  • One of the most brutal execution methods used throughout History was known in Asia as Lingchi. This was also known as 'Death By 1000 Cuts,' and it was a slow torture and execution method which was harrowing. But many people flocked to see this happening, and shockingly it was an execution method that was even used in the 20th century.

Kang Xiaoba was the last person legally executed in this way in China, though lingchi had already been abolished by then. The Dowager Empress Cixi was so outraged by his crimes and his behaviour that she ordered the lingchi be carried out. There were no longer any people who could administer the punishment, but they searched the rolls of retired officials and found a guy who could do it. There was a suspicion that Kang had deliberately outraged Cixi because he wanted a punishment that would engrave his name in the annals of history, and he succeeded in this. The executioner was very polite to him, burned incense and asked for his forgiveness for what he was about to do. Kang forgave him and promised that his soul would not pursue him in the afterlife. The executioner told him there was no shame in crying out with pain, but Kang said he wouldn't and apparently he suffered the punishment in silence.

What made this worst is all the prisoners got to eat was salt and vinegar crisps and lemons.

I have read over the years from different sources that they were often drugged to ENHANCE the pain, not to drug them up to make it more bearable as you stated.

I read once that they made post cards of the scenes and only stopped when a Dutch sailor sent one home, this shamed them into abolishing it

It sounds beyond vile. No doubt they will bring it back one day. The world seems to be going backwards. Thank you for the video.

Animals. Sometimes I wonder how such terrible things are possible. But I am reminded that if the worst things are not possible, then the best things could not also be possible. Use this as proof that if evil can exist, good also exists in even more abundance.
