  • Dimple dies done the easy way, the hard way and the best way.
The cheapest way to get it done would be a set of conduit sized dies, a matching hole saw and a hydraulic press.
Upgrade number one would be a set of hole punches. Hole punch sets in regular sizes (ex: 1 inch, 1.5 inch, 2inch etc.) are much more expensive then a conduit size hole punch set (1.163 inches, 1.510 inches, 1.740 inches etc.) Most dimple die sets are only available in regular hole sizes but Swag Offroad makes a conduit sized dimple die set. If you get this set you can use a harbor freight set of hole punches (comes with the hydraulic driver kit) and not have to purchase expensive Greenlee hole punches. Only downside is the off sized hole but chances are no one will be coming up and measuring your dimple die holes in scrutiny.
Upgrade number two would be a hydraulic punch driver. This is available from Harbor Freight. This allows you to punch and dimple die anywhere. Want dimple die on the roof of you schoolbus? No problem. Want a dimple die the trunk of your ex girlfriends car while she is sleeping? This little tool has your back. The real bonus here is that is only costs $99 and comes with a conduit sized punch set. So with this and a set of conduit sized dimple dies your off and rolling!
Upgrade number three would be properly sized dimple dies and properly sized hole punches. This dimple die set has a wider range of sizes but costs $160 more. There is no cheap set of properly sized hole punches so that will set you back some coin too. This is the best way to do it. Is it worth it? Probably not, I'd just get a conduit sized set and call it a day.
    Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing! I saw a guy 3D print some dimple dies. He used big heavy duty finder washers and a bolt. I like that hydraulic power puller and the hole punch idea.

Awesome to come across your channel.
I first saw you and your car at Road Atlanta for FD in 2017 when I was there as pit crew for a Trans Am team. And the next time was in Spokane for the Sovren race in 2018.
