what's really special about this performance that a few days before this, her ex fiance wrote a really alarming post on his instagram and she had tried to visit him on set because she was so scared because she already lost her ex boyfriend by a drug overdose. so you can really tell how sad she was singing this. also the song is about mac miller

I’m pretty sure this is right after her and Pete Davidson broke up (a tumultuous relationship) and she was still dealing with the loss of Mac Miller, a boyfriend she was with for two years who was a beloved rapper and he overdosed. They broke up because he relapsed and she kind of rushed into a relationship with Pete and a couple of months later Mac was gone. She’s strongly hinted that this song was about Mac.
