Hey, I was about to spend almost $4000 on a vintage look Omega Seamaster 300..........I think I'm about to save me a heap of money, now. Thank you, I'd never heard of this watch before.
I have an Omega Seamaster 300 1957 Trilogy and a Baltic Aquascaphe. There's no comparison between the two. The quality of everything about the Seamaster is outstanding and the co-axial movement is absolutely superior to the garbage Miyota of the Aquascaphe. The rotor of the Miyota is the loudest of any watch I've ever heard, and apparently this is normal. The Aquascaphe looks incredible in photos, and it's pretty sharp on the wrist, but the movement is a severe letdown for the price. I can wear mine all day and it will be dead the next morning or off by a few hours.
@@vepr_157 I have a watch with a Miyota movement and I can confirm, it has practically no power reserve. It is advertised as a 48hr power reserve, my watch will die within 28 hours after a full wind. It gains around 20 secs a day to boot.
Wow, that really stands out! Checks many boxes for me. First gen diver aesthetic, 39mm, good highbeat movement, sapphire galore wrapped in a beautiful deep blue🤩 Looks to be a winner! I’d be all over that had I not recently purchased a Steiny Ocean One Vintage that I affectionately named “The Boat Anchor “- that damn thing is massive😳
Really like the way this one came together. The thin bezel is such a cool touch, much more versatile than most standard divers. I could totally see using this as a dress watch as well as a dive watch.

That’s a perfect watch it’s beautiful design wise ! Only thing I’m thinking is firstly how does it feel like quality wise in person, and for that price point is the movement a solid choice? Because I’ve got a steinhart for less money lovely eta movement but design wise is a off course a Rolex rip off we call an “homage” this thing is genuine and very stylish ! I hope the movement is good enough to last and keep accurate time
Very Nice review. This just came up in my recommended section and I'm glad it did! never heard of this brand before but it's a very nice watch. Great Review 👍👍👍
I will never be able to understand why so many dive watches use friction clasps or those safety clasps. Push button's FTW. Why? If you ever dive a lot (4-6 tanks a day) and appropriately trim your nails, you won't be in for a good time with friction clasps. It almost hurts to take them off after a while. All nails get super soft after you've been in the water all day. Definitely not diver friendly. I once forced myself (while on a live aboard dive cruise) to leave my dive watch on it got so bad. LOL. I'm sure many other divers would understand.
@@sashachip These are not dive watches per say. They are fashion accessories. The technology is completely outdated. I'm surprised you are so ignorant, if you actually do dive as your suggest.
@@PK-mx7nf Can there not be a choice? Some of us like to dive with traditional watches, especially when free diving. I think you’ve identified the ignorant one.
What watches would you recommend for someone in your business who is diving a lot? How important is luminescence? Clasps, as you say? Band material? Dome/glass? Have you got a range of picks? 200bucks up to $10,000? Cheap or expensive? You can DM me or mention your ... top three, here?
I really wanted one of these but they had just sold out before I got the chance to place my order. Now, they're being sold for double the price or even higher on the secondary market by people who bought them just to resell them. Feels bad, man.
LUME PROBLEM/QUESTION: I just received my aquascaphe. The lume on the dial is extremely weak, in marked contrast to the hands and bezel. Is there any issue with yours? The lume shots you have in your review are great. I emailed Baltic, and they absurdly and somewhat curtly said that it wasn't a defect, and that you need black light to have the dial lume be bright, and that W&W used blacklight. Did you do anything atypical for your lume shot? Thanks in advance! I'm going to have to decide how much to fight this. (BTW, I absolutely love everything else about the watch and BOR bracelet!)
Not an expert by any means here, but I would imagine lots of reviewers would put the watch up to a bright light source for a bit to get the best lume shot. I got a Orient Ray and lume brightness falls off dramatically
Thanks for the great review Zach. Is the dial a matte sunburst finish? I kmow you said it has some gloss but its hard to tell from the macro shots. Could you comment on that? Thx!
Hi buddy, what was the luminescence like? I would like to buy this watch before I go out to Malta in April? Are the numerals/crown quite bright under water or in the dark?
Nice review, thanks! When does the preorder end? The website isn't helpful with that info.. Oh wait, their Instagram is more helpful. Preorders end Dec 21st.
I’ve been waiting for a video review so thanks! On the fence for this one...black/cream or the blue or...go for Lorier Neptune V2. Different watches but similar in execution. The Lorier is 48 L2L and has an acrylic crystal that’s thicker than the V1. So many things to love on the Baltic....but it’s about $165 more. Miyota versus Seiko (movement), sapphire v. acrylic, beads of rice v.... etc. The couple that produce the Lorier are also so darn nice! What to do? Or just save up and get the Tudor Black Bay 58.
Thanks for your input ! Double sapphire glass, but also but sapphire on the bezel ! And that is an expansive choice in terms of cost but add a real charm to the watch. The watch takes the light the same way between the glass and the bezel, and its perfect like this. :)
Who makes the 6th watch in your opening sequence? With the stainless case, brown band, and the nameless, rose gold -colored face? It's pretty gorgeous.
Very nice design choices and for sure a very attractive piece. Unfortunately, overpriced. The watch with the SS bracelet, after preorder, will cost you 800 EUR here in Belgium (VAT incl.). Spare a bit more and you got yourself an Oris 65 so not sure about their strategy there.
"a bit more"? The Oris costs a thousand EUR more than this watch (and has a date, which I don't want). I'm strongly considering pre ordering the Baltic.
The Miyota 9000 serie movements aren't wobbly or noisy at all; they're entirely comparable the the ETA 2824. You're thinking of the budget 8000 series Miyotas.
Many movements, like the ETA 2824 for example, come with a date complication and a position via the crown through which you can adjust the date. Most watches using 2824s feature dates, but sometimes they don't. Unless modified, a date-free watch using a movement with a built-in date complication will still have the date-change mechanism operating beneath dial, which means that you'll still have the date position via the crown (it just doesn't do anything). Some find this to be inelegant, and it can make a watch feel "incomplete," but a date free movement is often only possible via special order, so it's not always worth the additional cost. Hope that clarifies things a bit.
Great looking watch, but I can't help but notice the almost smeared looking lume on some of the hour markers (at 8 oclock, for example). Seems like one of those things that you can't un-see - hope that's just a pre-production issue.
Baltic is doing a great job with these vintage inspired designs. That beads of rice bracelet kind of kills it though. Would’ve looked so much nicer with just a clean oyster bracelet. Also the L2L is too long for a 39mm case at 47mm. It should’ve been 45mm and would’ve sit much nicer on the wrist as a result. The Seiko007 is 42.5mm and still manages to keep the L2L at 46. This is also overpriced by around $150.
$750 now that we’re approaching their release date. At that price it’s comparable to my Seiko 62MAS SBDC051. Similar specs only 6R15 has 50 hour power reserve. I’m still contemplating getting one. Love the vintage look.
Roughdraft214 I have both. The seiko has a bold and a bit over powering look or may be you can say has more wrist presence. The indices are bigger and bolder and the dial is also slightly bigger and taller. The Aquascaphe is more vintage looking, a bit muted but is bit more sophisticated design. It is also slightly smaller and thinner. It really depends what suits your personality.
To expensive. The Hudson from new micro brand Maen is offering a vintage inspired diver with domed sapphire and an Eta 2824-2 elaborie movement for $399. Absolute show stopper. Take notes all you other micro-brands, he'll even big name brands
Well, movements are not what you see. I have a watch with ETA movement and it is the most unreliable and prone to be magnetized of all my watches. I'd rather have a watch that looks like it has a soul that a lump of metal with a swiss made stamp.
Nice design and details but why pair that to a Miyota movement ? Putting in a Sellita Swiss movement would not have cost that much more. I think that’s taking the piss , thinking most customers are dumb and don’t know anything about movements. No , no , I won’t be buying it.
No, I like this bracelet better. I also like the fact that this crystal is still vintage looking but sapphire, while the Lorier crystal is acrylic. Price is beetter on the Lorier, though, but the numbers have a warmer look on the Baltic. I like the Lorier's "deep pan" look, though, which my Marathon diver also has.
Nowadays it seems that the price point for some unknown companies is US$ 600.00. On the other hand we have Phoibos and Spinnaker selling more and more every day, with watches under US$ 300.00.
I had Spinnaker and Phoibos, sold it, the quality is decent but with various flaws. This Baltic i couldnt even pick any flaws except the lumes being a bit weak.
I really wanted to love this watch but when I inspected it with high magnification lighted Jewelers glasses I noticed a lot of grease and gunk on the inside of the crystal. This combined with a really wobbly crown and a terrible bracelet clasp has me regretting my purchase.
for the price of this watch, I'd rather have a Steinhart ocean one Vintage red. Cheaper, powered by swiss movement, built in Germany. These microbrands need to seriously price their watches. For the specs they offer, I'd like to see something around $350, or maybe upgrade it to ETA movement. Here they have it over $600, at the point where you can consider getting an Oris diver (probably 2nd) with swiss in house movement
350 dollars isn't realistic I'm afraid... A double dome sapphire, a sapphire bezel with a new developed beads of rice bracelet. All assemble in France. You are far from what is a sustainable business with 350$.It is You need to consider that a brand also needs to have a margin to develop itself. Wornandwound did an interview/podcast of Jason Lim (halios) who speaks pretty good about that: setting a price. He mentioned us in that regards. Definitely worth listen to it. Steinhart is doing war on price, we don't, but our watches have different appeal for different tastes.
@@norketie Huge respect for what you have achieved here with this very tasteful watch. I love that you are designing and assembling watches in France. As a watch lover and wanna be entrepreneur, you can certainly count me as a future customer. Amazing work!
@@norketie I have seen all of your Baltic watches, they are nice, very nice, but to be very honest they are not that special. Look at brands like Hamilton, Seiko, Orient, Edox, Oris,.... who have been making watches for decades, most of their watches are manufactured in Switzerland, Japan; so the fact that you mentioned your watches are assembled in France doesn't really help with that given price. Your watch designs, I have nothing to complain, in fact, I love them. But are you sure that you are the only one that provides those designs in the next 3 years? I'm telling you, there will be another brand with the exact design philosophy, put the exact Miyota movement and then price it 30% cheaper than yours. That is what happens with MICROBRANDS, they come out of no where, use japanese movements (or chinese), spend loads of money for reviews like this. I personally love the baltic chronograph, perfect size and design. Also there is this chronograph Seagull 1963, very similar case design, exact same movement, 50% percent cheaper. So the question is how many people are willing to spend twice as much for the one that is assembled in France. I would buy the Baltic without thinking twice, if only it were around $400
You critics have no idea how much money it costs to make a watch like this and have it assembled in France and not by some 14yo being paid $7/day in Southeast Asia. The company is a small business and the owner deserves to earn a decent salary off his investment. Sure he can probably sell them at $400 and break even but does anyone start a business to break even? When was the last time you saw a Seiko, or Hamilton, or.....that looked like this in the $350-400 range? If it exists then go buy that watch but they don’t exist. The only Seiko I can compare to this is the SPB051 and that’s even more expensive than this.
Really beautiful watch, but looks almost like a dead-on copy of the Lorier Neptune V2. The Baltic has sapphire, but it’s $200 more and the bracelet is not near as attractive as the Neptune’s.
A parts bin watch with a Miyota movement. wouldn’t give more than 399 for this watch on a good day. even at that price, you’re paying for the style. Well, movements are not what you see. I have a watch with ETA movement and it is the most unreliable and prone to be magnetized of all my watches. I'd rather have a watch that looks like it has a soul that a lump of metal with a swiss made stamp.
The Hudson looks completely mundane and boring.

Nice design and details but why pair that to a Miyota movement ? Putting in a Sellita Swiss movement would not have cost that much more. I think that’s taking the piss , thinking most customers are dumb and don’t know anything about movements. No , no , I won’t be buying it.
May buy it just for the strap to put on my oris 65..
You can buy those straps on ebay -,-
😍
Does anyone actually go diving with these watches?
Some do!
Yum. It’s like a poor man’s Oris 65. I’m in.
Poor man? More like vastly better value than Oris 65 junk.
Too expensive for specs...
You are right
Awesome watch but I prefer the Lorier Neptune .cheaper and better design and bracelet imo.
Lorier is acrylic, 6 tics a second. I like to bracelet. I like this one way better overall.
demheelsbeastin Cheaper because it’s made in China.
Cheaper yes, but design no better and the BOR bracelet simply wins hands down for Baltic.
If I'm paying 600 for a watch it better have date
I'd pay extra to remove a date
Nowadays it seems that the price point for some unknown companies is US$ 600.00. On the other hand we have Phoibos and Spinnaker selling more and more every day, with watches under US$ 300.00.
I had Spinnaker and Phoibos, sold it, the quality is decent but with various flaws. This Baltic i couldnt even pick any flaws except the lumes being a bit weak.
Not a big fan of that steel bracelet
I really wanted to love this watch but when I inspected it with high magnification lighted Jewelers glasses I noticed a lot of grease and gunk on the inside of the crystal. This combined with a really wobbly crown and a terrible bracelet clasp has me regretting my purchase.
wanna sell yours to me? hahaha
lol miyota movement and its $650??
for the price of this watch, I'd rather have a Steinhart ocean one Vintage red.
Steinhart is a German company but the watches are Swiss made. They are great for the money. I agree.
The Neptune V2 looks like a Tudor with Seiko hands and Submariner dial. The Baltic looks way better to me.
Lorier looks better and the bracelet is much better design
Why this looks like an Oris?
Why do you ask other people why this watch looks like an oris to you?
In which way it looks like an Oris? Please provide the Oris model or you are bullshitting or having poor vision.
Looks like the oris diver.
$900 after taxes to the UK, no thanks..
And blame the watch instead of your stupid taxation in UK, nice.
A parts bin watch with a Miyota movement. wouldn’t give more than 399 for this watch on a good day. even at that price, you’re paying for the style. I have a watch with a Miyota movement and I can attest that it has practically no power reserve. It is advertised as a 48hr power reserve, my watch will die within 28 hours after a full wind. It gains around 20 secs a day to boot.
No Date, No Buy.
Gentleman1147 I bought it because it doesn’t have a date.
Symmetry > date window.
Date, no buy
if it had a date, I wouldn't buy
