That's the problem in KL. In Europe we could easily incorporate some exercise into our daily lifes - be it by cycling to work or walking to the grocery store. Here everything is so car centric. Only thing that I detest about Malaysia and which has a hugely negative impact on quality of life in my opinion.

That's true. I miss the ability to walk in KL even so it's so hot. But there are plenty of places for hiking that i have never really explored. Do you know them? Thank you for your comment 🙏

Eagerly waiting for fireworks display to usher in the New Year....yay..
We prepare our own meals, eating out is only for special occasions, went out with friends yesterday for breakfast and the eggs benedict almost broke the bank.Malaysians tend to be able to afford to eat out a lot,how fortunate.
We are at the age that we need to save.Preparing your own meals mean, you can monitor the calories. We go for walks as a form of exercise,it has become like a religious thing around where we live since half of the time,we work from home, good excuse for fresh air and stretch your legs.
Good content in this video.....not about nasi lemakk....

Thank you and Happy New Year to you and your family. Again, I appreciate your sharing. It seems you have found a way to balance great food with exercise, hence, enjoying a great lifestyle.
And yes, it is better to eat at home, since food outside has become incredibly expensive! But it is a game of time and convenience, and I enjoy my visits to the restaurants or Mamaks..... People watching is fun, haha!
Enjoy the new start to the year and keep up creating awesomeness.

Gutten tag. Ich bin ein Malaysiche. Mein sohne er studiert in Ingolstadt. Although he is fully germanized he loves his malaysian food. He is a good cook too and always cooks malaysian food for his german friends. Surprisingly they love malaysian food also. Due respect, german food is quite bland. When his german friends and their families come here, they love it. Ich liebe Deutschland auch.

Thank you for your wonderful comment. I really appreciate it and the thoughts and efforts that you put inside of it. I hope and believe your son is well in Ingolstadt. It is a beautiful place and I am glad that he found good friends.
I have to agree with you. German food is quite bland. We always look for the best Asian food to spice it up, because even Asian food in Germany can be quite different from what we get here, haha. That's the reason why your son's friends enjoy his food and I am glad that he is a great cook, to represent Malaysian food, haha.
I am missing my Nasi Lemak after a few days and long for my Roti Canais and I prefer my life in Malaysia. Saya cinta Malaysia.

Hey Andreas. I found this video to be inspiring. My primary goal for 2024 is to set up a 'home base' in SEA, with either Indonesia or Malaysia as the primary contenders. I have been slightly concerned at the prospect of maintaining an ideal diet due to such an emphasis on rice, noodles, etc - foods that I really love. I'm sure I could live off of roti.
Recently, I experimented with fasting, which I found to be very rewarding. I'm curious to experiment with fasting 24 hours once per week, or something similar, because I found that even just fasting a few times for 24 hour periods resulted in remarkable improvements in my digestion and heart function. I was experiencing a high heartrate after eating certain foods and had regular digestion issues that seemed to clear up. I suspected gut microbiome imbalance, and fasting supposedly helps with that. Of course my experience is just an anecdotal report, not a scientific one. Paradoxically, once you get over the psychological 'conditioned hunger' response to fasting, there is the enjoyment of clarity and higher energy. This also meant less guilt when enjoying foods for the rest of the week, due to such a substantial calorie 'deficit' that the fasting creates.
This video made me realise that it would be wise for me to incorporate more physical activity. Some people find it easier to 'do' than to 'not do', and some are opposite. I think whatever it is that we choose, the most important part is that we see and experience it as empowering instead of oppressive. It can feel depriving to order smaller portions - or it can feel wonderful and satisfying when you focus on how you no longer need to feel tired, groggy, etc - and realising that you actually get full just the same. :)

    • @asiaminddynamics
      @asiaminddynamics  10 месяцев назад +1

Hi Arman, thank you for your thoughtful response and compliment. I enjoy Malaysian food, and find it hard not to eat. Too many good occasions, haha. As such, I thought it is easier to exercise in whatever way possible, and set some minimum levels to make it happen.
Thank you also for sharing your experience with fasting. It is an idea I am playing with for a while, but can't get started on it. Maybe 2024 is the way to go with regard to this.
Have you heard the expression: Metabolically Healthy Obesity? Google it. It is some new way of looking at weight, obesity, exercise and health and the video was inspired by it.
Find your way around SEA and let's catch up should you come across Malaysia.

Hi Andreas . First of, exercises and I r not friends! I had serious weight problems wen I was much younger, and it followed me to wen I started work. Since exercise is not d solution to d problem (I did try jogging around my house compound for some time, but it only made me feel I needed more energy to do it!), I decided dat I must cut down on my food intake.
I had to psyche myself to not crave rice, chocolates, generally confectionaries, all d local food I loved so much, including things like roti canai, Malay cakes, until I came to d stage where I could look at these foods and not wish/crave for them. I only had 1 square meal a day(dinner which required me to hav early dinner) , but in small amounts. In order to mollify my taste buds during d day, I wld eat assam things like d sour kanna, preserved limes. I know dat was bad nutrition, so I made sure I had supplemented my diet with supplements!
Dis went on for many years, then middle age hit me, wen no amount of physical activity, including brain work, helped. D pounds started to pile up. Luckily not as great as wen I was younger.
Then retirement hit me, now I tell myself I don't need to worry so much about fitting into my fancy clothes. However, my body complains being weakish if I don't take enough carbohydrates in a day. Now, I purposely eat those taboo foods, but watching d weighing scale so dat it'll not show me I've over indulged. Funny thing is, many of d foods I used to love eating don't taste as good as b4, and I tend to feel very full easily, which then worries me whether there's s'thing wrong with my health....

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am moved by it! You did a lot of what you needed to do to get through to where you are today. You actually have a strong willpower. You have excluded food from your menu even so you liked them, to the point that you started to dislike them. Not everyone can do this! I don't know if anything is wrong with your health, but of course, being overweight for a long time might have impacted your health. Only a doctor will be able to give you more details.
If I may suggest, I would do the following. Do some walking. Not much, and only until you cannot anymore. Anything you do will help you feel better. I hope this helps you a bit.
One more thing. You do know that I am specialised in helping people learn to manage their minds, get over issues such as mentioned by you.. If you are interested to know more, please let me know.
