Well done to the fuel boaters, heavy work lifting all those bags and bottles. Thanks for highlighting what the work involves for them. Hope you enjoyed your time with them.xx🙋🛥️
Fascinating! It's wonderful to get a glimpse into the life of such an essential part of the narrowboating community. The fuel boats really are doing vital work, so it's great to see people who are so hard-working and dedicated get this kind of recognition.
38 seconds in and I have to pause to comment saying how much this reminds me of an old school educational vhs they would play to you in school. Anyways back to it thanks for providing Friday evening home from work entertainment. ❤
That journey was great ,yes whether on water or land people who deliver fuel are hard workers and I don't think get enought thanks .See you Tuesday ,love as always .💚☘️🤗👋
Loved seeing this from your perspective! Honestly, Emily looks like she loves doing this. What an awesome life experience! I would have totally loved doing this as a kid... what an experience! Great job you guys!
Watching this aboard fuelboat Alton; taking a break from bilge cleaning and shutts replacement. When in the north, on the upper Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals, flag us down on our fortnightly run 👍 ...or if on the four counties ring look out for our 'sister-ship' fuelboat Halsall 😎🍻
Wow, what a great experience. Such hard work - just think how much tougher in colder weather and without the extra help. Fuel boat people are absolute stars 🌟. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Hooray! The fuel boat! I've been looking forward to this, and your opening comments reflected my enthusiasm. I noticed I was grinning for the whole 20 minutes, and I think I'm experiencing a "sympathetic" backache for you. Thanks for doing this. It was interesting with lovely boats and great fun too.
Aw thank you! 😁 We love being lil boat nerds, especially when it comes to fuel boats! Haha yep, our backs were exhausted, but our customers were satisfied 😊 Thank you for watching!
Like others have said, this was a nice new perspective of the fuel boats. Loved it. Keep up the great work. And was that Rob i saw moored up by you on Seraphina? Always nice when my narrowboat channels appear in others' videos. Thanks for the entertainment, from Virginia, USA.
Hi Amy and Wes. You did a really great job to actually work on the fuel boat and vlog at the same time. Great respect for the brilliant job they do keeping you all fuelled up throughout the year. Carrying those bags of coal and logs must be backbreaking. I’m glad you didn’t fall in or drop any bags over the side. Have a great weekend 🥰 Take care. Nick
What a brilliant video & a fantastic experience for you both. A very different video to most other narrow boaters & very enjoyable. I’ll bet you were both aching & tired after that workout, but what a memory to have & share. 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I was that squeely woman that saw you at the boat show when you were queuing to get in to Beatrice. It was great to meet you in person, I hope you had a great day. 🙌 Sof
What a fabulous experience with the super lovely, very fit, Jules Fuels. Can't imagine the stamina and resilience they need to draw on in deepest winter! The backbone of boating life. Bet your muscles were a bit stiff the next day 😂 Love all your vlogs - your channel is one of my favourites and one of the top best on RUclips. This special vlog was excellent. Thank you 😁❤
That was fantastic!! 🤩 What a great experience for you two. Thanks so much for sharing. What a lovely family, love that they work together as a family. Such a great upbringing for their daughter Emily. Glad The Bears were happy with their delivery service. You both must be exhausted. 🤗😊 Kathy
Ah thanks so much Kathy! We loved the experience, and were really happy with how it came across in the video 🥰 I know! What a brilliant life experience to have growing up! We were so tired, but felt so good 💪🏻
@@ruaidhrikathygill8833you’re right, we’re so pleased with how we’ve been portrayed by @boattimeuk and we can only imagine how much work it’s been to edit the video. Thanks!
@@mummyandlittlemiss2634 You’re welcome. Thank you for allowing Wes and Amy to do this. They did a great job. From the very start it was obvious that the respect they had for you and your business. It was so informative especially for someone in the US. They were able to show how hard working and needed you are on the canals. Love that it is a family business. Kudos to you and your family. Stay safe. 🤗😊 Kathy
That was great fun to watch, you two. Were you able to move in the morning? At 71 with arthritis, that would definitely not be something for me, and I will add, would never have been when young either. Kudos to one and all! Stay safe and well.
Another fantastic Vlog guys. Those fuel boats do amazing jobs for sure, a real lifeline for winter living. What a great experience (and idea) ☺️ I belt you feel your muscles aching for a few days 😅
That was such a great vlog - despite the workout you both looked liked you really enjoyed yourselves 😊. When I eventually get myself a boat I want you to be my fuel boat delivery (just once 😉). Hopefully see you both at Boatlife on Saturday 😁
Well done you two! Will your jackets ever be clean again 🤣🤣 Our coal boat is due tomorrow. Ordered 6 bags of Red and a 13kg gas as ours ran out this morning when I got up at 7.30 ready for a cuppa. Hubby had already had his brew, but soon changed over to the new one for my brew. At least it was daylight, usually runs out when it's dark!
wow this is amazing Vvlog, but just wanted to know which way up the canal are you going?, as I used to work in Berkehamsted, one way heads to Hemel and the other I think by memory towards Tring.....
Thank you both for a great vlog! I’ve often wondered about the fuel boat people and as an Aussie, don’t have a chance to find out. Do they live aboard? I loved it, it was right up there with the Christmas series. Hope your muscles aren’t too sore today!
I noticed another aspect of running a fuel boat that I'd never thought of and you didn't mention. 14:19 - Looks like they have to run a bilge pump for the cargo area.
This was really nice to see. I have watched a lot of Narrowboaters and this is the first I have ever seen someone helping out on a fuel boat. Truly I see what an amazing time you had doing this. Can see the appreciation for what they do for all the folks on the canals. Great job Wes & Amy. 🩷🩷
If it wasn't for fuel boats obtaining fuel would be a right pain. They literally come to your front door saving loads of hassle. I doubt many boaters could cope without these fuel boats.
When I saw jules fuels I slapped my forehead thinking oh no a carbon copy of David's video coming up. Of course I need not of worried as much like I suspected you've made it a completely original experience with your cheery grins , nice on Amy and Wes.
Haha! Yes we love David's video, there's no way we could present it in such a professional way, but hopefully this gives an insight as to how it felt to give it a go! 🥰 Thank you! x
It’s a tight knit community and generally people are respectful of one another, you want to keep the coal boat on side! Plus we’re on board and have our doggies who would alert us if anything was amiss.
Hey! Really?? We watch quite a few but haven’t seen that 👀 a lot of boaters seem to be into sustainability, or they like foraging, but not necessarily vegan 😊
Yes, they are both ours. They are much loved. He is a lurcher and they are bred to be lean. He is fed very expensive good quality food and enjoys it but he won’t eat any more than he needs. It’s a myth that boaters live in adverse conditions, we look after ourselves and our dogs very well.

Fancy seeing myself and a picture of Tadworths first load after it left BWB. Andrew really works hard and you showed it well.
What a fab video ! ❤
Fuel boaters ought to get free licences the amount of good work they do !!
Agreed! 👏🏻 and thank you!! 🥰

Love this! Great to showcase the amazing service the fuel boats do. Especially in winter
So much respect for the fuel boats, they work so hard, but make the lifting look so easy, they say they don't need to go to the Gym!
Kudos to the people running the fuel boats. This gives a better picture of the community of narrow boats.

Yes, only if it’s been raining. It’s just the rainwater that collects in the hold.

Saoirse, I know that boat!
How do they deal with rain water in the hull?
They have a bilge pump that pumps it all out 😊
@@BoatTime Thanks!
This is awesome. Do they live aboard?
Yes, we do 🥰
@@mummyandlittlemiss2634 do you have your own RUclips channel
No, we are busy enough! RUclipsrs spend hours editing and working on their channels…we just can’t dedicate the time.
what happened to the second boat? when did this couple buy the business?
They didn’t buy the business, they only use the butty some of the time 😀
What's the water coming out the sides?
All the rain water that’s fallen into the hold.
@mummyandlittlemiss2634 makes sense. Sorry I'm not a boater. Looks a great life though
Yep! It’s a plug to drain rainwater out because the fuel boat is open top, so the rain just builds up in there 😊
Real diesels for a new engine, if you need one, old boat.
Not sure if you can fit one on a trad, it's a sealed back deck to stop rain water.
Hey boat time, I just wanted to ask a question. Why is it that every narrow boat channel I watch thay are all vegan, like all of them. Why????
