Hi thanks for the awesome videos. Helping me out tons. I’ve been trying to figure out if it’s possible to do online edits on an S7-400 or S7-1200. I guess I mean do an edit offline and then send only the changes so the plc stays running and operational. Thanks.

I have one question on uploading a project... do you have to know the IP address of the PLC? do you have to be on the same subnet, or is it ok if you leave the ethernet adapter on DHCP? I'm trying to upload a code from an old cpu 315-2 pn/dp... hopefully I can do that from TIA Portal. Thanks again!

Once I did it but didn't worked at all. It doesn't upload Forced values (or forced tables) so I couldn't do it as simple because it wasn't easy to know which tags had to be forced, for example in that case, some digital inputs.
how about in TIA - HMI? - can you make a tutorial that to be upload and editable

Is it possible to protect the program with a password? I mean, I have a PLC, let's say S7-1200 or S7-1500, running with a working program. I connect the my PC to the PLC and follow the steps described in this video to backup the program. Now I have a fully working project on my hands. In my case, I would want to have some protection there. I don't want random people to be able to go our PLC's and backup our programs and be able to use them. Would it be a possible to have a password prompt before starting the upload? Or would it be possible to have all the data hidden in the project if no correct password is given?

Sir,through the tia potral ...can take the HMI backup?....and differ between simatic manager and tia .....
...and, at this point, at least 3 more questions arise spontaneously...

Question: if give a laptops with multiple versions of software and a plc how do you tell what kind of version that is already uploaded on a plc. For example Tia portal version 15.1 or versions 16 or any other version.

My factory buy a equipment but the seller don't want to give us the bakup and in the training of the equipment i see a well organization of the program and he explain based in that organization but when i go online without the backup i see another organization, then, my question, when i upload the program i'm going to have the same organization that when he download or not?

I have uploaded a project from ET200S CPU. Almost everything seems to be ok except one FB which is showing that, "SCL blocks uploaded from an S7-300/400 module cannot be edited". Eventually I cannot download this project to another CPU. What can I do now in this situation?

Nice sir, in WinCC flexible i am taking 256 color object from graphics but in high bit 1 (Run bit) i put green color but during high bit green color not showing. But enhance object is ok. but i want to take an actuator from graphics. please advise me for this.

One video won't be enough to cover those topics. There is quite a lot to all of them! Will make some stuff later on, but mainly on PROFINET, as it is the one being developed the most and I think will be the one true standard at some point. (except of course for some Sensor/Actuator to PLC interface, but that is not really communication)
What if I try to go online and upload and the upload button says update instead? I"m a newb for siemens. I'm allen bradley guy. Is this a version compatability thing. The plc has v15. I have 17 installed? Thanks in advance

You can upload only Tia13 and later projects.
What is the difference of this in archive/retrieve? genuine question. I want to know, so if our HMI encounters any error and need to download hmi program again, I will know. Thanks in advance

I tried to migrate a program from s7 300 toTIA, but tags and hardware Config missing. Later update the program with simatic manager and downloaded to PLC.
I am using windows 8.1 OS.

Old plc system expecially S7 300 are mostly done in simatic manager. The think is that nobody want to reprogram the whole program of a running old system with Tia for a minor change.
I have worked with one profibus ASi interface link at site which is old and obsolete its production.
The program done in simatic manager. But new model of same components not available in simatic mamager. Is there any option can I update the simatic manager library for new model NUMBER?

maybe the HMI program doesn't upload to PC and the driver can upload use Starter or SCOUT.

I tried with some recent backup to connect to PLC and compare, but i am unable to compare my blocks which was written using Graph language, but i could able to compare the online blocks for blocks which was written in ladder language. IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPLOAD FROM A LOCKED CPU, Program backup lost and CPU also locked by system integrator and ran away. Now customer not able to change anything, we have to upload from CPU. Please advise is it possible?
This so great. Omron (CX-One) had this exact feature 15 years ago, and then I started to work with the 300 series. It was always a nightmare scenario to loose the program and the project backup.

For Siemens HMI you don't have any option to upload the project! You can only get an image using Siemens Automation Tool that you can download to a new HMI for example, soo you can not edit and etc.

Quick question: I’m using a 1200 in a machine that is close to 10 years old. When I try to upload I get the error “the configuration was created with an earlier version of the TIA portal and cannot be uploaded.”
Is there any way for me to get this program? Even just the working version with no plc tags, etc.
You are trying to download from the PLC, is that correct?
@@KanedaNLD Yes, I'm trying to get the original program that is on the PLC, back onto my PC.
@@EvanRobert Yeah, for some reason that won't work. If you have the original program on your computer, you can upgrade it to a newer version. You can't download the older program from a PLC with a newer TIA version...
You can try an old version of TIA Portal
@@KanedaNLD Ya, it's strange. I don't have the original. Someone else programmed them at my work a number of years ago and is no longer around. So I had to recreate the program based on how the machine worked. I managed to remake it and everything is working and now I'm able to tweak it how we need to.

I do have any issue while downloading backup from physical PLC....I have 2 PLC of 1212C and 1214C....When I tried to upload first one got downloaded and while doing the same for the second one it's show station name is not unique I tried to change device name....but still I faced issue .....could you pls support on this...mean time I tried to upload the config from HMI using same method....that also failed....as I don't have back up for any of my station PLC,driveS120,HMI..I would appreciate your reply or a new video...

I tried the same way that you did in the video while uploading am getting below error.
1) loading will not be performed because precondition are not met.
2) restrictions for uploading to PG/ PC
Depending on the firmware version of your device, it might not be possible to upload the project. Try to check on the internet, if your current firmware supports uploads
