerous rhetoric and actions. Considering that a majority of Brits and Americans agree with him he's going to be just fine. Btw her response to him was to hurl racist insults at him. She doesn't have the moral high ground. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

They`re not lone voices in the dark speaking up for powerless people. David Tennant is just the actors wing of the powerful LGBTQIA+ community and orgs. In fact where are the Labour MPs and lobbyists speaking alongside him? Even people at the award weren`t getting onside. Sometimes, if you`re a lone voice, that`s because few people agree with you.

Okay, I'm in tears at David's speech. It hit hard, as I'm a 47 year old woman who was supposed to be a man, and didn't end up living my best true life because of pressure and fear, and now because I am married to a man who I love, but who is cis and straight. @@Sendarya You know what's funny? Between you, David, and several wonderful queer and trans people in my life, I got the courage to speak to my husband about what I was feeling. We had a deep conversation about it, and it turns out he's okay with the idea of me transitioning at least somewhat. He's definitely okay with top surgery, only worried about side effects with HRT, and we're both in agreement that it's a no to bottom surgery (which would have been a no for me no matter what).

As long as all act decent, just do the same and spare them your opinions, if they are not asked for. If YOU like it, stick to it: your life, your decision, no bad feelings (don't let OTHERS twist you - one way or the other)🎉🏳️‍🌈🏁😅

      @@LisaBeta-42 And that's great.
Sadly, there are so many people who still treat LGBTQIA+ people appallingly - just as people have mistreated People of Colour, Romani, women, left-handers, autistic/ADHD people and anyone else they felt was "inferior" or "wrong" for so long.
It would be bloody awesome if people didn't do that; if everyone just let people be *who they really are* without mistreating them and we didn't need an award that says "hey, you're great at being a *decent human being* instead of one of the many nasty people out there". Sadly, we're not there, yet.
People are no more "in control" of being LGBTQIA+ than they are of being a woman, left-handed, autistic or any given skin colour/ethnicity. These are all fundamental aspects of the way we were born and don't change, no matter how much someone beats you up and threatens to kill you if you love the "wrong" gender or write with the "wrong" hand.
Ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexuality, writing hand and brain "wiring" are all things that we don't have a choice over, they're part of how we're born.
Political views, religious beliefs and bigotry are all things that we *do* have a choice over - they're all things we may have _grown up with_ but we can change those views in the light of our own experiences and observations or if those views are harmful to other people.
I'm going to be turning 61 soon, grew up in a time where it was socially and often *legally* acceptable to be sexist, racist and homophobic, when there were no diagnoses for ADHD and autism (so the kids were called "disobedient" and worse) - but it was easy to see the harm those views were doing and to recognise the hypocrisy of those telling me to be compassionate and understanding (and not to be sexist or racist) in one breath then being blatantly homophobic in the next or being outwardly supportive of our obviously gay cousin and later making comments about how it must be "a disappointment to a mother to have a son turn out to be queer" or casually promoting harmful stereotypes about gays being predatory (when none of the gay people I met were predatory)...
In the face of that, I found it very easy to reject a large number of the prevailing views and beliefs about LGBTQIA+ people along with rejecting obviously wrong views about Māori and Pacific Islanders or women in the workplace.

I'm sorry, but I'm really quite disappointed you didn't also at least lightly criticise David Tennant for wishing the only black woman in government out of existence and to shut up because he doesn't agree with what she says.
Her job is Equality and women's protection and thus literally to speak on those issues. But while he can put his view across, she should just shut up?!
I've loved David Tennant since I first saw him in Doctor Who I've watched lots of stuff, including Good Omens, simply because he was in it.
But his comments about Kemi Badenock were appalling to me and the fact that you didn't even mention it but sold his whole speech as all 'humble, genuine, showing LOVE and EMPATHY' unfortunately has me unsubscribing.
Like David Tennant said, I don't wish ill of you... just that you weren't a fucking hypocrite, or that you had qualified your comment with 'but only to those who agree with him'.
I do want to thank you for your videos that I previously enjoyed immensely, and wish you all the best -
Because unlike Tennant I'm not an asshole so I'm not going to try and take away you're right to say whatever you want, or even give your video a thumbs down.
    Take care

    • @Sendarya
      @Sendarya  5 месяцев назад +29

Well, thank you for your honesty, telling me you aren't an asshole while also calling me a "fucking hypocrite" for having a different opinion than you. I am not someone who foments drama in my videos. But I don't support terfs. You can't pull the race and sex card when the race and sex of the person in question was not the issue, it was her policy and opinion of other people that was being criticized. Anyone can be criticized if you disagree with them. Being a woman doesn't give you free license to say anything you like. Women can hold terrible opinions, and make harmful policies.
I will leave your comment, and my response up, for others to see and make their own judgement. If I lose subs over it, so be it. When it comes to LGBT rights, I know where I stand, and I'm willing to die on this hill. I'm just a nobody lady on YouYube, but like David, I say "You will have to go through ME."
However, I will not call you names, as you did with me. You do have a right to your opinion, even if I disagree with it.
