That's interesting.. I can now imagine him and Hoffman having a deeper relationship bc why else did Hoffman stay, it seemed like he just liked doing his own thing and he kinda was just doing his own thing before john. He was jealous of Amanda and Jill and that's why he did what he did, unless he did it because he wanted to be top dog with no consequences
This is the first one I’ve seen since Saw 2 that was actually good! 😁👍 They knew the assignment … people love John Kramer, so let’s give them a reason to cheer him on with his dang traps. 😂 I honestly think I cringed MORE watching the pixelated version here than I did watching it in the theater! 🤣
@10:07 world of movies I know. But, IRL experimentals are few, and far between. My father's lung cancer was found in July, and by August all he had was experimental. However, in 1998, the Labor Day storm hit CNY, and he was deemed too weak to receive an experimental treatment that now has been proven to reverse lung cancer.
I respect your decision to watch it now, but I would have recommended waiting till after Saw 4. By then you would have gotten a much better glimpse of John's character
I like this movie but don’t love it. What’s good about it is very good, but I think it suffers from third act problems, the ending falls super flat for me. I think they had to make Cecilia so over the top and cartoonishly at the end to make up for the movie fully embracing John as a hero, and that weakens things a lot for me. Jigsaw is interesting because he’s so confident that he’s in the right when morally he’s not, and I think the series (as trashy as it can be) was consistent with this. So they had to shift their own morality window, which can be explained somewhat by it being told from his perspective. For instance, adding in Carlos at the end felt forced just to be like, “See, John is so moral and upstanding, look how tragic an undeserving kid being subjected to this”, as if he didn’t already threaten to kill an innocent wife and child in Saw 1. I am glad we got to have a movie to let Tobin Bell really shine as a great actor. He’s great in Saw 2, but that’s as just a total piece of crap haha. He was great in this movie, and he’s meant so much to the series, so it was nice to see, nice to get more interactions with Amanda to bridge the gap between how she is in 2 and 3.
Yay! for you reacting to this. I think this is one of the best movies in the franchise or even the best in the series. Also - Don't diss on the blond Nordic as she was quite competent lol
When we get to Valentina's trap, I honestly can't say that I blame you at all. That was EASILY one of the brutal traps in the entire franchise, and the filmmaking is incredible. Not only does the actress give 150% and completely sell every moment of agony, but the sound design is exquisite! Also, yes, that WAS a full three minutes in movie time. In fact, it was actually slightly longer. From the moment the timer starts ticking to the moment it runs out, it's actually three minutes and 15 seconds. The tricky thing is that there's a clear time dilation. When we see the shot of the timer reaching 1:00, its only been about one minute and 45 seconds, and then the last in-movie minute is stretched out to more like a minute and a half.
I have never wanted a villain out of all the saw films to die more than I wanted to Cecilia to. She was a true psychopath and made John Kramer look sane
