UPSC exam is one of the toughest exams in India. Lakhs of students apply for the exam, for a limited vacancy of seats. For UPSC 2018, about 8 lakh candidates had applied for UPSC CSE(Prelims) 2018, out of which only 10500 candidates qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination. IAS Sonal Goel was also a UPSC aspirant during 2007-2008, who with all the necessary UPSC preparation cleared the exam. However, it was in her second attempt that she was IAS topper on the 13th Rank.
