  • We’re accounting at Pilgrim Haven in South Haven, Michigan. We are finding fossils, epidote, feldspar, agate, lightning stones, granite, porphyry, geodes and much more. We are always looking for Petoskey stones and fossils like Charlevoix stone or honeycomb coral, Cladapora, horn coral and others. Finding rocks and minerals in South West Michigan. Finding Petoskey stones in southwest Michigan. Where can I find nice rocks and minerals in southwest Michigan? Rocky beaches in Michigan.

I found a spot you would love to go to, if you haven't been yet. It's just south of Pier Cove, Wau Ke Na nature preserve. I'm heading to southwest MI next weekend to St Joseph and ending at Pier Cove. I'll let you know how it is.

I visited Pilgrim Haven and Deerlick Creek Park back in May. Many, many rocks. But I was not impressed enough to go back again. The two beaches are small, usually are very crowded, and it was really hard to walk on all those rocks. I was slipping and sliding and my feet hurt.

Proper footwear goes a long way and I'm not sure if your a Rockhound but they never complain about too many rocks lol. Many are not willing to simply dig a little...found many agates there by simply searching.

I just visited Deerlick Park about a month ago for the first time. I was so excited by my finds, I ordered a rock tumbler and grits the next week, and my finds are still on stage 1.
