- Starting June 1, everything from clamshell takeout containers to coffee cups to trays and other food and drink carriers will be outlawed, so long as those items are made from expanded polystyrene (EPS).

Washington state is ridiculous, worrying about styrofoam. How about Washington take care of important issues like “lack of police officers” because our state doesn’t support police officers, cleaning up drug infested cities, reducing crime rate for the safety of people, etc. We need a new Governor and Administration that actually helps our state.

Styrofoam takeout containers have been banned in Burien for two years. Great job letting everyone know about this small business in Burien that is out of compliance.
Already switched to cardboard inside coated containers in many states . Saw this when styrofoam first out why so long to do anything ?

It would be more beneficial to offer incentives to get rid of your lawn and plant native species of plants and pollinator food flowers. Soil - good healthy soil- is a great carbon absorber. so are native plants. also less water use and no mowing. grass is just a waste of dirt.

You can make cardboard out of hemp. It'll be useful for the environment and these people. Plus since the warehouses have surplus of hemp leaves it could be cheap alternatives.

It's smug to think it's better to save money on something so small instead of making a positive change for the environment. If businesses can't cope with something so small then perhaps they're better off closing. Times change and so should the laws.

You are inconveniencing everyone else for your onw agenda. "... then perhaps they're better off closing.". That is your answer to an elderly couple who was planning to retire from this business? Seriously? This will have a negligible effect on the environment, but it will directly negatively affect people ... but you are happy about it? You are the villain in this story.
