More awesomeness Eddie stuff that I can learn which amazes me thank you very much Marty because without you I probably wouldn't be able to figure it out.😁
Excellent lesson sir! 😁 Can't get over that beautiful Wolfgang guitar brother. Man... This tune is packed with EVH goodies. Glad that you did this lesson for us man. I remember this was the 1st 5150 Hagar tune that I heard on radio in 86. Blasts me back to summer indeed. 5150 was and is killer, my 1st compact disc. Thank you! 😎🎸☀
Thanks man! I love this white wolfy!! Reminds me of the one Ed played in the later years! And I hear ya man... this song takes me back to having my license for the first time and having my book box in the car blaring this tune! What a great summer. 😎🎵🎵🎵🌞
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker My thoughts exactly, and that guitar looks like the same color that Ed played during his last 2015 tour. Even got the red kill switch. Awesome man
Great song. With songs like these I find a looper handy (as much as I hate them), to punch the synth part in and out. It just makes the fuller/complete sound and helps with getting the timing right.
Love this Van Hagar lessons (my favorite VH era). Can you explain what are the chords underneath the double stop "solo"? You did explain them over the arpeggio parts but not what under the double stop part. Thanks!
Someone said the opening riff sounded like Beethoven’s 9th. The verse has a Jackson’s 5 vibe to my ears…so many other cool things are happening on this song. One of the most exhilarating songs written ever for sure.
That intro is a classic “DOO-WOP” progression from the 1950s. Recently I was thinking about the band as people and realized I totally missed about every VH member, but affects everything from DLR’s showmanship to the core of their music, is that all the members of VH grew up hearing 50s and early 60s popular music (and jazz standards were an accepted part of that popular music!). That was a long fcukin’ sentence🤣. Sorry about that -I’ll stop while I’m behind.
Ok, so what makes the "A" power chord an Aminor chord. I would venture a guess the additional notes being played on the G,B,E open strings? And if I forget, get lazy, sloppy etc and don't play those additional notes the Aminor chord becomes an A power chord? I so wish I had you as a Sensei and you tube way back when I picked up my Dad's old acoustic guitar that was just laying around. EVH's Women and Children and Diver Down albums and Guitar Magazine, which I used to have the 1st ever edition, I lost somewhere, was the only thing that I could reference. So sadly having to learn with no real curriculum, I am asking this rudimentary question 35+ years later, but I am stubborn and won't stop until I figure this guitar playing thing out before I check out of this plane of existence.TIA
Great lesson but based on the chords you’re showing I’m not sure modulating to Dm is correct. The chords are all straight out of C Maj with the exception of Bb Maj used to transition back to the C chord. It’s a flat 7th chord which isn’t an uncommon way to get back to the root in rock. I’m not sure the greatest way to explain that with theory but in my brain the most probable way is that he is “borrowing” or partially split key playing between C Maj and C Mixolydian to do so … anyway. Just a thought.
Even though I dont like the sound of the keyboards in this song, This song if had a real tasty finger tapping flashy guitar solo could have been really huge.
Plus the 15k man !!’
This is one of my favorites. Love the keys and Sammy‘s vocals. 5150 was a great record.
Brother , you are incredible
Nothing but happy memories with this one! Never tried it because of the keyboards but will now as a guitar only version.
Absolutely man!! Happy times and memories! 5150 time! 😎🍺
5150 did it again . Another evh solo to learn .thanks man u give me evh hope
I absolutely enjoy how you teach.
Cheers
Thank you man! I am always glad to hear that I help out others. Makes it all worth while! 😎🍺

15k! Congrats
Thanks Geoffrey!! It keeps on Ticking up!!!
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Yessir!
Excellent job pulling the curtain and showing us the structure of a great song
Thank you
It would take me a year to figure all this out...

Oh yeh, great idea man and strategy. I agree with you in that!
Great video. Can i ask how you record your audio with the video so well? The guitar recording sounds very good!

Really awesome man. Nice spectacles! Congrats on the 15k. F.I.D.!😎
Thanks Doug!!! FID lol!! 😎🍺
Excellent work Marty!!
Awesome nicely done dude.
Thanks man! I appreciate ya watching 😎🎸
Wooo! Great lesson Marty 🤘
another great lesson!
No debating, Hagar/Roth both great. Eddie was more raw with David and became more melodic with Sammy. I loved it all! nice lesson buddy!
Indeed, that is so true!!! And you're welcome man! Thanks for watching 😎🤟🏻
thank you marty you’re the goat
I'm more of a Van Hager fan than David Lee Roth but I'm with you That's one of my most favorite songs by them and the one you just did when it's love
Me too. Van Hagar just makes me feel great. And like it's always summer!! Picks me up when I'm down. 😎🤟🏻
Hi whats that thing on the Peavey cab behind him on the right- Looks so cool
Awesome !!! new Subscriber !!!
That's what bugs me about copywrite! All chord progressions have been done a billion times! Thanks Marty 😊 good lesson!👍
Love your lessons, thanks. One minor nit to pick: at 11:19, it’s an F major, not C.
We can all Agree Sammy can sing Circles around Dave. Sammy one of the best Singers of all time!
Any chance you could do a video on how to play "Humans Being" from the Twister soundtrack?
Here ya go!

8:09 I like that little chordal thing that is kinda slippery and slidey.
Hey man, how can I email you? Wanted to show you my LP guitar kit build .. the same one you did in pink.
Hey man! Martys_guitars on Instagram. Send me a message through there 👍

10:35 is confusing me a bit, I can’t that 10 count down. The g major triad to be exact
Good lesson. Was disappointed that you didn't tie it all together in the end and play the song the way you do.

A power is root and fifth. If you add the C in the a power chord you get a minor. A and c is a minor third .... if you add a c# it's an a major. 😎🎵
5150 is the best way to be 15yo again.
Exactly!! 😊🤟🏻
Minority opinion: I love the tone of the Van Hagar era. Briefly a Soldano. Now get a Eventide Micropitch or a Boss PS 6 with a Keeley Halo delay.

So, it’s Earth Angel.
E mayor
